Why does my iPad keep restarting itself?

I recently updated to IOS 8.1 on my iPad mini a couple days ago(clearly a huge mistake), and now it just keeps restarting itself over and over again. How can I prevent this from happening?

Adding into my post, is there anything that is possibly causing it to do this?

it won't go to the home screen just keeps restarting on it's own

YOU ARE IN RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.

Why does my iPad keep disconnecting itself from my Wi-Fi

A couple of weeks ago I noticed my iPad had disconnected itself from Wi-Fi, so reconnected and thought nothing of it. The next time I turned it on, it had disconnected again (Wi-Fi was still on though) so I clicked in to settings again and back onto my network. All works fine - good - but then the NEXT time I turned it on (from sleep, not fully off) it had disconnected AGAIN.
This has now become the norm for my iPad. Constantly disconnecting itself from the network and doesn't reconnect automatically when I fire it back up.
Can anyone think what might be causing this, it's pretty annoying.
(I've tried switching it off fully and back on. No dice...)

Hi,
Try changing your security options on your router to WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]. You will need to log into your wireless router to change this.
It worked for me. Before it was dropping frequently and after the change, it is still connected over a day later.

Try the basic troubleshooting tips and see if any of these help with the freezing issue.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit the apps. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. If you are watching the YouTube videos on Safari - this may help as well. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data (orCache in iOS 4.3.5). Restart the iPad. why do you say it's not normal.
it always switches itself on after i update. it just did again, this time for 7.1.2.. i t also will switch on after a restore.
i never use bluetooth and make sure it's not on for any other reason.
it's been noticed by others too.
