Why does my Iphone 4 randomly resend old text messages?

My carrier is Verizon but from what I have read on the Internet it is apparently an Apple issue not a carrier issue. It is really embarrassing when people text me all confused because I sent them a random text message.

I'm having the same issue, I just changed offices and the service in here is typically not 3G, and 1-3 bars.  Sometimes iMessages drops out sometimes it is fine, sometimes an SMS won't go through and I have to manual resend it, but recently I have been getting texts from friends telling me that I am resending texts from days ago.
I'm not sure, but I think when I try to resend a failed message, somehow it is trying to resend all past failed messages or something.
Anyone else having this issue?

  • Why does my Iphone 5 alert my text messages after I have already read them?

I recently got an iPhone 5 about a month ago and for the first two weeks it was running perfectly but lately I have noticed a few issues with it and the biggest one being that my phone delays the alert of my text messages. For example, I could be on my phone and the badge saying I have a text message will show up but my phone won't ring or create a banner until minutes after I have already read the message and moved on. I'm wondering if this is a data usage problem on my part or something along those lines, or if it's just a malfunction of the phone. (Note: I have only used 4 GB of my phone and have about 9GB left) Any help regarding my issue would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

  • Why does my iPhone 4 receive some text messages whilst others get lost?

Having a problem with text messages as some are not being received by my phone , quite frustrating any ideas anyone?

Has nothing to do with your iPhone. After a message is sucessfully sent, what happens to the message after that has nothing to do with the phone that sent the message or with the recipient's phone.

  • HT3529 Why does my IPhone 5 send multiple text messages to a few people?

My iphone 5 sometimes sends a text 2 or 4 times to the same person even when I have only typed it once.  It frequently happens with my son who has a different carrier.  I have AT&T and he has Verizon.  He has a limit on number of texts so this is a real problem.  Does anyone have any answer to this dilemma?  I talked with AT&T and they registered my phone, but the problem still persists, and no one seems to know why or how to fix it.  PLEASE HELP!

  • My iphone is overwriting old text messages

My iphone is overwriting old text messages within a conversation, - please help. I don't keep a lot of text messages on my phone but would like to save the conversation with this person

I have the same issues. At first Verizon told me it was an issue with my coverage area so I bought the wireless booster. Then they sent me a new phone. Still does it
I went to the Verizon store today & they are telling me it is an Iphone issue that came up with the new update.

  • Why can't I delete my old text messages?

I'm trying to get rid from stuff from my iPhone, but most of my memory is the documents and data.
I thought I could get rid of it by deleting some of my old text messages, but it won't let me delete any ot my old texts.
Every time I try deleting a message from like a month ago my phone freezes and then whe I try to exit my messages
and reopen it, it deletes all of my messages! PLEASE HELP!

I have a 32GB  iPhone 5s, am running the most current iOS (8.1.3)
None of the above steps actually accomplish PERMANENTLY DELETING OLD MESSAGES! I have over 8 GB of iMessage text messages. I have tried every suggested method of delete, from one at a time swiping, to "edit" , highlight and delete. It works in the moment, and LOOKS deleted, but doesn't actually REMOVE the messages. iMessage locks up often, then I am forced to reboot my phone.  When I reboot, all messages back to 2013 are BACK ON MY PHONE!
I found a great app, and actually paid $35 to try to fix this! It allowed me to see and copy the old text and voice messages that I did want to keep. That's awesome, and I have saved to my desktop computer the files I want. Unfortunately this program doesn't have (apple) permission to delete the files.
    Soooo......
I have set the "keep messages" function to only 30 days. There are STILL messages all the way back to early 2013.
I read that I needed to delete, then SYNC w/my iTunes to make them permanently go away. NOPE. THEY COME BACK.
I have done a complete restore, hoping it was just some bug, that would get cleaned out in the process. NOPE. THEY COME BACK.
In the meantime, functionality is HORRIBLE due to the fact that the app is over filled.
Someone please give me a real suggestion. PLEASE. I will be forever grateful.

  • Does anyone have a clear solution as to why my new iPhone will not send text messages to some numbers.

Does anyone have a clear solution as to why my new iPhone 5 will not send text messages to some numbers?

I had problems the first few days with text messaging on my new cell. I checked my new contract service thru AT&T online, and it turned out the guy who set up my phone didn't sign me up for the unlimited texting I told him I HAD to have!  I just had to add texting back into my contract.....problem solved.  I hope your problem is solved this easily.

  • New Incredible is automatically resending old text messages?  Not good!

HELP!!  My brand new, only a few hours old, Incredible appears to be resending every single text message that transferred over from my old phone.  How do I make it stop??  I'm afraid to turn the phone back on.  I've already really bugged a ton of people!
    Thanks.

Turn your phone on, wait for homescreen,  set to airplane mode as fast as you can by holding power button.
With airplane mode on the texts can't send.
Now erase all your texts you imported.

  • Why does my iPhone randomly resize images?

Suddenly I'll have a string of photos that are only 640x480. The only thing I've down is download all of my images via Image Capture but it's random and does not resize all of them. Then I try to redownload them only to find they are small on my iphone too. I only use the apple camera to take these photos and they have not been sent, edited, or opened with any other app.
I have an iPhone 4s but this has happened on my older phones as well.

It could be that someone is using FaceTime to call you!  Open the phone application, click on "Recents" on the bottom, and see if that's the case.

  • Why does the iPhone randomly exit out of apps??

Hello what should I do about my iPhone 4S randomly exiting out of apps? I've held the top and middle buttons at the same time many of times and its not helping! It's still occurring! Help!!!

An app randomly exiting means that the app has "crashed".  You might have a bad app (try deleting it form your device and re-downloading it).  It might be an app bug which you just happen to be encountering.  It could also be a problem with your iPhone.  You could do a "restore as new" and re-instsall the apps and see if they have the same issues or not.  It they don't, then it was either a bad download, or corruption in your "profile".

  • Why does two iPhones show the same text

MY sons iPhone and husbands iPhones are sharing the same texts and syncing with one another how to do I stop this

Use a different Apple ID for iMessage on both phones.  (You can continue to share the same ID for iTunes.)
One of you needs to go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a differert ID.  If you are sharing the same ID for FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime to avoid getting each other's FaceTime calls.

  • Why does my iphone randomly delete new contacts

Over the last month I have noticed that some, maybe all...of the contacts that I have recently added to my address book have disappeared.  I know that I entered them into my phone.  I could even see where the name showed up on my recent's list.  However, when I go back to call or e-mail one of these contacts they are not there and the contact number is on my recent's without a contact name again.  I am not sure what is causing this.  All of my software is up to date.  I am using icloud.  I have an iphone4s, ipad2 and a Samsung laptop.  I have only recently noticed this happening...Please help!

  • Why does my iphone say i have a message but when i click on the app i dont have one and if i get out of the app it still says the messages are there.?

When i go on my phone it says i have 3 new messages but when i click on it i really dont. I turned off and turned my phone on 3 times and it still says i have 3 new messages how do i stop that. Without actually turning on the bager icon thing that pops up on the app.

    Hey there Samimanis_.
It sounds like your notification for messages is showing that you have a few mesages but when you go into the app, there are no new messages. I would start by signing out of your Apple ID in Settings > Messages. Then close the running apps on the phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the phone, sign back in, and try again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes, and restore it:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Why does my iPhone ring when my iPad receives a text

Why does my iPhone receive the same texts as me iPad

Because they share the same iMessage account and the same "deliver to" address(s).  You can edit the receive addresses to be unique, but then people will need to know which one to send to to get the right device.  The whole point of iMessage is that your messages can be received on any iOS (or now OS X 10.8) machine that you set up with the same iMessage account and receive aliases.
You can also set up the devices with completely different iMessage accounts, by using different AppleIDs to create the accounts.
