Why does my iphone 4s no longer appear on my PC?

Last week I downloaded to my PC some pictures from my Iphone 4s. Since then, my Iphone does not appear as a device on my PC. I have rebooted my PC.
I've rebooted my Iphone. I've deleted and reinstalled Itunes and made sure I have the latest issue of the Iphone operating system. I've tried different cables as well as different USB ports. I've confirmed the connection by attaching my Ipod and Ipad, both of which appear normal on my PC.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have taken many pictures and previously when I connected it to my PC runnng Windows XP pro, the iTunes application started and the "camera wizard" also started. With the camera wizard I could download any or all of my photos from the "camera roll". Today this no longer works. Is this because of the operating system upgrade in the iPhone (6.0.1 (10A523), or a setting in my PC which has changed? The iPhone also appeared as a reomvable disk (which contains only the photos in the "camera roll") This no longer shows, so it seems it is an iPhone problem, not a Windows problem. Any Suggestions?

I assume you've already seen this, but this is Apple's troubleshooting page on your issue: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538. In particular, if you haven't already done so, you might want to look through items 4-6 at the bottom of this (checking the Apple USB driver in device manager, 3rd party mobile phone and security software.

Ok, granted, I am guilty of not always plugging my iphone in when it gives me the low battery warning. But why does it take SOOOO long to get enough charge to turn back on? If apple is taking suggestions, then my suggestion is that you should just be able to plug it in and it should be ready to use within a minute, like other cell phones. I've had my battery die mid phone call, and then had to wait for it to get enough charge to call back. I know its maybe only about 5-7 minutes but that seems like forever to return a dropped call. Does this happen to anyone else or is something wrong with my phone? Any suggestions?

Apple set the default to 10 minutes before you can use the iPhone. After 2 minutes you'll get an image of the low battery. It's in the iPhone Users Guide, page 49.

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

No I didn't. Someone suggested in another thread that my iPod was registering as a disk instead of a device, so if I removed my iPod as a disk on Disk Utility then it would reload etc. and show up in iTunes. Which it didn't, and instead just cleared all my music (16,000 songs).
So frustrating.
Hope if you have the same problem you are able to find a better solution!

OK, so I'm clearly a newb. I thought if I asked a question, it would post, and now I'm being told to post a comment, so I'm asking the same question again. Sorry I sound like an idiot. I'm new to this apple/mac stuff.

If you have added the ringtone file correctly to iTunes, it will appear under iTunes 'Tones' library.
If you don't find Tones library in iTunes, go to iTunes menu EDIT/PRFERENCES under GENERAL tab, check the Tones Box under Library source to display Tones library in iTunes.
iTunes accepts only m4r file as ringtone and has to be less than 40secs.

If your iPhone is shutting down unexpectedly, I recommend going through these troubleshooting steps:

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

have you tried resetting your phone by holding the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time until the apple logo appears? also, how do you know it's your phone that is the problem?

In addition the the step it tells you what it is doing during that step. If it is backing up that is taking a long time try deleting your backup, then just back up (rather than syncing). The first backup may take a while, but after that is should be fast. If it is Syncing see if you can identify the sync step - contacts, calendar, photos. If you have a lot of photos in Albums (not camera roll) that should take a long time whenever you change photos, but should not any other time.
How are you syncing contacts and calendar? If you have a lot of contacts (>1,000) and the change frequently that's a possibility Likewise for calendar entries.
Beyond these I'm as mystified as you. Earlier versions prior to 3.1 commonly took a long time to sync, but more recent versions generally ahve not had a problem.
