Why does my iPhone 5 battery runs dead after only 5 hours in standby?

My brand new iPhone 5 runds completely dead after only 5 hours standby.
I might have done 2 or 3 calls, I switched off all the apps that are running in the background.
Wifi and bluetooth are on, and should stay on.
My old iPhone4 could work almost 2 days without recharging....
I have looked at different blogs and websites and set most of those tips and tricks, but without success... my phone is 1 day old and already synced....
Is there something big that I'm overlooking?

also recalibrate the battery, let if fully drain to where your phone shuts off and then fully charge it without using it.

I have turned everything off in the way of settings that I can. After I confirm my back up, I was going to delete all programs, less one, and see if and when the situation starts repeating itself. I am hoping that someone might have other thoughts.

What do you mean by 'quick'? If you mean a few hours then I think it is normal (it's normal for me: 4+ hours for me depending on what I use it for). If you play apps with really good graphics it will make the battery go quicker. If you don't use it for much, then the battery might have gone out-of-sync with the battery percentage it thinks it has (I am not sure if this happens with apple devices though)

imessage has a new setting that shows all emails associated with your apple id. There are two sections, send and receive. Since you are using the same apple id, Im sure if you adjust one of those settings to your mobile number instead of your appleid, it wont send double.
You might also have to adjust your wifes settings too, so those emails dont overlap

I don't know the particulars but it's not hard to image that when the connection detects no traffic for a certain period of time it automatically disconnects.

Starting today, when I take a picture using the forward facing camera, not the one on the back of the phone but the front view, after I take a picture, my phone rotates it and saves it. If I'm posing and my body is angled left, when it saves it, my body is angled right. I don't know what could be causing your specific issue, but if you have waited two-hours and the Restore or Sync has not completed then just waiting is unlikely to result in any improvement. Perhaps there is an App from the old Backup that just will not finish loading. Wondering if you could just sync or Restore all but the Apps and then download your previously purchased Apps from the App Store for free. If you disconnect the iPhone from the Computer and iTunes and turn the iPhone off and then back on does it work? If you do a Reset on the iPhone via holding the sleep / wake button and the Home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears, releasing the buttons and waiting for the Reset to complete ...does the iPhone work?
If none of the above works, you could just plug your USB end of the lightning cable into a different port on your computer and also flip the lightning end over once and see if the Restore or Sync completes.
If nothing else works, and knowing you have your current Backup anyway, you could Restore the iPhone 6 to Factory Settings, bring it up as a New In-The-Box iPhone (Restore as a New Phone) waiting for the "Hello" and answering the few questions and settings ...then after proving the iPhone works fine go back and do the Restore from Backup.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone4. I would be concerned too if my iPhone was unexpectedly powering off. I found an article with steps you can take when you encounter an issue like this. I recommend following the steps below:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.

Sounds like hardware failure, called boot loop. Call Apple and or go on apple.com and make Genius Bar appointment to have your iphone reviewed by a Tech. Provided you iphone shows no physical or liquid damage they will take care of you, or if you have Apple Care Plus

Why does my A55 camera shut off after only a few shots, and the battery is fully charged?

I have a 3 year old A55 camera. It has performed without problems, until now. When I use a fully charged battery, the camera will shut down after about 10 shots. It will not power back up until I put in another fully charged battery. My extended warranty expired in March, but I would think that Sony should fix this known issue, because I see it as a rampant problem (from my research online). Unlike the rest of Sony's A-Mount cameras, the A55 and A33 used the relatively anemic NP-FW50, the same battery used in all Sony's E-Mount bodies. I think that it's probable that, as all rechargeable batteries will do, yours have reached the end of their useful lives, and can't hold a charge. Have you tried a new battery?

My phone will hang when i launch the twitter app sometimes. After approx of 3-5 minutes of freeze screen, the apple logo appears. After about 1 minute of apple logo on the screen, the phone resumes its normal function.

Sounds like something got corrupted during your upgrade.
I would restore from a last known good backup if I were you.
If that doesn't work I would set the phone up as new and re-install all of your apps and re-sync your music again.

I've tried both a standard headset with USB adapter AND a USB headset directly in both a Intel iMac and a PowerMac G5 and every occasion after approxiamtely one hour the mic feature begins to fail. The headphones seem unaffected.

Hi Christopher, I have this same problem with my USB headset. I have a dongle that lets you plug in a headset to the back of it. It works great for an hour, then everyone tells me I sound like a robot. I can hear them fine. I unplug and plug back in and it works fine again.
Did you ever figure this out?
I'm running 10.8.5 and it happens in G+Hangouts, Go To Meeting, and Adobe Connect.
Weird. Not terribly taxing, but annoying nonetheless...

The screen isn't broken because it works after i turn the device off and back on, but after it goes black once, it's only white again.
But it takes the touches although it's only white, because I can answer my phone when I slide my finger on the bottom of the screen, eventhough there in not the button to see.
This is so weird. I have already done everything I can think of that might help. But I cannot think of anything that might be causing it, because nothing has happened to the device.

My wife's iPhone is the same vintage as mine 3Gs, but has never had the battery problem. Its affliction instead is that it cannot detect WiFi networks unless it is quite close to the source. Often, when my iPhone not only detects but shows a maximum cells connection with a network, hers cannot detect the network at all. In contrast, her iPhone seems to detect ourcellular carrier just as well as mine does.
Is there any help for this affliction?

I'm guessing it's more likely a problem with your carrier's 3G network in the area. You shouldn't have to modify any settings for 3G to work consistently on a supported carrier.
You can try turning off 3G data, with will switch over to Edge if it exists. If it does, it will be much slower than 3G, but I suppose faster than 0 is better than 0.
I'd contact your carrier about it.

Fully discharge the battery (till it shuts down and won't turn on) and then fully recharge it (100%). This will recalibrate the battery meter. You may need to do this a few times.
