Why does my iPhone 5 turn off when it reaches 6%?

I have an iPhone 5. About a month ago the phone started acting weird. When it reaches 6 or 7% it automatically turns off and if I turn it on again it will turn off in a few seconds. Also a month ago I could go on for 2 days with the battery but now I can hardly make it through the day. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Check out the Power/Battery section to troubleshoot your issue with your iPhone powering off on you. Check to make sure that your iPhone is also not working in the background on some apps by checking in Setting > General > Usage and there will be a Usage and Standby time to see if it is powering off within normal operating use.

If you close the first browser window and try it again...the music will continue to play.

Are these images huge (15+ Mpixels)? Does the same happen if you try to edit low(er)-res images? I'm wondering why my Iphone would turn power off with 20% power left.
I have other apple products (Ipod 3 and and Ipad 2 ) and i don't find the same issue with my other products.

Charge it all the way up, then let it run all the way down until it shuts off. Repeat this cycle to recalibrate your battery meter.

I've have had my Mac for a few months now and it has gone beyond my expentation it was defenatly a good buy . I was wondering if there is a way to keep Internet sharing on when I shutdown or restart my Macit would stop working. Ive went to bestbuy and tried this out in other macs and the same thing happened when I restart or shut it. Internet sharing would say it is enabled in preferences, but it no longer has the arrow point up. Why does my screen turn black when I play ITunes while working on iPhoto? I can't click off of the screen but get a message that reads Shut down computer by pressing button in back then turn computer back on by pushing button in back. That's followed by Chinese letters (which I cannot read). I have had other problems when playing iTunes (actually, a radio station on the Internet) while working on iPhoto. Before, I got a window that would pop up and tell me I had no disk space available, that I would have to quit applications that were open. Not many were open.
It would be nice if I could solve this problem once and for all.

The solutions on here did not work for me.   I tried.....
I have the same problem with a BRAND NEW iPhone 5c version 7.1- no sound when a text message arrives.
(1) I have "do not disturb" scheduled correctly.   No partial moon on the main screen near the time and battery indicator.
(2) I have the ringer icon correct with no slash.    Yes I turned the hardward mute switch to the UP position (ie the one above the + and - buttons on the left side.   I tried messaging with the bell as shown and bell with a slash and neither work.   The mute switch is not red (switch above the + volume hardware switch)     I enabled some assistant using the Settings menu.    And I press the dot (looks like a target symbol) and go to Devices and I can see what position the bell is in....either a bell with a slash or no slash.
(3) Yes ringtones are configured for text and other. I can hear them when I am under settings > sounds.   But they do not link with the actual hardware.
(4) I rebooted the iPhone 5c by using the button at top, slide the red bar, then pressed it again, apple came up for a minute and it seemed to be back up.
(5) I upgraded the IPhone 5c from 7.0.4 to 7.1 using my pc and itunes.   And the upgrade was successful but did not fix the text issue.
(6) I do not have it in airplane mode or silent mode.
(7) I reset all settings using Setttings > General > reset > reset all settings . this wipes settings but not data and media.
This is really frustrating.

Try the standard fixes:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

What worked for me, is going to the camera app, switch to video, turn on flash, and record. Let the phone record for about 10 minutes. (your phone will probably keep reseting itself) but that is okay, let it reset, and go back the the camera app and repeat. what you are supposed to do is let the phone sit there and wait for the back to feel sort of hot. stop recording at about 8 minutes and plug your phone into itunes, it should be charging, and once you do so you can then set your phone into DFU mode. This might not help you, or it will. I just fixed my iphone today, that had the same problem as you. so keep trying and it will come back to normal again! Cheers!
