  • Why does my iPod randomly turn off?

I have an iPod 3rd generation. I will be playing an app, surfing the web, or checking my emails and my iPod will randomly turn off. First it will dim to the point you can barely see it, then it freezes, and turns off.  I have tried restoring it, and a  force shutdown. I don't know what else to do. PLEASE HELP!!!

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • Why does my ipod touch turn off and not turn on for a while

every once in a while my ipod touch turns off and wont turn back on for a day or two. So why does it do this, it is from over use of the ipod?

Try the following fixes in order:
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPOd to factory defaults/new iPod
If yo still have the problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Why does my iPod keep turning off by itself

why does my ipod touch keep turning off by itself?

Is it running hot? There are thermal limits that will shut it down.
As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...

    SMC RESET

    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.

  • Why does my iPod classic turn off?

I've had my iPod classic for about five years now and about two months ago it started to act weird. Whenever I would press next too much I notice the battery depleting to almost the red zone, but I fully charged it that day. Before all of this happened I noticed that my iPod would always ask to be restored. Now, it seems to have gotten a lost worse. Before I could listen to my iPod classic for at least a whole day without needing a charge, but now I can't even do that anymore. I'd be lucky if I could listen to a whole album. I would love to try and buy a new iPod classic, but I'm a college student and broke so I really can't afford one. So any help would be great. Thank you!

You most likely have activated the sleep timer.
    Setting the Sleep Timer
You can set iPod to turn off automatically after playing music or a slideshow for a
    specific period of time.
    To set the sleep timer:
1 Choose Extras > Clock and then choose a clock.
2 Choose Sleep Timer and choose how long you want iPod to play.
When you set the sleep timer, a clock icon and the number of minutes left until iPod
turns off appear in the Now Playing screen on iPod.

  • Why does my iPod touch turn off right after I slide to unlock?

I have a third generation iPod touch that used to work just fine. However, it won't turn on unless charging and as soon as I slide to unlock it, the slide to power off option turns on. Despite cancelling it, it automatically turns off. It's very frustrating and I've tried restoring it, but to no avail. The problem continues.
Any suggestions as to how to get it up and functioning properly again?

  • Why does my phone randomly turn off?

Hello..so when I'm listening to music or using an app, my phone will randomly restart itself. Why???

Also if i shake the phone around- the light will turn off but if I accidently touvh it again it'll turn on.
Sounds like a hardware problem to me.
Try a reset first by pressing the home and sleep (on/off) buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
It's unlikely that a restore will help but you can try... http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

    Hey madelinefrommiami,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
After reviewing your post, it sounds like it may be a hardware issue if moving the earphone shuts off the iPod. A frustrating situation for sure. Take a look at this page for information on available service options.

  • Why does my iPod automatically turn off?

When i turn it on just to play multiplay or a long game for hours, my iPod turns off. Any help will do.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • Why does my ipod touch turn off and back on repeatedly

I've recently just sync'd my iPod Touch and shortly thereafter, the unit turns on, the "Apple" symbol appears, but then about 8-10 seconds later the screen flashes and it turns off. About 8-10 seconds later, it turns on. This behavior cycles repeatedly without any effect from manipulation of the "Home" or "on/off" buttons. It also makes no difference if plugged in using the A/C connector.

  • HP Pavilion HPE h9-1120t Phoenix - PC Suddenly Starts Turning Off After a Few Minutes of Use

Had this computer since July 2012 and not even a hiccup.  4 days ago, the computer suddenly began turning off. It does not shut down, it turns off like the plug was pulled. When I restart I get the Windows improper shutdown message.   There is no warning at all.  No message like the computer is overheating.  It will just happen when the computer is idle with no programs open.
When it shuts down, the power unit light goes out for about a minute then comes back on "green" and the computer can be restarted.
I have unplugged the power cord and relugged and it seems fine.
The computer is up to date on Windows updates and can be shut down normally.
I have taken off the cover and cleaned out all the dust and confirmed all the fans are running just like they should.  I have left the cover off and the computer still shuts down.
    Any ideas?  Thanks.

Everyone must be gone for the week for Thanksgiving.  Can someone help?
Here is the latest: In SAFE MODE, the computer never shuts down all at once. It will stay on indefinately.   I tried SYSTEM RESTORE to 3 previous versions all failed and the computer shuts down on it's own.
I checked the computer setup menu and all looked fine, even turned off OVERCLOCKING.
Did a reinstall of the factor Windows install and as soon as it gets to the point where it begins to initial settings (after I enter in the WiFi password), it shuts down on it's own.
    Any ideas?  Thanks.
