Why does my ipod touch 5th generation spontaneously turn off

My iPod touch 5th gen recently did the latest software update, just yesterday. Then this morning, while battery was fully charged, it spontaneously turned off. I had just looked at my email like 2 minutes previously, then when I picked it up again and hit the home butten, nothing. It had turn off and we had to do the reset by holdint the home button and power button at the same time to get it to turn on.  Is this a software update glitch?  It has never done this before. Or is there something wrong with my iPod?

Things like that just happen some times.  If it recurs
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Why does my ipod touch 5th generation completely shuts off even when its charged and then doesnt turn back on?

This is very frustrating. Like three months ago my ipod touch, 5th generation, just turns off out of no where. It will be charged and working fine but then the screen goes completely black and I can't turn it on. But then after like a day or so it turns back on and works until it decides to shut off again. And the cycle repeats. I'm scared its going to break for good.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

  • Why does my Ipod touch 5th generation 32GB   have problems syncing with the latest version of itunes?

lately My ipod touch, 5th generastion 32gb has difficulty whenever i try to sync it with tht latest version of iTunes. When i go to sync it immediately claims that over 10gb has dissipated into this "Other" section. to fix that i have to do a factory reset, however after the reset has finished and while i am trying to re-sync my music on to my device the sync gets stopped toward the end saying "Waiting for changes to be applied" for hours on end. even then it does not sync. So currently i am unable to use the ipod tough for what it was built as in the first place, a music player. currently i am ratherdissapointed and i would like to find some answers to this problem because this problem is extremely irritating and it has kept me from using the ipod for what i mainly use it for in the first place, music. Ever scince the latest version of iTunes, where the icon became red, i have bee having this major problem. I suggest you work to find an answer to this Problem and fix it ASAP so i can get back to enjoying my portable music player.

  • Why does my ipod touch 5th generation die so fast?

Okay! I received my iPod Touch 5g as an Xmas gift (back in 2012). During  majority of 2013, my iPod's battery barely drained as it does today. In,October of last year (when i updated to ios 7) that's when I noticed the change. It charged very quickly (100%) and went to (20%) in 40 mins. Does anyone else have this problem?
    Other info:
Warranty- has been up (Xmas 2013)
    Restoring: didn't solve my issue
    Firmware: 7.1.2
p.s. I have an iPhone 5 and iPad 2 on the same firmware. they were not affected  as much as my iPod has been.

  • Why does my IPod touch 5th generation battery drain quickly? Is this a defect?

My battery seems to drain in about 3 hrs or less when I play a game, listen to music, etc( when it's fully charged too) and I'm not even using the Internet . Please help me, if this is a defect then I'll return it to apple and get another one.

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon.  The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use an Apple wall-mount charger and charge overnight.  Do NOT use a computer USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  I don't play games but I expect that you'll get six to eight hours.  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

Do the Ipod Touch 5th generation support AVRCP for bluetooth connectivity.
I would like to know if it supports the volume control, call answering function and next/back song panel in a bluetooth headphone. (AVRCP bluetooth)
Does it support headphones with microphone? (for Face Time, TinyChat or recording)
Does it support this device on bluetooth with the Ipod Touch 5th Gen?

Though this wasn't updated (not having the Ipod Touch 5) but seeing the Ipod Touch 4 having both AVRCP and A2DP, Ipod Touch 5 should also have those...
Thank you so much... Have a wonderful day

  • When does the iPod touch 5th generation come out?

I am saving up for the iPod touch 5th generation. I want to know when it comes out so I can pre-order if I need to. I know there are a ton of other questions exactly like this one online every where. But please answer this one, with thought.

You can't preorder anymore, if you want more accurate and up to date news on the release date info, look at my discussion : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4384395?tstart=0

  • Why does my Ipod touch 5th gen not sync podcasts with my Windows Itunes? Both are up to date with versions.

I didn't see this asked so sorry if this is a duplicate question.
In Itunes (it is the most recent version for windows available as of 2/12/2014) all my podcasts are showing they have downlaoded to my PC. They don't have the little cloud next to them. I sync my Ipod touch 5th gen. The sync shows everything was synced. I look at the "Whats on this ipod" tab and they are listed. But when I disconnect the ipod via the "eject" icon on the Ipod button in itunes and look at the podcasts they still show as not downloaded (greyed out and if wifi is turned on the little cloud is next to them ).
So whats going on? I had this issue with my ipod touch 4th gen as well and though it was because the podcast app stopped upgrading but the itunes on windwos did. But the syncing of the podcasts are even worse with the 5th gen then they were with the 4th gen.
I typically don't have wifi turned on since I want to sync the ipod via itunes. So I have a central place to keep the old podcasts without having to take space on the ipod itself. I saw some references to the downloading of podacasts are done only via wifi, but that just didn't make sense. Why be able to sync Itunes if they are just going to turn around and make you do the same on the device?
    Any ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks for the help in advance.

  • Why does my ipod touch 5th gen not charge when plugged into my computer? (it keeps stuttering(lightning symbol next to bettery goes on and off literally every second))

so I have my ipod touch 5th gen connect and the little lightning symbol, next to the battery on the top left, keeps flashing on and off every second. I don't know what to do and also it doesn't show up on iTunes.

Hey Ed, Try trouble shooting 101. Do you have a different cable and/or charging device? If so, try the different cable first, then a different charging device. If the problem goes away, I'd say it's the cable, replace it. If with in 1 from date of purchase, Apple will replace for free if the cable is found to be defective. If the problem continues with a different cable or a different charging device, then the problem is with your iPod. With a strong light and a magnifying glass look in the iPod's charging port. Your looking for damage in and around the port. Is the port lose? (shouldn't be). Are pieces missing or damaged? Bent or damaged contact pins can do what you describe. Foreign debris, namely pocket lint or corrosion can also cause charging issues. If you see something like lint, try to blow it out, or if you must use a non-conductive probe, I find a round wooden toothpick works well to carefully remove the lint from the bottom of the port. Just be careful to not touch, bend or damage the gold contact pins on the long side of the port. Also make sure the locking pins on the short ends (looks like two silver bumps, one on each end) of the port are free to move. If you find corrosion, try plugging / unplugging about 12 times to clean the contacts off. If you must use a cotton swab cut to fit, with a drop of 91% isopropyl alcohol on it, you want it damp, not wet, then plug it in and out until the swab comes out clean. You will most likely need several swabs. If you find nothing physically wrong, then try resetting your iPod. If that does not work, restore from backup, last resort, make a backup then restore to new, a full factory restore. If issue continues see your Apple store and have it evaluated for a possible hardware issue. But start with a different or new cable. Good luck, Cheers.

  • IPod touch 5th generation not turning on

Hello, my iPod Touch 5th gen will not turn on. When I woke up, it would not switch on from pressing the home button or holding down the top button. Last night, it was working when I put it on the charger. The only change that I had made to the iPod was that I put the newer model of headphones in and left them there overnight, but I don't think that would have caused any problems.

  • Why does the iPod Touch 5th gen 16 GB, not have a rear-facing camera?

I am looking to replace my daughter's iPod Touch 4th Gen 16GB, but I can not find a model like hers that has a rear-facing camera. The new 5th gen 16GB, only has a front-facing camera, where the 32GB and the 64GB have front-facing and rear-facing cameras.
My question is, why is that?

lllaass said it, because thats the budget version, its much cheaper. The 16GB costs 229$ and the other ones with the back facing camera 319$ or 419$.
Apple always sold a budget version of the iTouch.
With the 2G in 2008, the 8GB was much cheaper than the 16 or 32 GB.
With the 3G in 2009, the parallel kept the 8GB 2G for a reduced price.
The 8GB 4G in 2010 was also cheaper than the 32 or 64GB one.
In 2012 - June 2013 they kept the 4G iPod next to the 5G.
And now the only sell one model - which is the 5G due to the fact that only this model can run iOS 7, and they needed to remove a feature in order to reduce the price.

  • Why does my ipod touch 4th generation lose power even when it's turned off?

When my ipod touch is turned off for a couple of days, it loses most of it's charge.  Is this normal?

Are you turning the iPod Off via depressing the Power button until the Slide to Power Off appear and sliding it? If not the iPod is sleeping and the iPod is still doing stuff when sleeping and it is normal for the battery to fully discharge is  a few days, especially if wifi is on.
If you are really powering the iPod off that is not normal and indicates a hardware problem.

  • Why does my iPod Touch 4th Generation freeze?

Hey everyone. I'm on iOS 5.1.1. After I slide to unlock my iTouch, the screen doesn't respond from 5-7 seconds. This happens every time when I haven't used the iPod for a couple of minutes. I don't want to turn off my auto lock, because I forget to lock my screen and it uses the battery. When my bluetooth is enabled, the iPod doesn't freeze after I slide to unlock. I don't want the bluetooth on because I don't want it using anymore battery than its already using. I have restored/reset my iPod numerous of times.

It really helps if you restart the whole thing. You see the problem is that when you use your ipod allot ,you take up allot of memory so thats why it freezes and it may go to the extent that your ipod may not work if you dont " RESET ALL SETTINGS". I try this and afterwards it was working PERFERCTLY. you go to setting>>general>>reset>>RESET ALL SETTINGS  then it should work without freezing if it still have problems then i suggest taking it to the apple store. I hope it helped anyone.
