Why does my keyboard lighting stay on its lowest setting?

why does my keyboard lighting stay on its lowest setting?

Negative, that was the first thing I tried. I've also reset the SMC, nothing.
I can see a little bit of light ubder the keys (white light, not blue) when I dim my screen to the lowest setting, but when I press F6 to strenghten the light, it does not get any brighter.

Actually, if the setting is correct in Sys Prefs, and it's dark enough, and the lights still don't work, try an SMC Reset (not a PRAM Reset): http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964.

  • Why does the green light stay on at the top of my screen where pictures are taken?

MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.2  - at the top of the frame of the screen a green light stays on - I think this is the camera.  Is there a way to shut if off?

This procedure may show which program is using the camera. It makes no changes, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem. It will only work while the green LED is on. The instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    sudo lsof -Fc +D /L*/Cor*/*/*/AppleCamera.plugin | sed '2!d;s/^.//' | pbcopy
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Confirm. You don't need to post the warning.
If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered.
The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

  • Why does the amber light stay on even though the WiFi works?

    My WIFi just stopped yesterday.
Initially nothing worked. I then Restarted the router—then the Airport Extreme–NOTHING.  I called Apple support. He had me push the re-start button and a few other things.  I can now get on WIFi, but the amber light still stays on. Why? Although my Mac works great, my iPhone doesn't.
    Any ideas?

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref:Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

  • Why does my keyboard light flashes sometimes?

I own a white square good old macbook, not a macbook pro. I believe this was released on early 2009. I see light flashes under the keys every now and then. From what I have read, this model was not supposed to light at all,  Is it dangerous? could it be somehow dusty or damaged under the keys?

Try resetting SMC.     Apple support article mentions that.

  • Why does the keyboard cover text fields ios 8

Why does the keyboard cover text fields in safari in ios 8 in safari?  I've never had this problem before, but now when a text field is near the bottom of the page, I can't move it above the keyboard.  If there any fix? This is extremely annoying and renders filling in text on many web pages impossible.

This solved it for me. I only needed to split it once before it was fixed (but shouldn't have had to do it at all). Thanks, chuck9999, you're my hero!

Re: Why does the keyboard cover text fields ios 8in response to TeraBI had the exact same problem on my iPad Air and it's working fine now. Try toggling your keyboard a few times between split and regular using the keyboard key in the lower right corner.  I also then docked the keyboard a few times.  The turned-off/rebooted the iPad and it's worked fine ever since.  I stumbled upon the fix reading another post, and it did work although not sure why.  My guess is toggling the keyboard and rebooting updated something in the "registry".

  • Why does my Keyboard overlay Messages in IOS 8?

When I respond to a message on iOS8 the keyboard overlays the previous text messages so I have to scroll to see them. Is there a way so the keyboard doesn't overlay the text? Or will it be fixed in an update? Every other iOS version autoscrolled and this is the first that didn't.

This solved it for me. I only needed to split it once before it was fixed (but shouldn't have had to do it at all). Thanks, chuck9999, you're my hero!

it blocks about 1/4 of the page. but when i turn the ipad to horizontal it goes away.

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit the Kindle App and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by e tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Why does my keyboard have a gap in it?

If the keyboard is split and covering your text, Pull the two ends of the keyboard together - into the middle of the screen. You can also tap and hold down on the little keyboard icon in the lower right corner of the keyboard and select - Dock and Merge.
If the keyboard is up on the middle of the screen, but not split, and you want to move it back to the bottom - tap and hold down on the little keyboard and icon and select - Dock
You can turn the split keyboard off in Settings>General>Keyboard>Split Keyboard>Off.
