Are you talking about the spell checking? Or the keyboard layout? Safari, or some other browser?
For spellcheck, go to system prefs/language & text/text/spelling and set it to British English. Also go to system prefs/language & text/language and use the Edit button to add British English to the top of the list.

On my older Macbook at work, calendar stays full screen whether I exit the app or restart the computer (similar to Mail - which is staying in full screen on both computers).

HI Thanks so much! It fixed porblem (for the moment) by reinstalling PS6 and NOT installing the 13.03 update which, although said it was performance related, probaly had that trial messge embeded in it. So just DON"T install update 13.03 till adobe gets it's sea legs and stops puking up this message over and over. aloha, U

Do you have gfxCardStatus installed? Is your monitor set to "Integrated" or "Discrete". You want it set to Discrete to drive the external HDMI display.

Are you sure you have a good miniDisplayPort to HDMI cable?
Do you have another HDMI display you can test against (your neighbor's HDMI capable TV).
Do you have friend that can test the cable using their Mac and maybe their TV or a monitor that has HDMI input.

Why does iTunes invite me to log on every time I launch it? It never used to do this. How can I stop it ? When I open the app I usually want to just listen to the music collection I have in it, not download anything or buy from the store.
How can I stop this default ?

I have checked and it isn't.
This never used to happen, but I suspect something changed at the last iTunes update.

Re-installing iTunes wont erase your folders, unless your iTunes is a very old version pre-iTunes 9 series.
I would suggest to download the latest iTunes, it would solve your problem as in this earlier post

Why does FEBE backup popup window pop up every time I open the Firefox browser, even after I just backed up FEBE????

Since I installed 7.0.1, it has been nothing but trouble. It locks up frequently. Menu and add-on toolbar does not always load. FEBE does not recognize any previous backup, and wants to backup every time Firefox is opened, every time, even if I open multiple windows. The only way I could stop the FEBE popup was to schedule it to backup on browser shutdown or start up. Any scheduled option, including NO SCHEDULED BACKUP makes no difference. As soon as I open the browser the FEBE backup popup, pops up. I want a previous version back.

You can delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.

Why does my computer disconnect from Wi-fi every time it goes to sleep?

I'm currently on OS 10.8 but this problem started happening a while after I started using the new OS. It actually started when I moved into a new house. Every time my computer goes to sleep it disconnects from the wifi singnal and so everytime I come back onto the computer I have to choose which wifi network I want to use. I've tried using different routers and now actually use a new Airport Express but the problem persists.
I think I had this problem many years ago and an apple employee just clicked some network setting and it never happened again when I brought the Mini back home. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

It may be that your messages are set to automatically delete the messages after they are sent. Go into message then under settings look to see if it says auto delete and change the program.

Preview: Why does it open the last few documents every time it opens?

Whenever I open a file in 'Preview' (any kind of .PDF, .jpeg, etc.) it opens with 2 or 3 windows; the file that I just opened, and also the last 2 or 3 files that I looked at.
Why is it doing this? I've looked through the Preview preferences and I can't find anything that sounds like this.
How do I turn this off?

By turning off autoresume from System Preferences or closing the documents before quitting Preview.

I log on to by bank and firefox remembers my account #, but when the next screen pops up the bank does not recognize my computer. Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Why does a video play through my headphones every time I hit play on them?!

When using my headphones and hitting play/pause a video from my last iphone plays through them. It only does it with the headphones.

Prob should have said when I'm trying to play music it plays that video instead even if music was already playing and I paused and hit play again
