Why does my mac restart after fully charging?

I'm new to my mac and I'm a little confused over why it acts in a certain way.
So I close it and put it to charge every night. In the morning when I wake up, I unplug it and it makes a strange mechanical noise and restarts. I type in my password, then some loading bars appear, then have to type my password in again and from then on it works normally... But I would like to know how to avoid the restarting process. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there a problem with the battery?
I'm new to macs all together, so what might seem like an obvious solution to you, may not be so clear to me!
Grateful for any advice.

Hi Maki
When you open the laptop does it do a full restart? As in it goes black, plays the iconic apple startup chime, displays a splash screen and loading bar, and then prompts you for log in?
A full restart after waking is suspicious. Typically when removing power from the macbook, it will make a few noises as the optical drive cycles up, or the hard drive spins. It should then either load your desktop or bring up the log in page where you are to type in your password. Occasionally if the macbook has been asleep for a very long time it might write an image to disk and load from there. This would show when you open your macbook, and it seems unresponsive for a moment as it loads from the file then prompts you to log in. It's a rather lengthy process when it does this. I know for my mid 2012 macbook pro that was the case. I replaced the hard drive with an SSD but mainly I changed my hibernate mode to never write a disk to file, and never load from it. It drove me bonkers having to wait every time I opened the thing.

  • Why does my Mac restart after it sits idle for a while?

I just installed Yosemite on my Mac Pro.  If I let the computer sit idle, the screen saver comes on and after a while, it logs out of both my and my wife's desktops, then restarts on its own.  I then find myself staring at the login screen.  When I log in, I get a crash report saying the computer shut down unexpectedly.  I've sent notifications to Apple each time...at least a dozen times already.  How can this be fixed?

Thanks for responding so quickly, Barney-15E.  I realize that we are all just everyday people trying to help each other.  I was concerned only because I've never gone this long without somebody responding in some way.  It's highly unusual.  I appreciate anything you can suggest.  As you requested, here is the most recent panic report:

  • Why does my mac restart after put to sleep,

After putting my Mac computer to sleep and coming back after a few hours I move the mouse or press space bar and the computer restarts itself. I don't what this to happen.

sounds like it crashed could be
1 a program which failed and pulled the system down with it
    2 a system software failure
    3 a hardware defect

  • Why does my iPod go from fully charged to charging while plugged in?

Ok I reseted the setting it's still is draining when not plugged in :( my question is why is it going
From fully charged to charging while its plugged in? Am I not
Suppose to use it while its charging? I wish apple would hurry fix this by upgrading
The 6.1.3 to 7 for iPod g 4. Is anyone else having a battery problem?

The iPod always runs off the battery, not from outside power.  So if you are using your iPod, you are draining the battery.  If your iPod is connected to a charging source at the same time you are using it, after the battery has drained a bit from usage, the iPod will start charging the battery. This is perfectly normal.

  • Why does my mac restart when using FCP X?

When using Final Cut Pro, why does my Macbook Pro restart the middle of a project?

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Why does Australian Mac App store STILL charge more than US?

Even with the revision on pricing by Apple yesterday, the Oz App store still makes Aussies pay more than apps bought from US App store for Americans. Aperture US=US$79.99, Aperture OZ=AUD$84.99. According to Bloomberg currency conversion today, Aussies should only be paying AUD $74.21. So in real terms why are we slugged an extra AUD$10 more, which would equate to US10.78? The more expensive the app the bigger the difference in cost to us. And why should there be ANY difference considering this is all digital & no packaging or postage involved? Apple, if you are going to change your pricing, please base it on actual exchange rates & make it REAL! You will then find Aussie uptake for apps much greater, same goes for other countries in a similar position.

Folks are directing their feedback on the  MAS to Mac OS X Snow Leopard because it is currently a Snow Leopard related app, it comes with the OS's update.
Questioning Apple's decisions about its business and products is a violation of the Terms of Use for the ASC. You agreed not to do so when you opened your account. It may be a legitimate question on other people's forums, but not here.
It is ranting, because all manner of sharing experience about doing business in foreign nations goes ignored in the thread to which I linked, and any others around. BTW, the US prices do not yet have any taxes added to them. The taxes are added at checkout in the US MAS. That is not the case in the MAS for many other nations.

  • Why does my Mac Book pro keep restarting

why does my Mac Book pro keep restarting and how can it be fixed

It would be nice if you could include a kernel panic log to verify that your problem is...
Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:
Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):
             com.apple.GeForce(6.4.0)@0x82ac4000->0x82b7afff

Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The unfortunate thing is that many people have passed the “three years from date of purchase” now and Apple is not honoring the free logic board replacement for many users. Some dealers seem to be making some exceptions for those past the three year mark, but don’t count on it…
    Good luck,

  • How many hours does a brand new battery last after fully charged. I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro.

How many hours does a brand new battery last after fully charged. I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro.

clintonfrombirmingham is right, there is no way to exactly tell. But from personal experience, a new battery on a 2008 will last for about 2 1/2 hours with a higher screen brightness and doing something taxing to the battery (like gaming or running lots of 3D programs). But if you're just listening to music with the brightness all the way down, and no programs running, you could get up to 12 hours. So for average use, it should last you a whole business day (assuming you don't use it more than 30% 0f the time). Hope this kind of gives you more of an idea of what to expect:)

Why does my keychain close after 1 hour from restart or logout/login.

You mean the keychain closes or it locks?
What is your current keychain lock time?
You may need to open the Keychain Access utility, select the keychain, and choose Edit/Change Settings for Keychain to change the lock time.

Why does my mac air always restart when I open it in our university?
This has been always bothering me for some time already. Whenever I open my macbook air in our university it always warns me to restart my device. When I do the same thing happens over and over again until it reached 27 reports.

I'd make a sound too if i was put into a bag haha.
Only thing i could think of it it has a mind of its own or your putting your computer to sleep. Try shutting down your mac before placing in your bag and see if that changes things.
