Why does my Macbook Pro have to sit in a retail shop for 5 days 'waiting in line' before it can be repaired?  Why can I not schedule a repair?

I've recently experienced an issue with the Apple Retail store.  I have been told by 2 different retail stores that my machine must wait at the store for 5 days before being repaired.  Although the parts are in stock - that is how long the line is.  Ofcourse I asked - why can't I schedule to bring my machine in a couple of days before the repair is to be done?  The response was basically that is not how Apple does it.  So if the turn around time for a repair is 2day - but the queue is backed up 5 days, my machine must sit there doing nothing for 5 days.  Unbelievable.

You are addressing an audience that is not affiliated with Apple.  We can't help you.

No. The Mac does not have anything to run Windows
You must install either virtualizrion software or use BootCamp to create a partition for Windows. Once you have done that then you must install Windows.

does the macbook pro have the capacity to print directly to blank cd?  If not- can you suggest an add-on product that will work with the mac pro?

Unless you have a printer that can feed and print on a physical CD then you cannot. This isn't a function of the computer. Printers can usually print onto labels of any sort, but not directly onto the disc itself.

• Does the macbook pro have a 'dv terminal'?

I have macbook pro and panasonic dv video camera. Panasonic manual says I can use a dv interface cable to connect the camera to the computer if the computer has a dv terminal. Does the mac have a dv terminal? is it one of the firewire ports?
many thanks

Hi nandi,
always learning something new here: I have never heard the term 'dv terminal' but a quick goodgle search showed that this is another name for a 4-pin FireWire port.
So since the MacBook Pro has two FireWire ports the answer is YES.
But be aware that the Firewire ports on the MacBook Pro are full-sized ports either 6-pins for Firewire400 or 9-pins for Firewire800.
So the usual 4pins connector for Camcorder does not fit.
Regards
Stefan

• SOLUTION:  DOES MY 2011 MACBOOK PRO HAVE 3G OR 6G IN OPTICAL BAY FOR SSD? *ANSWER*

Hey guys, I just wanted to share the love and tell you I've finally spoken with Apple tech support (had to go through a handful of them to find the answer).. I have a Late 2011 MacBook Pro (8,2) (MacBookPro8,2), which was *PURCHASED ON APRIL 4, 2012* and wanted to upgrade both the main HD and the optical bay/SuperDrive with Dual SSD's.. but saw so much conflicting info. on the internet about how some 2011 MacBook Pros only have 3G capabilities for the optical drive, where others (released later on) had 6G drive capabilities in BOTH the main drive and optical drive bay..
so now I'm probably sure you're asking yourself...
WHICH CONNECTOR DOES MY MACBOOK PRO SUPPORT FOR A 2ND SSD IN THE OPTICAL DRIVE/SUPERDRIVE BAY?
3G (SATA-II) OR 6G (SATA-III)
I literally had to call Apple a half a dozen times, spoke to 2 different managers, and then eventually got them to spill the beans.. The thing with Apple is that they beat around the bush big time when it comes to things like you personally replacing/upgrading components.. As soon as you bring up the connector for the optical bay, they start asking questions.. It eventually took me to 5th call to end up speaking with some chill dude who was able to pull up my "About My Mac" and interpret if I were part of the 2011-MacBook Pro releases which had the (6G main + 3G optical) or the group that had the (6G main + 6G optical).. Literally tried everywhere on the internet, but SO HAPPY to finally have a solid answer from Apple themselves..
My specific MacBook Pro Model:
MacBook Pro (8,2) - Late 2011 (purchased April 4, 2012) - 2.4GHz Intel Core i7 - 15"
*SOLUTION*
If you pull open your "About this Mac", click "More Info", and then "System Report", click on "SATA" on the left column, and then if your stats in those windows match the stats from the 2 screenshots I posted, then your Optical Drive Bay/SuperDrive is equipped and handle a 6G/SATA-III drive or SSD! I'm pretty sure that it doesn't matter at all what your "MacBookProX,x" number is, as long as you have #'s that match mine in those screenshots, you're good to go!
ENJOY!

Could you provide some rationale(s) behind it?  As far as I know, the mid 2010 Macbook Pro, the HDD is running via the SATA interface at running at 3.0 Gb/s, which is SATA II, and the Super-drive and/or the Optical drive, which is also running via SATA II interface, so I would assume the performance (i.e. primarily in speed) would be similar if not the same by placing the SSD drive in either one of the two places.
Also, wouldn't it be better by placing the SSD in the optical so the OEM HDD could be kept in the original main bay since it has the shock-sensing feature there?

• Does the macbook pro have a cd drive?

Hello i was thinking about getting the macbook pro and was wondering if it still came with a CD/ DVD player drive?

Also, the MBP 13 has 1280x800 resolution, not the higher 1440x900 resolution of the MBA.
I bought a MBA 13 last month; it died after 10 days, was returned, and I replaced it with a MBP 13 (which is on sale at Fry's Electronics this week for $999). It's a tough call between the two. The speed of the SSD and the lighter weight of the MBA are nice; built-in optical drive and 500gb HDD, Ethernet port, both USB ports on the same side, and a slightly more rounded case profile are assets of the MBP. At the same price, I would probably go for the MBA, but with a $200 price differential, the MBP was too good to pass up.

• Does a Macbook Pro have iWeb already on it?

I'm purchasing a MacBook Pro and have always loved iWeb, does iWeb come on the MacBook Pro?? And does Garageband and iMovie too??

No. iWeb is no longer supported nor is iDVD. iMovie, GarageBand, and iPhoto are still included with new Macs.
If you have iWeb already it will still work. After June 2012 there will be some funtions of iWeb that were used specifically for Mobile Me will no longer work. If you are using iWeb for a website on Mobile Me then you will need to find an alternative hosting service before the end of June 2012.

• How much RAM does the MacBook Pro have?

I need at least 4GB RAM preferably 8GB RAM.... it is for school and i have many games and scrapbook tools for my electives.... please help.

Are you planning on buying a MacBook Pro or do you already have one? Apple sells MBPs (non-Retina) with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM. The problem with buying RAM from Apple is that it's so expensive. If you ordered a 4GB machine, for instance, you could upgrade it yourself to 8GB or 16GB without voiding the warranty.
So if you're buying - go with a 'base' 4GB model and buy the RAM and install it yourself.
