Why does my nano shut off during pause when running?

I have 3 ipods. I have no issues with my classic nano but I purchased latest nano because of its size and easy to read buttons during a run.  I use Nike plus to track all of my runs and especially need to log my runs as one.  However, if I pause to take a short break during a long run (a minute to a minute and a half at the most), my ipod does not allow me to resume.  After a short time I hear "your workout is complete".  This is so frustrating because now I show split runs in the same day, can't record accurate information on Nike plus. I have only had it for a few weeks and have already reset it.  Has anyone else had this problem.

We use nike+ also so we understand. The tracking is really nice as long as you're calibrated.  It probs is a default in fitness mode to save power - we haven't had a need to pause yet.  The battery must be really small compared to prev gen nanos.  Our gen 4 lasts days and days before needing recharging.
The nano 6 is very pricey if you don't use the updated fitness mode and not nearly as popular as it once was.

  • Why does my iPhone shut off during restore?

My iPhone 4 randomly shut off one night while it was charging. Now while the phone is unplugged, the screen is black. If I plug it into the computer and hold the lock button and home button for 10 seconds (DFU mode) I get to a screen with a USB cable and a blue itunes logo and I can see the device in itunes. In itunes there is an option that says "Restore iPhone...". After I click "Restore iPhone..." it begins to restore normally, but once itunes says "Preparing iPhone for Restore" my iPhone screen goes blank and the restore ends with a message that says "The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2001)." I've looked all over the internet for solutions, but I can't find any. So if anyone knows what's going on with it, please let me know. Thanks.

Im having this same issue with various errors (1611, 21). Did you find a solution or does anyone else know how to resolve this? Thanks!

  • Why  does my nano shut off by itself?

i would like to know why

That is the way it is set up by default... to sleep in order to preserve battery life.  You can change the time interval on it, but I have not yet read of any way to prevent it from sleeping.  You just have to touch the sleep/wake button to re-awaken it, though.

  • Why does my iphone shut down my computer when i have pictures on my phone

Why does my iphone shut down my computer when I plug into the USB port when I have pictures on my phone.  My computer says it has found a new digital camera - then my computer shuts down.

Thank you Lawrence.  I forgot I used to run a Logitech webcam several years ago and I hadn't uninstalled program when I changed the camera to a different one.  I uninstalled the camera and it now seems to accept my phone with pictures onto my computer without shutting my computer down. I really appreciate your help with this problem.

  • HT1430 Why does my iPad shut off about every 1 minute and then comes back on?

Why does my iPad shut down every minute and then come back on ?

Try to reset your settings... Settings--general--reset (at bottom of list)--reset all settings
    Try an iOS software restore
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Otherwise you may need to have apple repair the device

  • Why does my iphone shut off??

Can anyone tell me why my iphone always shuts off by it self? Its starting to **** me off.

Well, I finally broke down after months of fighting this issue and sprung for a new battery for my two year old 3GS, along with professional install for $50. Interestingly, they ran a diagnostic, thinking my two year old battery was running UNDER voltage and that's why it was shutting off with 70-80% life still in it. Turns out it was OVER volting, not under. Go figure. New battery installed and I have run it through two drain cycles, streaming stuff to try to replicate the issue. Seems to be running like a new phone now. Isn't shutting off until it is truly drained, as it should. :)

  • When I try editing my photos, like cropping, why does my iPod shut off?

When I try cropping certain photos in my photo library, sometimes my iPod will get a gray screen with the loading symbol in the middle, then it will just shut off! I don't know why it does that and it gets very annoying. Please help, thank you.

Probably because you do not have the headphones plugged all the way in. Make sure the plastic on the headphone jack is flush with the body of the Nano.
Incidentally, you are not running iOS 1.x

  • Macbook Pro Help Please! Why does it randomly shut off?

My late 2009 Macbook OSX 10.9.2 keeps on randomly shutting down. When it's charging, everything works fine. However, if not, the computer randomly shuts off either 2 min into when I use it or 20 min into it. Below I have included the power report and ASL (apple system log) Please let me know if I should provide anything else. Many thanks!

    Previous Shutdown Cause: -74
A negative shutdown code, if it happens repeatedly, may indicate a hardware problem. If it happens only once, the cause is uncertain. The precise meaning of the codes is not publicly documented.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

what are you doing when this happens?

  • Why does my G5 shut off for no reason?

My powerPC G5 with OS X 5.8 has been shutting down very abruptly and for no apparent reason.  I'll be working and 'poof' - off. It restarts fine with no mention of what just happened. It's done this occasioanally, but twice today.
I'm wondering what the first course of action is. I'm thinking running some sort of drive check/repair, but am not sure how.
I do have it plugged into a ups back up. One thing I've noticed is that when it does shut off there seems to be clicks or other sounds from other electronic devices around. It's slight and quick so I'm never quite sure what just happened. I don't know if the action my PowerPC G5 is taking is causing other electronic responces or if it is a power surge that is causing everything to respond and in the instance of my PowerPC G5 it just shuts off. Immediately and with no drawn out shut off.
I've not lost any data, but it is annoying and worrying.

One reason might be it is overheating.  I run the free version of iStat menus which lets me monitor hard drive temperatures (all I can do on my G4 - newer computers let you montor CPU).
What exact model G5 is this?  I think laptops may be particularly prone to overheating, especially if you put them on a oft surface and inhibit air flow.
Have you checked the crash logs to see if they say anything?

  • Why does my computer shut off when optimizing pix??

Your battery gauge needs to be recalibrated. The gauge "thinks" you have 20%, but the battery doesn't agree. You need to run the battery all the way down until the phone shuts off, then charge for 4 hours with the wall adapter. You may need to do this more than once if it is way off calibration.

  • Why does my MacBook shut off every time it is unplugged?

Every time that I unplug my MacBook it immediately shuts off. I have read similar stories but there is no black or red "x" on my battery icon. I have tried to take the battery out and put it back in but it didn't work. The light on the plug in is green and I'm not sure what is wrong. Any ideas?

If you are within an area whose Apple Store has a Genius bar or other product specialist on staff, or an independent authorized Apple Specialist retail, you could have the computer checked, a diagnostic. In those instances where you could take it to an Apple Store in the US or Canada, the diagnostic would be free, and you would need to set an appointment ahead of time, because they have a scheduled interval for helping people.
There is a chance the 'magsafe inboard' or what some call a 'DC-in board' may have failed. Sometimes when that happens, the power is not routed to where it is supposed to go; so a good Battery and good AC Adapter may not be enough.
An expert or specialist could diagnose this issue.
    Also, if you are able, willing, don't mind a gamble;
see the MB repair guides at http://ifixit.com online.
However I've read some DIY repairs have ended up a
'more expensive bargain' after user-induced damage.
    Good luck & happy computing!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
