Why does my pencil shape change?

Good Afternoon:
I'm using Elements 8 to clean up scanned line drawings for service manuals and catalogs. While I was working on an image the pencil tool changed from a square shape to a rectangle. With the pencil size set to 1 point, the rectangle appears to be approximately a 2 x 2 square. I can't think of anything I did to cause the change and I can't seem to get the 1 pt pencil back, including rebooting. Has anyone run into this before or have a suggestion to solve the problem?

If you are referring to the line tool (have never seen a pencil tool in PSEv.8), click on the little downward facing arrow, top left, in the tool's option bar.
Then, reset the tool. That may fix it.

Which is your OS version ?
Your screen is 1920 by 1080 pixels.
The problem appeared after having worked normally.
When we select a picture from the organizer (album) and click on the edit button. The editor software changes the entire computer resolution from 1920 x 1080 to 640 x 480 (very unusable).
That's not clear for me: did you click on the 'Edit' button on the bottom right part of the organizer, or did you use the menu or the right click popup menu to open the editor? In the second case, you are in the editor workspace.
We tried right clicking on the Elements 13 icon, select properties and under compatibility we made sure that "run in 640 x 480 screen resolution" was de-selected, and it was. Cannot find any properties window for the editor?
The editor has its properties in the 'Edit/preferences' menu, but there is nothing about resolution there.
Just to be sure : when you are in the organizer with the left 'Folders' panel shown, you highlight one of those pictures to edit. Then you right click and choose to "go to folder". Do the images are shown as 'offline' ? If that is the case, the original are on an external drive which is not connected, and what you are seeing is a 'preview' copy on your computer with 640 x 480 resolution.

Why does Lion KEEP reversing changes you make in address book and other applications without your consent and without wanting it to??? Plus address book will NOT import old address book contacts from Snow Lepoard 10.6 and keep them. This Lion OXS 7 is .. becoming very frustrating ... it will NOT keep changes made in the Address Book and it has destroyed my contacts which I only have electronically since 10.4 in my address book. I am NOT happy with this OS7 it has a lot of issues and faults. How can one stop automatic reversing of data when inputting???

Relax. Your address book database is corrupted.
If you are syncing your Contacts with MobileMe or something else, disable it for now.
Backup your address book by going to File>Export>Address Book Archive.
Quit Address Book.
Open your Library by holding down the Option (alt) key while selecting the Go menu in Finder. Select Library. Navigate into your Application Support/AddressBook folder and delete the addressbook-v22.abcddb file.
Open Address Book. It will recreate the database from the raw data.
See how that works. If it is ok, then reenable syncing and see how that works.

That's probably a broken display profile. The conversion from Library's Adobe RGB is different than the conversion from Develop's linear ProPhoto, so if there's a problem with the display profile it can show up this way.
Recalibrate, or if you don't have a calibrator use sRGB. If your monitor is a wide gamut model use Adobe RGB.
Assuming Windows, change it in Control Panel > Color Management > Devices, and relaunch Lightroom so that it can pick up the new profile at startup:

My font/text changes when I switch from Classic 3D to Ray traced 3D. Why is it doing this? Also, I cant get the font/txt to look the same after I switch from Classic to Ray traced. How can I get it to look the same?

Okay so after looking at it a little closer, I think the color is what mostly changes. The first screenshot is the what the text look like with Classic 3D and the second screenshot is what it looks like after I change it to Ray traced 3D. Also under the "Mode" section..the pull down that says "Normal" disappears. I'm wondering why the font color is changing?

I have just recently bought photoshop, When I use the magnifier, it sometimes zooms on the left mouse button and zooms out on the right mouse button. Other times it dosn't do this. Why does it keep changing and how do I get it to stay on L/R button zoom?
I have just created my new site that has many English teachers on Skype All this was done using Photoshop cs6 but I had the problem with the zoom the whole time!!

WDS-Why does my rate keep changing?

I have a WDS network with one remote base station. So I expect the ability of the throughput to be cut by 25%. Thats no big deal to me cause the possible rate is 54 with my g devices and a 25%cut in ability is well above the 7Mbps we are buying.
My question. In Airport utility/Advanced/Wireless Clients I see the rate of the Main Base Station is 54. But the rate of the Remote Base Station is sometimes 48 or 36 or 24. Why does it change?

Oops, right. Sorry my first post was wrong, the WDS reduces throughput by half with each relay or remote.

Why does my Ipad suddenly start changing screens and sites randomly on it's own? It's like it spazzes out rather frequently for no apparent reson.

It's hard to say why, but try rebooting the device by pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously until the screen goes blank and you see the apple logo. It should take about 10-15 seconds to reboot. See if this stops it.

This coding seems to change the the lead selection of the context node, which leads to problems somewhere else.

         i dont think there is a need for looping in this manner.
         you just get all the values of a node into an internal table.
         and then loop the internal table an make changes in it.
         then clear the node and pass this currently changed internal table into the node.
          the lead selection changes because you are setting the attribute and it might be stored in index 1 or the to the index where the lead selection is referred to. this might be your problem.

Why does premiere elements 8 change a 29.97 fps to a 25 when conforming?

I have a project setting of NTSC HDV 1440 x 1080 with a frame rate of 29.97. when i import video, it conforms and indexes it and then suddenly the frame rate is no longer 29.97 but 25? why does it do this?

Why does my session ID change actionResponse.sendRedirect()?

Any ideas why my session ID would change after executing actionResponse.sendRedirect(<insert absolute url to a page in the same application>)?
50% of the time my session id persists after sendRedirect(). The other 50% of the time the session id changes. This happens without making any changes to the application.
Any ideas are welcomed.

actionResponse.sendRedirect() supports 1)absolute URL and 2)full URI. try with full URI.
Apart from these,why do you need to do the redirection ? If requires that,you can do it very well using taskflow.

Why would my line attenuation have gone from 65dB to 72.3dB? I think there is a bad connection on my line, but BT's test equipment says my line is fine.

and can confirm the following:

all copper and is on the best E and D side cables available.
We have changed
the network equipment in the exchange on multiple occasions.
And it doesn’t
look like there is any more physical work can be carried out.
The report I’m
waiting for from BT Wholesale is about a known issue that we have had with
certain exchange equipment which is used to make the phone ring when it is
being called and causing the broadband connections to drop, I need this to
confirm if your line is affected by this specific issue.
I think you
have spoke with Donal earlier today and discussed the option of moving onto an
8meg service instead of the upto 20meg, and you told him this has been tried
before and did not work, can you remember roughly when this was so I can check
it with BT Wholesale?
What happens
next
There is still
an engineer on his way out to you tomorrow between 1pm and 6pm. I’m not sure
what this engineer will be able to do given that we have had it confirmed that
you are already on the best lines available but we will see how he gets on and
take it from there. (Might get a nice surprise!)

call tomorrow to confirm the update from the chief engineers office and also
see if the engineer has been out on site with you.

Thanks for the reply, some of the information in your email isn’t correct.
The D-side is only the “best lines available” because it’s the only one available!
I had the BB disconnecting when the phone rang, long before going on the new equipment.
They have exchanged the network equipment on “multiple occasions”, even though I told them not to bother because I knew it would make no difference.
The facts are:
NO WORK has been done on my D-side (apart from the connections directly outside my property)
Many people that have had the same fault have told me it turned out to be the D-side
I was told by a BT Openreach engineer that they would not do any work on my D-side because part of it was aluminium. But this now turns out not to be true, so I have no idea why they will not do any work on my D-side.
At the cab, the broadband is the correct speed and works fine.
My caller display, often doesn't work. I think this is the same line fault that causes this.
A leakage to earth was detected on my line, but was never fixed.
My phone often rings 2 or 3 times, when I finish a call. I think this is the same line fault that causes this.
When the BB speed goes up, the router records a huge amount of errors.
A few years ago my BB failed altogether, it turned out to be the connection outside my property. The connection was green and in bad condition. There are loads more of these connections between my house and the cab, they will be just as old or older.
A BT engineers test equipment detected a change in resistance somewhere on my D-side, I haven’t heard if that was ever looked into.
Every piece of evidence points at a bad connection on my D-side, so you can see why I will not rest until I know that all the connections have been replaced. BT wholesales answer of “that there is nothing wrong with your line” just isn’t good enough because the fault still exists.
