Why does my printer say off line?

I hae a photosmart Premium C309A
It worked fine for a few weeks then IT STOPPED PRINTING OR SCANNING.
I have tried many times and I can't get it to print or fax.
I think it is HORRIBLE of HP not to have a functional phone assist since this is OBVIOUSLY
a recurrent problem since so many people are reporting the SAME problem.
So do I really have to uninstall, etc every time I move my lap top?
wtf?
I HATE HP.
I tried to use the disc print option and the soft ware is REALLY BAD. Like TERRIBLE. you have NO CONTROL over
the imagery except to drag in something already formatted, but then you have the SIZE problem. 
I am a professional video maker and was excited about this machine. But I ended up having to buy an Epson to do the
discs as their software for designing the discs is completely superior.
WHAT IS REALLY UPSETTING IS THAT YOU HAVE NO PHONE CONTACT THAT WORKS. I SAT THROUGH TWO HALF HOUR PHONETREES AND GOT CUT OFF BOTH TIMES.
I WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER BUT ANOTHER HP PRODUCT.
THIS SUCKS.

    The "Used Supply in Use" means that the printer believes the toner cartridges installed in the printer have been previously used in another printer.
    Have you recently changed the toner cartridge on this printer? Are you having issues printing?

    Pretty sure its to make sure you don't get good use out of your cartridges... basically this company trying to get 10 cents a print out of you
    After 1100 prints, regardless of how much ink used, if you take it out (the genuine 85a) at this point and put it back in, say after a jam or you want to shake it, it tells you have a used cartridge, i have tested continually using this, and got 500 more prints, with an annoying nag that you cant stop from every page printed. you have to take it out because this printer is notorious for a section ink don't get too, even though there probably is over 50% of ink left in it.. you take it out and shake it and can print, hundreds and hundreds of more pages... but after the 1100 point mark, since the printer tracks statistics it goes into this "used mode" so averages of prints won't go up... im pretty sure its devious code... but what do i know.. i just wont be getting new HP printers.. they claim it can cause damage.... the heads are on the toner cartridge... if its damaged the cartridge is replaced and thats that... so their warnigs are smoke and mirrors..

    gedwardc, what is the size that you are trying to scan? Is it a legal document or a normal letter sized document? Has it worked before, and this is a recent developement?
    I want you to do hard reset in the meantime, so unplug the machine from both the back of the unit and the wall outlet for thirty second, and then plug it back in.

  • How do I get to print when my printer says "off line" ?

    My HP Deskjet D4360 is plugged in and has 2 bars of colored ink and 1 bar of black ink showing on the printer; yet when I first turn on the printer, the golden ink drop flashes for 2-3 times and disappears. Does this mean that I still have to replace the ink cartridges now even though it shows bars of ink. When I go into the "help" area it said that ink levels are not available. Presently it isn't printing but haven't had a problem prior to this. Thanks.

    Have you tried a "DFU" mode restore as new, without restoring from a backup?
    If my question leaves you lost let me know and I will explain but essentially it returns your phone to it's "Out of the box condition".
    This method has worked for me an many others albeit not everyone.

    That's something you really should take up with the technical support resources of the manufacturer of the printer. There's no way anyone here could guess without details, and it's definitely not an iPad issue.

    The printer is th HP  Photosmart D110 series.i was concerned i would have trouble with the wireless part of it.
    The man at office depot said i could work it as a regular printer if i couldnt figure out wireless. Well, it didnt come with the cable to hook it from printer to laptop.rrrr

    So how is the printer set up?  Is it wireless or USB?  If USB you will need a cable, purchased seperately.  It is a standard A/B USB cable widely available inexpensively.  (The $1 cables form the dollar store work fine....
