Why does my r200 print pics dark in InDesign CS2?

I'm having problems printing pictures from Indesign Cs2 from my G4 powerbook (10.4.11) to an Epson R200.  The images are way too dark.  The original photos come from an old Nikon 3 megapixel point & shoot camera.  I don't know much about settings such as sRGB, or even the difference between RGB vs CYMK, but I'm pretty sure it's probably one of these printer profiles or color profiles that's causing the problem.  What should settings be?
By the way, the exact same images print fine to an Epson c60 and an HP Officejet j5750; it's just the r200 that is giving me issues.  Are there any suggestions (aside from tossing the r200 in the trash)?

  • Why does my screen come up dark when I press the camera icon?

Why does my screen come up dark when I press the Camera icon?  I can neither take pictures nor look at the photos I have saved.

Doulbe tab the home key to see the task bar.  Touch and hold any of those icons until they jiggle, then delete them by touching the minus sign.   Then reboot the pad by holding the sleep and home buttons until the apple logo appears.  Ignore the red slider.
You either have another app open that is using the camera, or you just have too much stuff in memory.  The reset process should clear it up.

reboot the router (and the printer).
If still happening, check your router settings.  Is it set so that the lease on the printer IP expires?
The pad has to see the printer as active, and on the same wifi network as the pad.
You might also want to see if there is a firmware update for the printer available.

  • Why does my Epson printer hang while I have mail open?

Today I was printing big prints (13x19") and twice it hung up with the iMac refusing to recognize any input I had (magic mouse or magic trackpad) to try and unfreeze the iMac.  I noticed that the only difference in what I had printed before was that I had Mail open and running.  I had to resort to shutting down the iMac (forced quit by holding the power button for multiple seconds) and restarting to resume iMac operation.  Of course that ruined to sheets of expensive 13x19" glossy photo paper.  Later on I closed Mail and opened iPhoto (alone) and it printed fine.  (1) Why does it do this? and (2) Is there any other way I can interrupt the iMac (rather than forcing it to shut off) so that it will recognize the mouse or trackpad?
    Thanks,
    Tom

I think its a WiFi problem. I have the same intermittent disconnect problem and report with the router channel conflict detected. I found this article helpful. http://www.computerworld.com/article/2476307/mac-os-x/os-x-mavericks--using-appl e-s-hidden-wi-fi-diagnostics-tool.html
I have been able to temporarily fix it by reinstalling the Wi-Fi connection from the setup menu on my printer, (Epson WF 7510). But it sometimes disconnects after I shut it down and turn back on later. I haven't come up with a permanent solution that I know will work, but this article shows how do do wireless diagnostics. I've just started to try to figure it out. It is currently working so the diagnostic tool says everything is okay. The next time I'm unable to print I will run the diagnostics again and hopefully it will come up with a fix. The article suggests changing the channel of your router. I don't feel confident enough to know that I would make the right choice for a different channel. However if I keep running the diagnostic over time I might be able to figure it out.

  • CS3 printing too dark - works in CS2

    Hi,
I've just upgraded to CS3 and everything seems to work EXCEPT printing. The pictures print but are much much too dark compared to CS2. The CS2 photoshop prints are what I see on the monitor and has worked for a couple of years.
I've tried to make all the CS3 settings the same as CS2 but I must be missing something.
I've set the print setup to:
"Let Printer determine Colors" and "relative colormetric" so that the printer applies the ICC profiles, not Photoshop.
I make sure the printer driver dialog is set to "ICC" and "relative colormetric".
I've set the "color settings" under edit to be the same as my CS2 settings.
In everything I'm using the same color spaces in CS3 that I use in CS2.
    So, what have I forgotten?
    Thanks

    > about feeding the Epson grayscale.
    Yes.
The ABW driver wants to be fed gamma 2.2-encoded image data.
This is why my standard recommendation for printing to the ABW driver __ONLY__ is to use:
Color Handling = Photoshop Manages Colors
    Printer Profile = Adobe RGB
    Rendering Intent = Relative Colorimetric
    Black Point Compensation = Enabled
Why does this work? Because no matter what your image working space is (e.g., sRGB, Adobe RGB, ProPhoto RGB, Apple RGB, ColorMatch RGB, etc.), doing this will cause your image data to be encoded in gamma 2.2 before the data gets passed off to the driver. (Adobe RGB has a gamma encoding of 2.2.)
The same workflow will work in Lightroom, too. You just need to check the "Display Profiles" checkbox in Lightroom to access Adobe RGB when selecting a printer profile.
If you are in grayscale mode instead of RGB mode, choose "Gray Gamma 2.2" instead of "Adobe RGB" for the printer profile.
However, the catch is that -- as noted in this thread -- there is currently a glitch, which we (Adobe + Apple + Epson) are investigating. One of the symptoms of that glitch is that the above suggested workflow does not work on Leopard.

  • Why does Frame 10 print 3 copies of the same chapter when I print a book to pdf?

I am printing a multi-chapter book. The table of contents generates perfectly but when I go to print the pdf of the book, Frame prints 3 duplicate copies of each chapter and TOC. Why is it doing this and how can I turn off this 'feature'? It is a pain to have to keep deleting the chapters from the pdf in Acrobat.
    Thanks

    > Maybe you have the print dialog set to print 3 copies.
And that could have been set in the application printer dialogs, or in the operating system printer setup/preferences (or both, but then you'd get 9).
It can also be set locally on some printers, but I suspect that's not what's happening here.
Is everything in the book tripled-printed, or just some?
    Is it printed cover-toc-body 3 times, or cover-cover-cover, tocx3, bodyx3?
Are other PDFs printing correctly to the same printer (using the same driver)?

  • Why does iMovie has clumping in dark areas in events and after export

I coverted some Sony .mts files to .mov's via Wondershare. The .mov previews looked perfect in playback with QuickTime player, so I imported them into events. My importing 'events' preferences are 'original size'.
I didn't see the choppiness in my darks until after I completed the project! I did not finalize the project yet, just exported to Vimeo and facebook.
It shows up pretty well at about 1:20 min
    https://vimeo.com/55162309
Is there a way to fix this? What did I do wrong?
    Thanks!

What you're noticing is called COMPRESSION ARTEFACTS
(I downloaded your original file from vimeo, if this is ok for you)
instead of detail, tiny leaves etc, we see 'posterized' areas, square 'blocks'.
there are diff. methods happening while compression: reducing detail, reducing colors, condensing 'similiar' content to one solid block etc.
    What you did wrong?
    a) the recording situation was perfect - nothing wrong here, except …
    b) was the cam set to maximum quality?
    c) manual converting? why that? the intended way is going straight from SDcard into iMovie.
    d) conversion anyhow? mts is a wrapper, inside is h264. no conversion needed, just a re-packing into mov.
    e) does Wondershare etc convert into ... what? My assumption is h264 in a mov. converting h264 into h264 is a lossy process.
    f) … with what settings? (double click such a mov, cmd-i - what is said about bit-rate ? my assumption, some silly low one. in effect: the compression artefacts, which ARE in the original recording (not visible on playback) get MULTIPLIED ... and, on low bit-rate, downgrading the quality.......
    g) seems like, you choosed good export settings from within iMovie (720p with 9mbps)
    h) Vimeo converts finally again .... (lossy process again)
    summarize:
    • set your camera to max quality/bit-rate
    • avoid Wondershare (and any other converter) by using iMovie as intended
    • if manual conversion is needed, only straight from h264.mts to AppleIntermediate (or proRes, if avail)

  • Why does iPhoto convert my pics to low res?

I use an elderly MacBook (November 2007 model) with the edition of iPhoto that came with the computer. When I take photos with my digital camera and import them into iPhoto for editing, it always lowers the resolution. My original files are 300 dpi when I view them in Preview, and when I save the changes in iPhoto and export them as JPGs, even at maximum quality, the JPG files are always at 72 dpi.
Since my editors require hi-res, cropped photos, this is getting incredibly frustrating! Is there a way to make iPhoto stop doing this? Or do I just need a new computer

iPhoto doesn't change the images. The dpi means nothing at all unless you're printing. Maximum quality in the export settings refer to jpeg compression and have nothing to so with dpi.
Long Answer: Dpi means nothing in the digital world of your computer. There are no "inches" to have "dots per..." Size is measured in pixels. That's the same on your camera. It doesn't take 10 x 8 or 6 x 4 shots. It takes shots measured in megapixels. For instance 4,000 x 3,000 is a 12 megapixel camera.
Using that example, that shot from that camera has 12 million pixels. So that's how many "Dots" there are. To decide the ratio of dots per inch, you now need to decide the "inches" part. And that's printing. Print at 10 x 8 and the dpi will be 4,000/10 or about 400 dpi. At 6 x 4 then it's 4,000/6 or 660 dpi. Work the other way: Print at 300 dpi and the resulting image will be about 13 inches on the longer side.
So, your photo as a fixed number of pixels. Changing the dimensions of the print will vary the dpi, changing the dpi will vary the dimensions of the print.

  • Why does a CMYK printer have RGB ink tanks

We are having trouble printing nice tomatoe red and bright blue colors using the SG1 paper profile on our 9500MII printer.
Over the years we have noticed that the RGB ink tanks last forever, we buy the ink sets and eventually end up selling the RGB ink tanks on e-bay.We print mostly photos and occasionally web pages

    Hi PGordini,
The red and green inks are enhancement inks only used slightly to make the reds and greens in colors more vibrant.  Since they are only used as enhancements, they are not used nearly as much as the other cyan, magenta and yellow colors.  So we might be able to help figure out what's happening with your colors, please answer the following:
    1.  What is the source of the original image?  Is the image from a digital camera, scanner photo, web page, or other source?  What is the file size of the image?
    2.  Will the image print correctly on plain paper?  I understand the picture will not look as good on plain paper, but what I am looking to determine here is if the same color issues apepar.
    3.  What program was used to print the image?
    4.  Are you able to print the following sample image correctly?
    http://consumer.usa.canon.com/app/images/d_camera/s70_sample2.jpg
    6.  Does the Nozzle Check print correctly?  Follow these steps to print a Nozzle Check from the printer:
         a.  Make sure the printer is powered on and paper is loaded into the sheet feeder.
         b.  Press and hold the RESUME button on the top of the printer until the POWER light flashes twice.

  • Why does black/white print with magenta hue?

When I print black/white greyscale in Adobe Reader or Acrobat, some documents print with ghost text that appears in a light magenta.  This ghost text is staggered to the bottom right of the black text.
I'm printing from Mac OS X 10.8.4, Adobe Reader 11.0.03 using an HP LaserJet 1525nw.
The left side of the image is a screen capture from the PDF and printed.  The right side printed directly from the PDF.
    Any ideas why this happens?

Sorry - I was able to find out how to do color calibrate.  It is supposed to print a page but never did.  I tried it twice.  Not sure if it actually did anything.  But results are the same with printing.
The printer is very low on the three color cartridges, which I don't use.  It is at normal capacity on black.  Even though I'm selecting to print only black/white in Reader, could the low status on the color cartridges be causes this pink hue?
I did try a pure PDF document (one that isn't a scanned print page).  It printed without issue.  As I mentioned above, there is something about a scanned in printed page, which causes this pink hue issue.

  • Why do my photos print so dark on my 7510

My first 6 or so photos printed beautifully, but now they are much darker than the originals. I can't find anything in the printer's settings to brighten them. Anyone know how to fix ?

I had that same problem and I think I found 2 solutions. I think the second solution is a better option.
    First Solution:
I found that if I wanted to adjust the brightness of the photo, I put my photos onto a camera memory card and slide it into the SD drive (front left bottom corner) of the printer.
Then click on photos --> view print --> memory card --> select the photo you want to print --> edit --> adjust brightness
You can also find the instructions to the darkness at this link
    http://www.hp.com/united-states/consumer/digital_photography/edit_restore_photos/tips/adjust_brightn...
However, the photo that came out was better but the color was faded. The second solution should fix this problem.
    Second Solution
At the edit photo menu (same place as where you want to adjust brightness of the photo), I turned the automatic retouching off and did not change the brightness.
The photo that came out pretty good.
I hope this helps! I am going to try to look for a program/software that can adjust the brightness and automatic retouching options through the computer.
This is how my photos look.
Top photo: auto touch up was off
    Bottom photo: Brightness increased

  • Why does song list print over itself on CD cover?

When I try to print a CD cover for a CD purchased from itunes, the song list gets printed over itself e.g. 10 song titles printed on top of each other.  Why?  How can I cure this. (It didn't happen with itunes previous format)

Yes its possible it happens when there is a Duplicate Field on top of itself. I helped someone last year that had several fields that were duplicated.
    Open Acrobat.
    Go to tools menu
    Choose Forms.
    Click on Edit.
Click the field(s) that appear to have duplicated text.
If your keyboard has arrow keys click on the field then use arrow key to move to left, right, up, or down. If field shows underneath is not moved, delete the field selected.
    Repeat as needed.

  • Why does Apple support print those "Hello" booklets that came with my new iMac in super small fonts?

Yesterday I purchased the latest available 27inch iMac from my local Apple only dealer.     ( It sure beats my very first Mac which was an LC520. )
The included in the box printed quick start guide named "Hello" was printed using a font size very close to zero.
Who are these people at Apple support that can read such small fonts with using 20X powered magnifying lenses
    Are they somewhat...
What a waste of mony Apple!

I think it's a point worth making.  It is virtually unreadable.
On reflection, I'm wondering if there is an obligation in some countries to provide such information with a device.   This could be Apple's way of complying while spending the absolute minimum.
