Why does my Vault "disconnect?"

I have repeatedly created vaults on an external 800 Firewire drive only to have them completely disappear after the PowerBook G4 goes to sleep. Not just "disconnected" where I can update the path, but completely gone, unable to be found on the volume where they were created, either by browsing or a Spotlight search. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thankfully I do several nightly backups, on the same 800 Firewire desktop drive and a network drive, via SuperDuper, so I am relatively safe. But why is Aperture losing the vaults I create? I should mention that, in order to save disk space on my PowerBook G4, I use a WiebeTech portable drive for the main Aperture library, which is daisy-chained to the main desktop 800 Firewire backup drive where I am trying to maintain a vault. Any thoughts would be appreciated. As it stands now, the vault function is completely worthless to me. Thank you.

Just gave up!

  • Why does my phone disconnect after 4 hours of call time

why does my phone disconnect after 4 hours of call time? Is there anyway I can change this?

You mean that you're on a single call for 4 hours continously, and then it disconnects?
If so, contact your wireless carrier.  That's a cellular connection issue.

  • Why does my router disconnect every time I sleep the computer? Why did this only start to happen recently?

Why does my router disconnect every time I sleep the computer? Why did this only start to happen recently?

Actually it does with Ethernet too: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2412?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
What happens when the Mac goes to sleep (not just into idle mode or display sleep)?
    On all Macs:
The microprocessor goes into a low-power mode
Video output is turned off, and a connected display may turn off or enter its own idle state
Apple-supplied hard disks spin down; third-party hard disks may spin down
    On portable Macs:
The Ethernet port turns off, if applicable (see note below)
    Expansion card slots turn off
The built-in modem, if present, turns off (see note below)
An AirPort card, if present, turns off (see note below)
The USB ports only responds to the power key on an external keyboard (see below)
The optical media drive, if present, spins down
Audio input and output turns off
Keyboard illumination, if a feature of your portable computer, turns off
But see the note about selecting, "Wake For Network Access" in Energy Saver preferences.
Note: Portable computers have no network connectivity when in sleep mode, but can wake if the Energy Saver option "Wake for network access" is enabled. If you wish to use file sharing or don't want to interrupt your Internet connection, you should not manually put the computer to sleep, and you should drag the "Computer sleep" slider to Never.

  • Why does my iMac disconnect from the wifi when it goes to sleep?

Everytime my iMac (Early 2008) running mountain lion goes to sleep it disconnects from the wifi (I only have wifi available) I then get a 'the browser does not support the :File extension)
    I'm stuck please help....

    Hi Matt,
This has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.

  • Why does wireless mouse disconnect on every restart?

My wireless mouse has started to disconnect, never to be found again, on every restart after 10.6.1. Only after several attempts and restarts does it connect again.
I was wondering if anyone knew a fix for this.

Try setting the wireless to manual and fixed channels.. the auto channel swapping does cause issues.. I would also give different names to 2.4ghz and 5ghz so you know clearly which wireless you are connected to.
But sometimes they do just go bad.. power supply is not robust. They do become unreliable.

  • Why does my computer disconnect from Wi-fi every time it goes to sleep?

I'm currently on OS 10.8 but this problem started happening a while after I started using the new OS.  It actually started when I moved into a new house.  Every time my computer goes to sleep it disconnects from the wifi singnal and so everytime I come back onto the computer I have to choose which wifi network I want to use.  I've tried using different routers and now actually use a new Airport Express but the problem persists.
I think I had this problem many years ago and an apple employee just clicked some network setting and it never happened again when I brought the Mini back home.  Does anyone have any ideas about this?
I did a quick discussion search and couldn't find this, apologies if it's already been covered.  Thank you in advance!

Words cannot describe how angry this problem makes me. How can world's largest tech company not been able to fix their biggest bug for this many months now?!?!
All these forums are overflowing with the same **** problem: WIFI DOESN'T CONNECT AFTER COMING BACK FROM SLEEP ON MAVERICKS.
How many thousands of people have to post the same godddamn problem for how long?
And no, disconnecting Bluetooth doesn't help (even if it did, its not an acceptable solution). I took my MacBook Air to Apple store twice already and they cannot help either.
aaaAAAAaAaaAAaaarrrrghhh, I'm going to go insane from this problem.
I miss Steve.. he wouldn't let something like this go on for this long. Can a half a trillion dollar company pay attention to its own support forums or at least google "wifi-not-connecting-after-sleep-mavericks" and realize what incompetent company you have become?!

  • Why does my ipod disconnect me from the internet at a certain time every night?

Every night at 9 pm my Ipod disconnects me from every app that requires internet. It says I am still connected to the internet but I still can't access my apps. I'm not sure what time it reconnects me in the morning. My Ipod had not been doing this until I got the latest update. I'm not sure if there is anything I can do to change this but if there is I would like to. I have gone through my Ipod and there are no restrictions set that I have noticed.

Maybe your Internet Service Provider shuts down some server at 9pm every day.

  • HELP!  Why does my printer disconnect when router unplugged?

I have a Canon MP480 that connects to my wireless router in my house. Unfortunatley, my Canon MP 480 disconnects from the network anytime my router is unplugged. Any ideas?

It would be helpful if you could tell us if your printer is connected to the airport unit via wifi or USB. Also, which airport unit are you using and what firmware is installed. You can see the firmware version using the airport utility (in your utilities folder in Mac OS X).

  • Why does checking voicemail disconnect my bluetooth?

When I check my voicemail it disconnects my bluetooth and I have to manually reconnect it in order to hear my messagesthrough my bluetooth headset. Is there a fix fr this?

Well there is a fix. At least with my Jawbone, if I want to check vmail. There is a small icon that appears in the upper right corner of the vmail screen. I believe it says "sources", click it and select something other then your iPhone.

  • Why does Safari constantly disconnecting me from logged in sites?

I'll have Safari open. I'll log into Yahoo, YouTube, Facebook, etc. and every now and again Safari has this moment where it's not reloading the page quickly. It'll behave like it's freezing up. Then the tabs I have opened with "Logged In" sites will refresh with the "Log In" page open again. I have to log in again. This happens if I walk away for awhile or if I'm busy working on the computer at the time. While using Safari or not actively using it. It's annoying to have to keep logging in. Especially if I have multiple sites that require logging in. What's Safari doing? Is this just another annoying glich in yet another software program?

Many sites have an automatic logout after a certain amount of time. Ask the sites in question if that is the case for them. If you clear your web browser's cookies, many sites keep login information in a cookie so that can also cause you to be asked for your credentials again.
    Regards.

  • Why does my WIFI disconnect when I plug in my cinema display (retina)?

When I connect my Cinema Display to a DVI to Thunderbolt adapter and then the adapter to my Retina Mac Book Pro the WIFI disconnects. What is going on here? It was working just fine a day ago.
    Lil' help?

    Hi wreckdiver05,
It is normal for your Mac to close its network connections when it is put to sleep (for example, closing the display on a portable Mac). If you are having issues with it not automatically rejoining your network when it wakes, you may find the following articles helpful:
