Why does my window update history list 11 updates install status as PENDING?

HISTORY: I recently (June 10, 2014) up
graded the operating system (OS) on this computer from Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit to Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. After the new OS was installed on this computer, the next step required that I run Windows Update. More than 150 updates were downloaded.
Most of the updates were installed successfully, however, a few failed to install. The "Failed" updates were later downloaded and installed successfully. There were eleven (11) updates that were label as  "Pending", and was not effected
by the running of Windows Update a second or third time. The Status of the "Pending" updates is still "Pending". My question is: "How do I get these Pending updates install successfully? The Importance ratings of the 11 Pending Updates
is seven (7) "Recommended" and four (4) "Important". The error code that appears when I click the details button is 80242014.   The Pending Updates are listed below.

Hi,
This issue can be caused by security application block or corrupted system files.
Please first run System restore to get your computer back to the point before Windows updates. Then follow these steps to check the issue.
1. Reset Windows Update components with "MS Fixit 50202"
How do I reset Windows Update components?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058
2. Disable any security application protection installed on your computer;
3. Check for updates (so the uninstalled updates will be re-presented to you)
4. Install those updates that were Pending again (note, the Pending status will remain in the history, but since you have just uninstalled them, you can now install them again)
5. Restart the computer to check the results.
If the issue still persists, please post back the %windir%\windowsupdate.log
here for our research.

  • Why does the iPod duplicate songs when updating my playlists?

Why does the iPod duplicate songs when updating my playlists? Also, you cannot use the "show duplicate songs" feature on the iPod - I suppose that is because it is not supposed to duplicate songs on the iPod. But, if that is the case - why does it do it?

Try resetting your iPod, press and hold the power and the home buttons together approximately 15 seconds until the Apple logo appears. If that does not work try going into Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. If that does not work try connecting to you iTunes library via the cable and un-sync the library from your iPod then sync the library.  For the next 2 options backup your iPod first, then do a Restore iPod from backup, if that doesn't work... As a last resort Restore your iPod as New. I too had the red circle and square after updating to 7.0.4 the last resort fixed mine, others have reported doing all the above, all have had reports of fixing the problem and not fixing it. Give it a try, hopefully one of these works, Good luck.

  • Why does the iTunes 10.4.1 update take me to Apple's download webpage instead of the usual Safari/Quicktime dialog box?

Why does the iTunes 10.4.1 update take me to to Apple's download webpage (to download a full version of iTunes) instead of the usual Safari/Quicktime pop-up/dialog box where I usually perform the updates?

iTunes 10.4 and Safari 5.1 contain more than 'just' the OSX Lion-release but stability and security improvements as well.
For example, here is http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1070 what the Safari 5.1 contains.
In here http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/ I can't find an "end-date" for the download of the Lion installer.
Nonetheless, personaly I would download the Lion installer and then copy it (from your Apllications folder) to a secure place (backup harddisk, external hardisk etc.).
When your IT gives it a go you can then use te Lion installer from inside the Applications folder, but I would also say to make a bootable clone of your current OSX Snow Leopard before starting the Lion installation.

  • Why does iphoto 11 tell me to update library every time i open it?

why does iphoto 11 tell me to update library every time i open it?
    iPhoto '11 OSX 10.8.5
I open iphoto and I get the message
"the Photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto"
I click upgrade and after a few seconds the photos show fine, the application works correctly.
then I quit the app. and reopen and i get the same message and the same results.
this was happening before I did a complete erase of the Macbook Pro and install of Mt Lion
    upgraded from lion.
only thing thats the same is the computer and the library I restored.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    Additional:
Please do not make the subject header of your post so long in future...
There is a bug in the forum software that often prevents posts to threads that have abnormally long subjects....
Keep them short and to the point and then put the full question in the body of the post..
In your case, the bug has not struck so far but it can at any time so please be aware of this issue...

  • Why does facebook say adobe flash is not installed

why does facebook say adobe flash is not installed when it is - windows 7 IE11????

Unless you're on a company computer and locked down to prevent using anythng else, I'd recommend you drop Microsoft's pathetic excuse for a browser and download Firefox.
Then install the Flash Player Plug-in (For other browsers), and free yourself from the chains of the guys in Redmond, WA who can only seem to get things right 50% of the time.

  • Why does my iPad 2 not list software updates in the settings?

My iPad 2 does not give an option for software updates in the general settings.

Because it's running an iOS version prior to 5.0. The next update needs to be installed from iTunes on a computer, and if possible, the one the device normally syncs with.

  • Why does Acrobat Pro 11.0.7 updates repeatedly fail to install?

Why am I suddenly getting the error every time autoupdate runs? This just started. I tried uninstalling as directed. When I try to download my previously purchased COMPLETE application, nothing happens. Downloading from the Adobe site gives me an application that Adobe wants me to spend $14 on EVERY month. I've already paid for this application once - I'll be damned if I will pay again. I run Mavericks 10.9.5. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have a solution?

Try http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (or MAC). With XI, you just go ahead and install the latest. It indicates the update applies to any previous updates. For previous versions of Acrobat. most of the updates had to be installed in order. When you do the installation, be sure to be logged in as the administrator (as when you installed the original XI) and have anti-virus disabled.

  • Why does my iphone4 flickers after recent update

Why does my iphone 4 screen now flicker after the recent update, Typically its now 14months old and not in warrenty!!!

    danielfromhull,
I hate using the steps from the users manual, but have you tried the hard reset and reset all on your phone?  There are 2 pages of such posts re flickering, and the user manual method appears to fix nothing.
I see some blame placed on recent updates, which is very possible.  Second most likely candidate is hardware itself.
Given there is no quick fix, nor real fix, start with the user manual effort first.  Failing that keep checking here from time to time.

  • Why does it take so long to update appleTV?

I made the u fortunate mistake of clicking on update AppleTV now and here I am two hours after the update started and it is still not done. On top I am only now getting close to the end of step one? Should Apple not provide an estimate of the time it will require to update so that I could have done this at night...rather than sit here and wait till the dammed software is updated? It spoiled my entire evening! Why does the update of Apple TV take so long????? Luckily my AppleTV is hardwired to my computer, imagine if this was not so....

You just happened to run into an bug produced by your Apple TV and your Internet connection. Even though they don't want you to switch off they device disconnect your Apple TV from your power chord. When it restarts you can use your Apple TV like before. Often a day later the updates is done in less than 10 minutes. I happened to run into this problem a few times since I have my Apple TV 3

  • Why does my Mac have so many updates?

My Mac constantly needs updating. It reminds me like everyday that it needs an update and then I'll update it and then a few days later it needs another update! This is really frustrating because my internet is too slow to update it all the time. Why does it do this?

If the update hasn't been applied, it will probably remind you until it's been applied. It will probably remind you at least as often as it is set to. You can use the Software Update system preference to turn off automatic updating.
Why would the system nag you often about an update? Because updates contain bug fixes, and it's good to have the latest fixes. On top of that, software updates contain security fixes, and Apple is very interested in making sure all users have the latest patches for any security holes that have been discovered since the last update. Because as you know, malware and security problems can cause you major problems if they are not blocked by the system. And as far as Apple is concerned they do not want any security problems to end up in the news if thousands of users were to be affected. So they issue fixes as soon as they can.

  • When I have installed updates in the past, I have always lost my bookmarks. Why does this happen? I want to install the new update but I am afraid of losing my bookmarks again. What can I do about this?

When I have installed updates for Firefox in the past, I have always lost my bookmarks. Why does this happen and is there a way to avoid it? I want to install the new update for Firefox but I am afraid of losing my bookmarks again. What can I do about this?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Do not worry. Hold Sleep (the button you have at the top of the phone) and Home buttons at the same time until your phone restarts, and then try installing the iOS update again.
