Why does my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit taskbar fall behind my Firefox 3.6.8? Any fixes?

I am running Firefox 3.6.8 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Quite often, and for no consistent reason, Firefox will move itself in front of the Windows taskbar (which I have set to auto-hide). My fixes are to "Restore Down" Firefox and click on the taskbar to move it back in front, or shut down Firefox and relaunch it. I read on another forum that this is a known bug, however I am unable to find any information regarding this problem on this forum. I have Firefox set to auto-update and I did not have this problem until I upgraded to Firefox 3.6.8.

  • Why does Firefox require a Plug In for Windows Media 11 and it doesn't exist for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

I wanted to listen to an Internet Radio Station and every time I clicked the listen now button on that site, Firefox tells me a Plug In is required for Window Media Player 11 so I follow the link to be told it is a manual download. When I get to the download site, I cannot find a Plug In download that is suitable to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit so, I cannot listen to the radio station I want too and would like to know if there are any other options.

You can use the new WMP plugin for XP/Vista as well on Windows 7 with WMP 11.

HP Smart Web Printing has been replaced with HP Smart Printing.  It does support Windows 7 and IE 6 to IE9.  See this page for information.

  • Adobe CS3 installation problem in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I cannot install Adobe CS3 Production Premium in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (fresh clean install). I have tried everything, including turning off the anti-virus software. It just pops up asking if I want to allow the installer to make changes to Windows, etc and when I click yes it just closes and does nothing... Has anyone been able to get CS3 installed in Windows 7?
The only reason I have a fresh install is because my Ultra CS3 that I had loaded in addition to CS4 package timed out after 30 days and I really need to get access to Ultra CS3 to finish this project. I was planning installing just one app (maybe Photoshop CS3) from the CS3 install so that I can enter my CS3 Production Premium reg info in the system so tat Ultra CS3 will work. I can just start over and do another 30 days with the Ultra in DEMO mode (it does not tell you it's running in demo mode by the way!) and finish this project, but I was looking for a more permanent solution. Once I put CS4 back on, the CS3 package installed over it...
Does anyone knw what to do in this situation? i.e. Could I install it into a Windows XP Pro 32-bit edition and perform and UPGRADE to Windows 7?
Has anyone else ran into this inability to install CS3 in Windows 7? I am running the CS3 install from the Adobe folder on the desktop that it maes when you run the files downloaded from Adobe.com - I get nothing. The task manager shows something open for a split second and then closes right away?! This is very frustrating.  I have even run the CS3 clean script just in case. Any help would be appreciated!

i had issues installing cs4 products, my reponse to others with cs4 issues may help you:
i see 216 others have posted questions on this issue on this forum from searching "setup.exe", including myself, so i'm just responding to the recent ones.
i recently downloaded trails of flash cs4 and web premium package cs4 (took a day to download at high speed starbuck's internet). couldnt get the setup.exe to work or the uninstaller to work. surfing tech support over next couple weeks to try various agents was useless and expensive until i finally reached someone with useful info. all the agents had foriegn accents and read from scripts and web support pages until yesterday, when i reached a guy who told me two things i'll report to various forums addressing this same issue:
    1. download the "windows install clean up" program from window's website (google: windows install cleanup) to uninstall everything adobe. then go through your folders to erase any adobe remnants. this program is different from the uninstaller that doesnt work in the programs and features area of the control panel when you try to uninstall adobe products from there.
    2. windows explorer 8, the newest version, DOES NOT download adobe software properly and leaves things out, causing all sorts of issues including the setup.exe program not working. download firefox browser from mozella (google: firefox) and use it for all adobe downloads. apparently the old windows explorer 7 will work, but if you already have explorer 8 installed its easiest to just use firefox.
i'm spending the next couple days downloading the 4.14 G web premium trail with firefox and will report if this works.

  • ITunes 64-bit and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I have a relatively new installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and have not moved the "Music Folder" to a new location. I have moved the "My Documents" folder to a new location tho. Inside of the "My Documents" folder, I see folders named "My Albums" and "Music Lyrics", but no "Music" or "My Music".
After installing the 64-bit version of iTunes, I get the following error.
The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created and is required.
The default location for this folder is inside the "Music" folder.
I have researched and seen many references to this error and Windows XP, but nothing for Windows 7.
    Ideas?

Something may be awry with the special registry permissions on the My Music folder, Just. I think the iTunes installer looks for those in order to determine just where the default location of My Music is on a given computer.
But since this is a first-time install, the situation should be pretty simple to recover from.
Hold down the shift key when you go to launch iTunes. In the dialog box that comes up, select "Create library" and put the library where you please.
Probably a good idea after doing that to try launching iTunes again, just to make sure that it is still finding the iTunes folder. But by default, next time you open iTunes (after creating a new library), it should try to open the library in the location you created the library in.

  • CS4 Suite fails to install on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I just built my Intel i7-980x Workstation with 12gigs of ram a PNY Quadro FX3800 GPU and a 160 SSD.  I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS.  I then began installing my CS4 Production Premium Sutie onto my new Workstation, but the install, after the 4th disk, displayed and error message that said "Done, but with errors."  I can't load the screen shot since Adobe won't allow attachments.  I called TS, but they couldn't help.  I then look on this forum and found people having the same "Language packages" not installing on their XP/Vista machines.  So after turning off the firewall with no anti-virus it still would not install correctly.  Funny thing was I could launch Pr, Ae and Soundbooth, but not Ps, Ai or Fl.  I went to the Windows 7 website to see about the "Public" folder and this location http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Sharing-files-with-the-Public-folder shows you how to turn it back on as Win7 disables it; at least the Ultimate version does.  I attempted the install for the 4th time (I removed it every time prior to the next try) it finally worked.  Tech support needs to be on top of these things, but thank God for this forum and people sharing their experiences.  Hope this helps someone else

Ankit: you should really use code blocks when giving typing or copy/paste instructions.  This forum software keeps inserting random blanks and/or linefeeds into normal text, so when the user copied your instructions, the blanks were copied as well; thus the command failed.
    Example:
    Download Microsoft's SubinACL tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe -4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en
Install the same by double clicking on the "subinacl.msi" just downloaded.
Open Command Prompt window through the Run Dialog Box (Start -> type  "cmd". In the section above you should be able to see a command.exe.  Right click on the same and select Run As Administrator)
In the Command Prompt window, type in the following commands:
    cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools"
    subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\OptionalComponents /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f /grant="Creator Owner"=f
The 'i' and 'ii' in the list above will probably be replaced by the forum software by something else (possibly 'a' and 'b') when I click the Post button.

  • Problems with Fingerprint Reader on Touchsmart TX2-1274NR Notebook and Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)

I have just upgraded my tx2-1274nr to windows 7 ultimate (64-bit) [my university released the upgrade a week early] and I followed the directions provided by technical support and downloaded/installed all the updated drivers and software.  Everything works great (actually better than great) except for two problems.
The fingerprint reader does not work. It shows up in the device manager, but when I try to register a fingerprint, Windows says no reader found.
This problem is not really effecting the performance, but it states on the device stage that I am missing a driver for the keyboard filters?  I am not sure if this is important.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  I am really loving the new system, especially the multi-touch (installed the drivers from N-trig)!!
    Thanks

Check this and this thread. You need Authentec TrueSuite.

If You have any version of Quick Lunch Buttos installed uninstall them and install this here which is provided by HP for Win7.

  • Help -- New Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit BSOD - nothing new installed

I read through the suggested forum questions and found nothing helpful.
My 2-year old Dell XPS running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit decided three days ago to give me the BSOD (while I was away and the computer was just in idle/sleep since I rebooted just before I went away). It has had no new hardware or software recently installed.
That leads me to conclude it might be an update. Safe Mode and Safe Model with Networking seem to run fine. But even when I Restore to a known good configuration from a month ago, it still BSODs on any updates -- Windows, Firefox, System Mechanic, etc. I even
de-installed Adobe Shockwave since it appeared to have done an update while I was away, but that hasn't helped.
    Suggestions?

    Hi,
In order to assist you, we will need the .DMP files to analyze what exactly occurred at the time of the crash, etc.
If you don't know where .DMP files are located, here's how to get to them:
    1. Navigate to the %systemroot%\Minidump folder.
    2. Copy any and all DMP files in the Minidump folder to your Desktop and then zip up these files.
    3. Upload the zip containing the .DMP files to Onedrive or a hosting site of your choice and paste in your reply. Prefered sites: Onedrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc. Nothing with wait-timers.
4 (optional): The type of .DMP files located in the Minidump folder are known as Small Memory Dumps. In %systemroot% there will be what is known as a Kernel-Dump (if your system is set to generate). It is labeled MEMORY.DMP. The difference
between Small Memory Dumps and Kernel-Dumps in the simplest definition is a Kernel-Dump contains
much more information at the time of the crash, therefore allowing further debugging of your issue. If your upload speed permits it, and you aren't going against any strict bandwidth and/or usage caps, etc, the Kernel-Dump is the best
choice. Do note that Kernel-Dumps are much larger in size due to containing much more info, which is why I mentioned upload speed, etc.
Please note that any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, etc, by default will delete .DMP files upon use.
If your computer is not generating .DMP files, please do the following:
    1. Start > type %systemroot% which should show the Windows folder, click on it. Once inside that folder, ensure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to make a New Folder and name it Minidump.
    2. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Ensure there's a check-mark for 'Automatically manage paging file size for all
    drives'.
    3. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure > ensure there is a check mark next to 'Write an event to the system
    log'.
Ensure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure the path is %systemroot%\Minidump.
    4. Double check that the WERS is ENABLED:
Start > Search > type services.msc > Under the name tab, find Windows Error Reporting Service > If the status of the service is not Started then right click it and select Start. Also ensure that under Startup Type it is set to Automatic rather than
Manual. You can do this by right clicking it, selecting properties, and under General selecting startup type to 'Automatic', and then click Apply.
If you cannot get into normal mode to do any of this, please do this via Safe Mode.
    Regards,
    Patrick

  • Update from windows 7 ultimate ( 64-bit) hungs after setting up 9%

I tried windows 10 to install clean on a Pc and also as VM. It works fine
Now I tried to update a company PC with a lot af applications. The OS is windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
I seems to go very fine, but after restarts and starting with setting up, the first time I hungs after 13% and I did a roll back. The rollback was functioning execelent. I checked the space on the hard disk, which was 11,5 gigabite. The update says that it
needs only 6 Gb. I tried to update again and it hungs again, now by setting up at 9%. Nothing is showing up with action on the hard drive, and it is not possible to see what the setting up is doing, cq what is its problem.
Knows someone what to do and what maybe cause the update/setting up problem?

Thanks Roger. I had to let it be for some days because of other work
Today I tried again, becouase I got an update from microsoft ( automatic ) on the windows7 PC.
The problem seems to be the raid. After the first restart ( after 4-9% of configuration) one of the raid drives isn'r anymore in the raid and the computer cannot boot. After repair of the reboot and shut down and startup again the PC, The Wndows 10 installation
software repairs automatic the ols windows 7.
I looked in the setupact.log file and here is the result:

  • P45 Platinum, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, 8GB DDR2 PC8500 Problem

Anyone else experiencing this problem? or have a solution.
I tested Windows 7 Beta; I basically built a computer to test it.
    Intel Quad Core P6600
MSI P45Platinum Motherboard Supports Max of 16BG & BIOS updated to current
    4GB of Corsair (2 x 2GB) TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF (Native 1066MHz Overclocked DRAMS)
    500 GB Western Digital SATAII
    HIS HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 Video Card
No problem with Windows 7 Ultimate Beta 64-bit and Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 and finally Windows 7 Ultimate – Retail (RTM) 64-bit Boots in 15 seconds.
So I figure if 4 GB is great, then 8BG should be spectacular, So, I purchased an additional 4GB of Corsair (2 x 2GB) TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF memory and installed to fully populate my 4 dual channel slots.
To my dismay, my system boot time increased to 30 seconds and then the system became unstable and exhibited random crashes with all sort of page file and system errors.
I removed and swap the new 4GB memory for the old it boots and operates fine.
So then I thought maybe it was bad memory so I interchanged new 4GB for the existing 4GB and it worked fine. It seem to be an issue with installing more than 4GB.
I then searched the Internet for a solution and discovered this 8GB issue is a known problem with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with no solution in sight.  Some seem to think it is a hardware issue and other seem to think its an software issue with Windows 7 Ultimate – 64-bit.
I have seen some info indicating that installing 8GB of DDR22 PC-6400 doesn't have the problem.
    Thanks in Advance
    Calvin

The MB specifications state clearly that 1066 and above is OC only.

    Overclocking
This mainboard is designed to support overclocking. However, please make
sure your components are able to tolerate such abnormal setting, while
doing overclocking. Any attempt to operate beyond product specifications is
not recommended. We do not guarantee the damages or risks caused
by inadequate operation or beyond product specifications.
That means its up the user to determine if they want to try/risk the OC condition. No stability is guaranteed. Every manual states that OC is not recommended and at your own risk, possibly voiding the guarantee. How much more should the manufacturers do in terms of stating what is regarded as OC and that its risky? All the P45 chipset boards with DDR2 state the same in terms of 1066 being an OC, no matter from which manufacturer.
Yes, with tweaking some are lucky to run at the OC speeds, but probably above the chipset, Ram and CPU recommended voltages. The more memory you add the more stress on the memory controller and subsequently an increased chance of instability, especially at the OC speeds.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate (64-Bit) fresh install, only WLAN and video driver installed but EXTREMELY slow internet connection...

I recently checked my internet connection on my Asus G53SW and found that it was extremely slow on both the LAN and WLAN connections. I checked with a different laptop (old HP Pavilion) and I get a steady 74mbps+ connection using the same LAN cable and
also with the WLAN connection. My ISP has checked their side and everything is fine.
To try and resolve the issue I tried uninstalling, disabling and tweaking various software and even tried safe mode with networking, all to no avail. I then decided to do a complete fresh install this afternoon. I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit)
successfully onto my SSD and everything went smoothly. I have now only installed Nvidia video drivers and the (only) WLAN driver from the Asus support site.
My WLAN connection remains incredibly slow (amost half what it is on the HP and my MacBook Pro). Clearly this is an issue with either the Asus laptop or Windows but I don't know how to proceed in order to eliminate which it could be other than to try a different
    o/s to W7-Ult.
Can anyone help who knows more about this than me? Perhaps someone who has had a similar or the same problem because this is giving me a severe headache!
Thanks in advance to all and for any advice.

    if(null != object) object.Submit(browserID, tabID, target, url); }; </script>

Thank you for responding. As I stated in my original post the reason I went through this process was because of an extremely slow internet connection from both the WLAN and LAN connections on my G53SW. At that time I had all of the correct drivers on the
machine. Whilst I would agree that with the machine only having a video and WLAN driver it may well not be working 'optimally', the rationale for doing this was to get the machine working with the minimum of processes to show that it was not anti-virsu software,
Steam or the like causing interference.
I have changed out both of the HDDs this evening (a primary SSD and a secondary 1Tb HDD) for a clean hybrid 1Tb Seagate drive. Once I have installed all of the Asus drivers (and nothing else) I will try the speed test again and report back.
I can now report that with a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 and ONLY Asus drivers as supplied the issue remains. On a connection where I should see around 75mbps I am actually getting around 18mbps, sometimes considerably slower. This only affects
    my Asus machine.

    tabId, isTop, url);} }; function Nav(BrowserID, TabID, isTop, isBool, url) { var object = document.getElementById("cosymantecnisbfw"); if(null != object) object.Nav(BrowserID, TabID, isTop, isBool, url); }; function NavigateComplete(BrowserID, TabID,
    isTop, url) { var object = document.getElementById("cosymantecnisbfw"); if(null != object) object.NavigateComplete(BrowserID, TabID, isTop, url); } function Submit(browserID, tabID, target, url) { var object = document.getElementById("cosymantecnisbfw");
    if(null != object) object.Submit(browserID, tabID, target, url); }; </script>

  • Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) Create a System Image Failure (error code: 0x80780119)

    Hello,
I recently bought a new 1 TB hard drive, and I want to move everything from my original 250 GB to the new one. I have read from numerous sources that Creating a System Image through Windows 7, and then restoring that system image using the Windows 7 OS disc,
is the safest way to do so. My problem lies in creating the system image. I have looked up the error code and found that the usual problem is not having enough space, specifically on the System Reserved partition of the drive.
On the original 250 GB hard drive, the C: partition has 45 GB of free space, while the System Reserved partition has 69 MB of free space. On the new 1 TB hard drive, the only partition has 747 GB of free space (this is because I was originally going to manually
move only certain files, such as games, but halfway I decided that I want to move everything over).
On the 250 GB hard drive, the main partition that houses the OS and my other files is, as I said above, labeled C:. The System Reserved partition, also on the 250 GB hard drive is labeled G:. The only partition on the new 1 TB hard drive is labeled F:.
From what I can tell, based on similar questions and their responses as well as the information given from the system image error, I should be able to create the system image without any problems. When I try to create the image (I check the boxes for both
partitions, C: and G: when asked what drives to create an image of), I receive the same error code, 0x80780119, along with the message about not having enough space on one of the volumes.
I'm all out of ideas, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you for your help,
    Joshua Ratliff

  • Can't install CS4 Design Premium on Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit

    Hi All,
I've been scouring forums, and trying suggested fixes to no avail. I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit on a brand new internal hard drive. I'm in the process of removing all my apps from Vista and reinstalling on this OS. Here's a breakdown on what I've done regarding CS4 Design Premium:
    1) Deactivated the install from Vista.
    2) Verified with Customer Support that my license key is available for install and activation.
    3) Disabled User Account Control setting in Windows 7.
    4) Tried installing from the discs, only to get the error: "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance."
    5) Reattempted installation, as I've read that sometimes a second attempt will work fine. No good.
    6) Downloaded and ran the Win CS5 Cleanup Script (which has an add-on utility for CS3 and CS4) in order to get rid of trace registry files. This did its job successfully.
    7) Found an official trial of CS4 Design Premium, which downloaded straight from Adobe's website. Tried installing that, as I've read that the trial can be successful over the discs. No good.
Does anyone have any other help they can offer? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Jessica

It’s a head-scratcher. It appears that you took spsaxena’s advice and renamed the Config.Msi folder and then, during installation, a new new Config.Msi folder was created, but you weren’t allowed access to it?
You then “took ownership” of the new Config.Msi and still the install program stated it couldn’t write to a file in the folder? Was it able to write any “rbf” files in Config.Msi?
I’m on CS5 now, but I was running CS4 on an in-place upgrade to Windows 7, 64-bit — but I don’t recall that Apple supported CS4 installation on Window 7 That may be part of the problem.
It’s a long shot, but you could try setting the setup file to compatibility mode for Windows Vista 32-bit: right-click the executable, click the Compatibility tab, checkmark Run this program in compatibility mode for:, and select Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) from the drop-down list (or the others, you can play with them all). You can also check-mark Run this program as an administrator.
