Why does ntsc QT file in ntsc QT sequence need to be rendered?

I have a feature in 5 reels. All reels have been converted from PAL to NTSC via Atlantis and imported into FCP. I'm on deadline to deliver a print and thought that since all clips in the timeline are NTSC and the Sequence is NTSC it should not need to be rendered. Unfortunately, they do need rendering and I don't think I will make it. Why is it asking to render? Can someone please help? Here are the settings and info below. Thanks in advance for any help.
Each reel is now an ntsc QT clip.

did you change the settings in the: Sequence>Settings menu or in the: Final Cut Pro Menu?
If in the Final Cut Pro menu it will take effect the next time you create a sequence and will not change the current settings.

Why doesn't flash player stay installed and why does the saved file disappear. I have downloaded and installed flash player several times on my Win7 Vaio laptop. I have uninstalled and deleted all versions. I am the administrator and I have also turned off my Security Software, but the same thing keeps happening over and over. The Java Script is enabled and I have tried both downloading via IE and firefox. It is rediculous that it keeps disappearing and I keep getting messages that the newest version is needed. I am downloading directly from adobe and they say it is the latest. Getting very frustrated. They ask if we have any problems when we go to the finish line, but there is no place for comments. I guess they don't really care if it works or not.

So is it actually installed, or is it not? If not, download and run the offline installers:

It was just a hunch that MircoNetFrame was causing the problem. I disabled it as you suggested, and I still have the problem.
I just changed under Tools>Options> General - had checked "ask me every time" under downloads, so instead of asking me, FF saved the download to I know not where. It no longer saves it to the desktop, leaving a duplicate in "my documents".
In windows, I have found unless one knows the entire name of the document, one can never find anything. It isn't listed under recent ''''''__. I can't recall the nomenclature, but the
capability is ridiculous. So, I don't know where that file I just downloaded is!
I downloaded a PDF file, but this happens with all DL's. It was so easy to have them all stacked in one place and I could recall
what I had and when I downloaded it easily.
Do you have any other suggestions other that going back to the old version of FF, which I would rather not do?

If your iPhone is shutting down unexpectedly, I recommend going through these troubleshooting steps:

Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:

Why does the book file bloat?

Every time I refresh (reimport) the EDD to the files of a book, the book file gets larger and larger indefinitely (which never happens to the individual fm-files).
Okey, I can resave as mif and then resave the mif back as a .book file to get rid of that junk, but why? It's pretty annoying. Why does it bloat? What's the purpose of bloating it rather than just replacing the old structure definitions? This has been so for all versions of FM I know of.

Why does AddWatermark make file so big?

I have created a 600 x 253 72 dpi gif file. It is only 36kb in size. When I take a 7 page 220kb PDF file and do a cfpdf action="addwatermark" to the file, it grows from 220kb to a whopping 1.3 MB!
Strangely enough, if I open the same file in Adobe Acrobat Professional and manually add the exact same gif file as a watermark to the exact same PDF file, the result file actually got SMALLER!?!?!

I tried: content.setPageEvent( eventHandlerProxy ); like in the Footer example, but that errored out. I understand what is SUPPOSED to happen here, but I am not getting the syntax. At this point, I need to apply the eventHandler to the content. But what everything I have tried has errored out.
One thing that I have learned is that syntax is EVERYTHING with script (that's why I love ColdFusion so much, it's much more foregiving for us non-purebread programmers.
so once I hvae initiate the beginText, what is the syntax for applying the eventHandler to content?

Why does searching by file name ignore files that are there?

This is NOT a question about Spotlight. I'm using the old-fashioned command-F method of searching, and I'm searching for terms within a file name, i.e "Name Contains _". When I type in the name of a known file and search for it, it doesn't show up. These are not particularly long or unusual file names. This is a disaster, to say the least.
Why is this happening and how do I fix it? Is something corrupt? (My computer is quite new, though I have put lots of files on it from my old computer.) I've checked permissions and run disk utility on my hard disk and they're all fine. What gives?

As a brody said that is still using Spotlight.
There can be 2 reasons for this 1) Spotlight does not
search in some system folders, 2) Spotlight is not
indexing.
EasyFind is my recommendation, works well and is free
and is spotlight independent.
You can get Spotlight to re-index by opening up the
preferences pane, click on Privacy, add the hard
drive you want to re-index to Privacy. Then remove
it and close preferences, Spotlight will immediately
start indexing the hard drive again.

OS 10.5 - Why does 'Copy' overwrite files on my External HD? Please read...

*Please read this before answering...*
So here is the issue.
When I copy a folder(s) to my external HD, instead of adding the new files to the existing folder(s), it overwrites them. Let me give an example (below):
Lets say I have a folder on my Laptop (Intel MackBook 2.2) named "Bob", and it contains a file named "test_1.txt. Then I have a folder on the external HD also named "Bob", with files "test_2.txt" and "test_3.txt". If I copy the folder from the laptop to the external HD, test_2 and test_3 are gone, and only test_1 is there...
I am new to Mac (very new), but on a Windows (any version) based machine, lets say I have the same setup, and do the same copy. In that case, the folder "Bob" is of course on the external HD, but I then have test_1, test_2, and test_3 in the folder.
It's like in a Windows environment, it merges those folders, so the files in the folder on the external HD stay put, and it adds the new ones from the laptop to the folder. In a Mac environment, it seems as though it deletes the folder on the external HD, then copies the one from the laptop.
Now here is the problem, and why I am so worried about this...
I have a folder called "Pics" on the laptop and the external HD. As I pull pics from my camera, download them, etc, they go into the many folders under the main pics folder on the laptop. I then copy it to the external HD later. In Windows, I am essentially just adding these pics to all the already full folders under pics on the external HD. I don't keep them all on the laptop because there are to many, so they just update when I do this, and there are that many more in the folders on the ex HD. If I do this same process in the Mac OS, it will delete all the folders on my ex HD, then replace them w/ these. I, in-turn, will loose many gb's of pics that weren't on the laptop. I do the same w/ a software folder, documents, and a few others.
There are too many for me to just add them folder by folder, so I really need a way to make this act like it does on a Windows comp.
I have asked a bunch of my Mac friends, and they have no idea, so any help is much, MUCH appreciated!

You can set the preference to only add new files, and never delete anything. It WILL over-write a specific file with a newer version (and that means FILE, not folder), but even that can be changed by doing an "Archive"--you check the box to "Archive when replacing existing files" and you can even tell it how many duplicates to keep, and whether to purge dupes after a certain amount of time. It is a very flexible program.
I basically use it to keep my backup drive in sync with my startup drive, but without deleting anything from the backup. Ever. Thus my Pictures folder has many sub-folders, and they have sub-folders too, with things getting added to them. Chronosync adds the new files to the sub-folders, adds new folders to the basic Pictures folder, and if I toss some things from the startup drive, they remain on the backup drive.
Thus, if the startup drive has /Pictures/Summer08/file2 file4 file5, and the backup drive has /Pictures/Summer08/file1 file2 file3, after I sync it will still have files 1-3, plus files 4 and 5. If I had updated file2 on the startup drive, the updated version will over-write the original on the backup drive, unless I used the Archive option.

Why does iTunes rename files that are imported automatically although I set it not to?

I am facing the following issue:
I set up an old MacBook as a HomeServer. Now I would like to use it as a media server as well using iTunes.
My problem now is, that everytime I put some music files in the folder which automatically adds them to iTunes they are moved to the Music folder and are renamed although I deactivated this option in iTunes.
I arranged myself with the fact that the music is moved but the renaming is frustrating since I would like to use a sync tool to manage my music.
Does anyone have an idea how I could solve this?

I can tell you exactly why I don't want iTunes to manage my music completely.
I have all my music/fotos stored on a SD card so I have access to it anywhere I need it. I have a sync tool backing up my files to a NAS at my house.
My first intend was to access the music stored on my NAS but then I would have to manage iTunes twice (on my MacBook for traveling and on my HomeServer).
So I was looking for a comfortable way to have iTunes running on my HomeServer with a folder where I can put my new music. OK now you could say "why not just copy your new stuff there and let it do its job?". I want to have it automated or at least semi automated.
I store everything on my SD card and when I'm at home I want 2 sync jobs running. One to back up all of it and the other one to check which files are new and then put them into the folder which automatically adds them to itunes.
I could still live with iTunes managing everything the way it does but then I need to know how I can find out what is new in my music library on my SD card without manually checking it or creating duplicates in iTunes.
Wow... that was more text then I intended to write... whoops... hope I will be able to find a solution somehow.

Why does importing a file crash Adobe?

Quite often i find that when i am importing a file into Adobe it will crash the program, resulting in loss of work. Occasionally it will back up my work but 8 out of 10 times it won't!
Does anyone know why this is happening?

What type of files are you attempting to convert. Remember, you are using pre-release software. Please let us know the details of your system. If you can, post an eamil address or an FTP site so someone on the forum might be able to take a look at your files. Currently I am converting many file types without issue.

Why does mac duplicate files automatically

Okay thanks a lot. That makes sense. I guess I never realized with Windows because the files weren't explicitly located anywhere to be accessed.
This is because I am using an email client instead of in browser mail, yes? Does this mean that these temporary files could be accessed in offline mode?

If it wouldn't be too much trouble though, could you go through the general folder organization differences between windows and Mac? It seems Mac gives you less direct control preferring to simplify the management system's access, but in turn making the actual location and folder hierarchy of files a mess.

Why does the "Open File" window crash when I try clicking it?
