Why does object selection open the layer?

i have searched the help file to no avail. if i don't select-and-hold and move an object immediately i have to wait a second or two or the layer containing this object will open up and the frame appears around the object (indicating the layer is open like a folder?)
Have i accidently toggled something that is causing this behavior?

It's called "Isolation Mode". You can read about it in Help. It allows you to work in a group without affecting the rest of the illustration. It is especially useful for editing symbols.

Why Can't I open the layer panel?

I installed the new trial version of PSE11 and for some reason the layer panel does not show up automatically and when I try to open it under the windows menu the layers part is greyed out. The entire layers dropdown menu is also entirely grey. Please help!

You need to be in Expert mode. Just click the expert button at the top of the window, and you'll not only be able to use the menu command, but will have a dedicated layers panel button at the bottom right of the main PSE window.

Why does Firefox not open the link in an email message?

Since upgrading to 3.6.10 (at least I think since then) Firefox no longer opens the urls in email messages when I click on them. Firefox becomes active, but then nothing happens. How can I rectify this? I use mail.app, on Mac OS 10.6.5.

Ok, well I found it quickly without really finding the source of the problem. I created my account here in order to post this problem, and when I received the account confirmation email to activate my account, clicking the hotlink opened a browser window WITHOUT the address! So I restarted firefox and lo and behold, I could confirm my account via the hotlink and dvd@ccess now works, even in the dvd studio pro simulator. Why this bug appeared remains to be answered. Thanks and good luck.

Try some basic steps if you have issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Why does firefox not open the address in the browser window via dvd@ccess?

I am building a dvd with dvd studio 4 latest version on a brand new MB Pro / Snow Leapard. dvd@ccess is enabled in dvd studio pro 4 as well as on my computer. The function opens a browser window, but firefox does NOT automatically type in the required address. Therefore the browser does not look it up. This is not likely related to dvd studio pro, since dvd@ccess links to mailto: with no problem, and entourage correctly opens a new mail with the proper address. Please help. Why does my selection on the touch screen jump around?

Throughout the day my phone starts selecting the wrong item on my iphone; if I select contacts it brings up something else like email, if I select back it tries to delete, try to scroll up or down and it jumps around. I've restored my phone twice, restarted, updated it, made sure it's fully charged, and while there are times it works fine, it inevitably goes back to this problem. Sometimes if I lay it flat or turn it to landscape it will work ok, but more often than not, it doesn't.
I'm past my warranty and want to find a fix without buying a new phone. I need help!!!!

Sync everything to the computer.
Restore as new. Test.
If problem persists, call Apple and arrange a repair. I doubt if you'll need to. It is most likely a software issue and the restore should fix it. If it does turn out to be hardware, an out of warranty repair would be $199. Not cheap, but cheaper than buying a new phone before being elligible to upgrade.

Why does my iPad open the app store whenever an add comes up when I'm on the internet?

When I'm on my iPad and on the internet whenever a game app add comes up on the side it forcibly takes me to the app store to download the app without me even touching it. I have tried different browsers and they all do it.

That's because the ad contains JavaScript which activates a URL. That URL causes the App Store to open.
Avoid those sites which cause this. Complain to their webmasters.
Using "Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies and Data" may help.

Why does .send action open the target asp?

Hmm,...
I believe this is causing the problem. When this function is
called, it should send variables to asp and open a new swf. But
instead it opens asp page in a new window and the loaded swf
doesn't receive the data. Any ideas?

Go step by step and test.
Reset Safari.
Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Click "Reset".
Delete Cookies
Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:
Click “Remove All Website Data”.
Empty Caches
Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
Turn off Extensions if any, and launch Safari.
Safari > Preferences > Extensions

why does illustartor CC open then crashes and i get a message saying windows does not know what the problem is. everytime i open it, Now i know it works on my computer becuase i've used illustartor plenty of times on my current desktop but ever since today its been acting wierd and work so i've unistalling and reinstalling but still nothing works then i tried installing on another hardrive still did not work and i cleaned out my registryies, optimized my disk, and cleaned temp files tooo so i just do not know what went wrong and i really need help i have class assignments that i have to get done in illustartor so if anyone can help me and let me know what the problem is and what i have to do i would really apreciate it.

- Do you see an AICC splash screen? If yes then could you please let us know where exactly it crashes i.e. while loading which plugin or font?
- Do you have any 3rd party plugins installed? Can you please remove those (do take a backup of them) and see if AI launches fine? This way you would be able to find the plugin creating the problem.
- Did you install any OS or Ai update after which it started showing the problem?
- Please check if you have all the Verdana family fonts installed.
Let me know if any of these work.

Why does Acrobat 11 open cached or "ghost" versions of my PDFs?

Here's my work flow...
Save a PDF from an Illustrator doc/open PDF in Acrobat to sanitize/email PDF
-get revision request-
Revise same Illustrator file/save as a PDF/open PDF in Acrobat and it views as the original PDF!
When I "quick look" on the desktop the PDF displays the revised comp. So my question is why does Acrobat 11 keep the cached image of the PDFs and how can I prevent this? Quitting Acrobat will fix the issue once so if I go to revise the same file for a 3rd, 4th time it'll show the cached version every time.

If you choose 'Preserve Illustrator editing' when exporting from AI, it actually embeds the entire AI file inside the PDF as a hidden attachment. Opening the PDF in Illustrator it will ignore the 'real' PDF content and open the AI object instead, so you never see the changes from Acrobat.
