Why does photoshop 13 freeze when working in Editor
Two months ago I had difficulty starting Editor when working in PE 12 and after lengthy chat lines with adobe support I was advised that PE12 was corrupt and I should update to Photoshop Elements 13. I reinstalled windows 7 and then Photoshop 13 and this worked fine until recently. Now when working in Editor after editing photos for an hour or so Editor freezes. It seems to be after I have printed off photos. The only was to close Editor is to go into the Task Manager. Anyone else had similar problems?
Brian, another way of looking at this is: how many devices do you have connected to the USB port (the same one)? I've found through using external storage devices that one port can handle two devices. I had four going at once one time, but the same thing happened, only two would evenually connect.
There's a limit to connections per USB port, I'm just trying to see if you have too many connectins on one port. If so, obviously, if you have other USB ports available, plug the nano into it's own port and see if that "cures" the missing nano.

WHY DOES PHOTOSHOP KEEP FREEZING?
i have photoshop cs5.1 and everytime i try to close a project it freezes and i have to force quit. i have a 2010 macpro, but most importantly when i open a new project it doesnt allow me to type anything, i hit the text tool and a small dot comes on the screen and i cant write anything, help me please. oh and why does it keep saying rendering type everytime i hit a button in the tool side?
Have you tried resetting preferences?
Have you tried disabling all third party plugins?
Can you use Sampler or the Activity Monitor to get sample of what Photoshop is doing when it appears frozen?
(my guess is that you have a corrupt font, and it's hitting a bug in the OS font engine, which causes other problems) -
I have problems updating my softwarebecause my computer freezes when it restarts to install. I have enough disk space and I checked for disk repairs and everthing is ok. Still can't update and not my cumputer is taking longer to turn on. There is an earth blinking then i get the apple logo blinking before it turns on and this takes close to 5 minutes.
When you say, "disk repairs" are you referiring to permissions or verifying the disk because clearly there's a problem.
Boot from your install disc, run Disk Utilty to "verify" and if necessary repair the startup disk. (Not Verify Disk Permissions).

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Why does my computer freeze when it is trying to update the software?
My computer is currently Mac OS X 10.5.4 and it is trying to update to 10.5.8 but every time i try to update it just freeze when it shuts down to restart and install.
How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
When you have problems updating software, that's a good time to check the startup disk. Launch Disk Utility /Applications/Utiliites

Why does my Mac freeze when I open trial version of Photoshop?
Just installed trial version of Photoshop CC. Photoshop opens but then freezes at Adobe Reader's "Welcome" screen. I tried turning off Norton Virus and firewall software, but that doesn't help.

Why does my Firefox freeze when I open my news feed on Facebook?
For a few days now, everytime I go to my news feed on Facebook, Firefox freezes and I have to force it to stop. This means everytime I click on the Facebook logo or go to www.facebook.com.
I have already reinitialised Firefox, but that doesn't help the problem.
Why is this happening?Ok... I found a temporarily fix... go to facebook.com, then click the (X) button in the bar to make the page stop loading. it should only be half loaded... if firefox locks up, you waited too long. Click on your name in the corner. Then when that loads, click home, next to your name!!!!! There is your news feed! Hope this works... It worked for me. Enjoy!!!

Why does my Macbook freeze when I try to transfer my Powerbook files

I have been having trouble with my PB and could not retrieve any of my files... the bash shell appeared. I thought my files were gone forever.
I was able to find my HD through utility disk, great!
The problem is that I am trying to retrieve my files with a MB, but it freezes everytime I tried to move the files from PB. The spinning rainbow wheel appears?!!!
Utility Migration doesn't work either...it doesn't see my PB HD. Is the problem that the system run under two different X programs? Jaguar, Tiger?
Should I put in the utility disk in my PB ??
I can't think of any other problem.
Help please : ) My my senior thesis depends on it.

Mac OS X (10.3)I have the same issue. When I click on the button search image (of the web page I want to add a picture on) nothing happens. If I try to change web page or website, the picture window appears but is frozen and I cant select any pictures or even cancel the request. I then need to force quitting Safari because of it.

Why does Photoshop Elements close when I try to get into Organizer?
I have no problem getting into my Photoshop Elements 8, have no problems going into Editing and editing photos, but when I try to get into the Organizer, Photoshop Elements closes, totally. This has happened in the past when I've been either working in Organizer or Editing, closed Photoshop, and then opened it shortly thereafter. However, if I closed it and waited several minutes, I'd have no problem getting into Organizer. Not this time. Was in it earlier today, couldn't get into Organizer when I tried later, waited a long time several times, with no luck.
One correction: If I open Elements and try to get into Organizer, Elements closes totally. If I'm in Edit and click on Organizer, nothing happens. I'm still in Edit, but can't get into Organizer from there.Suggest that you reset preferences. Sometimes this will correct strange behavior.
Exit PSE.
Open PSE just to the Welcome Screen and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Mac: Cmd + Opt + Shift) and keep pressing.
Click on "Edit" from the Welcome Screen but keep pressing the keyboard keys - don't let up.
You will get a little dialog box asking if you want to delete the settings file. Click "Yes." You can let go of the keyboard keys now.
This will rebuild the file for you and often solves the issue. -

A bit of an explanation so you may understand why I asked for this information. When people have strange things happening to their system, it is often very difficult to give the information required for others to help them. They often do not even know all the intricacies of their own system in detail, they may have corrupted their system in the past with some software they have installed and forgotten about it, they may have a myriad of things in their system that they are not even aware of.
Instead of asking a huge amount of questions and prolonging the thread, there are some basic tools, that can give answers very quickly.
If you go to Start and type in DXDIAG.exe, then choose Run 64-bit Dxdiag and then Save all information, you generate a pretty complete diagnostics file of your system in .TXT format, which can be very helpful in finding problems, like outdated drivers, remnants of older drivers no longer used, codec corruption, and a whole bunch of other useful information to help troubleshooting.
Next go to the site Piriform Speccy and download and install Speccy wherever you want to. After installation, run the program. You will see a screen that shows the summary of your system. Now from the top menu select 'File' and 'Save as XML'. Select a file location and a file name that is both easy to find and easy to remember. That information is a complete overview of your system, plus all number of details about the components. It saves you from figuring out all the details of your system and gives us a good chance to look at possible causes of your problem.
Next, install Sysinternals Suite and run Process Explorer. This will show all the processes running in the background and can help pinpoint unnecessary memory hogs or CPU stealing processes. It shows how well a system is tuned and can be very informative to help solve strange problems.
The first two files need to be made available on a website for viewing by others, the results from step 3 can be attached as a screenshot. If people follow these steps, identifying the cause of a strange problem is a lot easier.
You don't need to do that anymore, but I figured I owed you an explanation about what I asked and why. -
Why does my keboard freeze when I plug in my ipod shuffle?
Hi for some reason my ipod shuffle which has worked really well up to now (and still works) freezes up my keyboard as soon as I put it in the usb. I have tried all variations of usbs all work fine except with the combination of ipod shuffle and keyboard - a mystery. Have checked the shuffle with other apple computers and it is fine. Also keyboard works great when ipod shuffle removed can anyone help?
Brian, another way of looking at this is: how many devices do you have connected to the USB port (the same one)? I've found through using external storage devices that one port can handle two devices. I had four going at once one time, but the same thing happened, only two would evenually connect.
There's a limit to connections per USB port, I'm just trying to see if you have too many connectins on one port. If so, obviously, if you have other USB ports available, plug the nano into it's own port and see if that "cures" the missing nano.
