Why Does Premiere CS6 Render AVCHD?

CS6 Production Premium Suite
Win7x64
Canon XA10
I shoot a continuous one hour talk.
Using Windows Explorer, I copy the BDMV folder from the XA10 to my project folder.
Using the Media Browser, I import the clip (which consists of multiple MTS files).
On the imported clip, I use "New Sequence From Clip".
I do not edit the sequence.
I then "Render Entire Work Area".
The rendering takes awhile. Why?
I thought Premiere edits AVCHD as native so it should not have to render if no edits occur.
Thanks in advance.

  • Why Does Premiere CS6 Output 29.97fps when Encoding to 23.976 fps?

My project is XDCam EX, 23.976 fps. I exported to DVD MPEG and both VLC and Windows Explorer details report 29.97fps file format.
I downloaded the latest updates two days ago. Just wondering why the encoder refuses to leave 23.976fps footage and project alone and convert it to 29.97? Render settings are clearly 23.976fps. Bug?

i didn't read the forum i linked, so yes, i was wrong in the way adobe converts it to 29.97, pulldown vs added frame.  the output file will be reported as 29.97, but mediainfo can see the flags and reports it as 23.976 with 2:3 pulldown.  when i look at the .m2v file from premiere, frame by frame i can see the two interlaced frames from pulldown. so are those true interlaced frames or does the media player program generate those interlaced frames as a result of the flag telling it to?
Telecine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    Wiki:
Reverse telecine (a.k.a. inverse telecine (IVTC), reverse pulldown)
Some DVD players, line doublers, and personal video recorders are designed to detect and remove 2:3 pulldown from telecined video sources, thereby reconstructing the original 24 frame/s film frames. This technique is known as “reverse” or “inverse” telecine. Benefits of reverse telecine include high-quality non-interlaced display on compatible display devices and the elimination of redundant data for compression purposes.
my understanding is the interlaced frames are real. it is 29.97fps, with 2 of 5 as interlaced. the reverse pulldown reconstructs a single frame from the two interlaced, dropping the fps to the original 24p. is this not the case with adobe's pulldown?

  • Why does Premiere Pro CS5 eat up space on my C drive when it conforms video files?

Hey everyone. I have Premiere Pro CS5 with the latest update installed. I am running Windows 7 64-bit on a 120GB Corsair SSD drive. I have set my scratch disk video and audio previews to a different hard drive (F: drive). I have three questions:
    1. Why does Premiere eat up space on my C drive whenever it conforms the video files I import into my project?
    2. Where on my C drive can I find the folder that holds all these conformed video files that are taking up space on my C drive?
    3. How do I prevent Premiere from eating up space on my hard drive when it conforms the video files I import into my project? Is there some way to move whatever folder is eating up space on my hard drive when Premiere conforms the video files and tell Premiere to conform the video files on another hard disk so I don't lose precious space on my C drive?
Okay, that's four questions but, can some please help me on this? Thanks.
    Okay, that's five questions.

    hello,
i think you need to relocate you media  cache files to a separate drive other than your c: drive.
in the hardware forum, Harm has done a wonderful job at advising on HDD setup, i think it mentions relocation
of swap file, media cache, etc.  all which are defaulted to your c: in your user profile
after relocating to different physical drives (all without partitions) performance usually increases

hope this helps til someone else answers more
    good luck...

  • Why does InDesign CS6 forget my preferences when I re-start?

Why does InDesign CS6 forget my preferences when I re-start? Not every time, but often. It's very frustrating to have to re-enter all my prefs. Every once in a while I start up InDesign CS6 and the new document dialog shows page sizes in po (I always use inches) and the prefs all seem to revert to default.

Do you have a Windows PC and when shutting down, is Indesign still open? If so, this can result in a damaged preferences when still writing while Indesign is being terminated by the system.

  • Why Does Premiere Pro CS4 Import Only 10 Seconds Of Layered Photoshop CS4 .psd??

Why Does Premiere Pro CS4 Import Only 10 Seconds Of Layered Photoshop CS4 .psd??
I have a 24 second clip I layered in Ps and when I import the psd into Pr THE SEQUENCE IS ALWAYS ONLY 10 SECONDS!
How can I change this?  Why does this happen?  I really need to know as soon as possible.  I have a video project due this Wednesday (granted it's for an AV class where I'm just learning Pr.  But I can learn VERY FAST!)
    Thanks for your help.

Just in case I wasn't clear in my last line "just Click-drag on the Tail of your .PSD to set the desired Duration," once you have Imported your .PSD (as Footage), just drag it to the Timeline, Click-drag on the right-hand margin (the Tail) and stretch out its Duration, as is required.
Now, if you Imported as a Sequence, open that Sequence's Timeline, and do the same.
I normally will set my Edit>Preferences>Still Duration to about what I think will be applicable, do my Import, and then with the Info Panel handy, just alter the Duration to suit.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Why does illustrator cs6 crash or lock up?

why does illustrator cs6 crash or lock up when i try to save any file that has a placed image in it?

    Please follow these steps:
Open the “Task Manager” when the Adobe Illustrator CC crash window is displayed.
In the Task Manager window right-click on the name/string “Adobe Illustrator CC” and select the option “Create Dump File” in the context menu
It will display a dialog which says that it will create a file “Illustrato.dmp” in your “Temp” folder. Click on OK to create this. Wait for the action to get this completed.
Once the above file gets completed you can have this file by typing “%temp%” in your “Run” window (press “window button + r” on the keyboard). On clicking the enter key the TEMP folder can be opened.
Look there for the file name “Illustrator.dmp” and share it with us a dropbox link on [email protected]
Please also mention the thread link when sending the dropbox link.

  • Mac OSX Lion: Why does PS CS6 BETA stop responding after attempting to import pdf?

Mac OSX Lion: Why does PS CS6 BETA stop responding after attempting to import single pdf or multiple pdfs? frequently happens(2/3 times)

Can you provide any more information about the files that are causing the problems? Are these particularly large files? Many pages or images? Have you opened these files in Photoshop CS5, or other versions of Photoshop?
What do you see when you try to import these PDFs? Do you get the PDF Import dialog, allowing you to select pages or images from the PDF? Is so, is it hanging when you click OK or at another time?
Any more details about the problem or other info (as well as sample files) you can provide, the easier it will be for us to help identify the cause of your problems.

  • Why wont premiere CS6 export .mp4's?

why wont premiere CS6 export .mp4's?  Everytime i try to export h264 mp4's the final export is an unrecognizable .m4v file.
I read about this 'bug' in a thread started over 8 months ago,  and read that the 'work around' is to export with audio on. (my videos have no audio channels, so why would i want to save them and make them larger, by encoding them with audio?)
I am preparing to switch from Final Cut 7, to Premiere Pro, but i'm concerned to do so as this bug apparnetly was never fixed by adobe, almost a year later.  There seems to be no way to encode an .mp4 without audio using Premiere Pro CS6 or Media Encoder CS6.  Is there any kind of patch or another way to export .mp4's?
    thanks.

That is exactly my point!  Why should I have to export an audio channel and increase the file size to work around a known bug of the software...
We export about 100 videos a day and it will add up.  These are files that will be online, and size is an issue.
I'm just not sure that we'll want to invest in software with a known bug that hasn't been addressed after months.
I was hoping that maybe there was a patch or update that I haven't found yet.  Thanks all.

  • Why does the CS6 Master Collection Suite take up so much RAM on a computer??

so, if, i brought the CS6 Master Collection Suite i would need more RAM on my computer right?
because, my apple computer only has 4GB of memory and that program needs 4GB of RAM.
I would need to add more memory to my apple computer say upgrade it to maybe 8GB of RAM??
But, i don't understand why does that suite need so much memory or RAM on a computer??
could i just only download the programs i really need onto my apple laptop and maybe that
would free up some memory or RAM so that the program wouldn't  end up using all of the memory
on my computer could i just do that??
    Message was edited by: mzpretty3

Mzpretty3 you can find the system requirements for CS6 Master Collection at http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-system-requirements.html#CS6_Master_ Collection_system_requirements.  For Mac OS we recommend a minimum of 4 GB of RAM and if you are going to do heavy photo or video editing then you will want to have at least 8 GB of RAM available.
Please also be aware that the installation will require at least 15.5 GB of hard drive space.  This is separate from the amount of RAM which you have installed.

  • Why does Bridge CS6 require TMP to point to the C: drive?

After much hassle I got Photoshop to work but Bridge always fails with the message
"Failed to write to temporary folder (V:\tmp). Please change the
environmental variable TMP to an existed folder on the C: drive"
Ignoring the questionable grammer for the moment why does Bridge care where my
TMP directory is? CS5 doesn't care. None of the other programs installed on this
system care. Bridge is absolutely adamant, though. Give it temp space on C: it's
perfectly happy. Put it anywhere else and no way at all... Where was Adobe QA when
    this was tested??
    Tom

Their vision of releasing a high quality product was, shall we say, clouded.
Geek translation:  More and more companies figure they can release whatever they have on hand and fix it later via the software update process through "the cloud".
Thinking clouded by the promise of quick profits.

  • Why does premiere elements 8 change a 29.97 fps to a 25 when conforming?

I have a project setting of NTSC HDV 1440 x 1080 with a frame rate of 29.97.  when i import video, it conforms and indexes it and then suddenly the frame rate is no longer 29.97 but 25?  why does it do this?

Best continue this discussion in your other thread in which the matter was brought up
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1404750?tstart=0
In your original thread, please see my latest reply and some mini checks to detemine the cause of what you are describing for file frame rate being converted from 29.97 to 25 by project conforming.
    Thanks.
