Why does "problem loading page" appear when i try to run firefox? I can access the relevent page via internet explorer but firefox cannot connect to the web/

A few days ago Firefox stopped working when using shortcut or exe. file. The message http://en-gb.start3.mozilla.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official appears, although when i paste this address into internet explorer it works. What is preventing firefox from connecting?

Actually, dchristie, your solution didn't help at all. If I wanted to use IE, I wouldn't have installed Firefox. IE is a good browser, but doesn't have features Firefox has. Also, when Firefox crashes windows can kill it and you can restart it no problem. When IE crashes, since it is so tightly integrated into windows, windows itself becomes unstable and you have to reboot.

When I open FF, I get a popup msg telling me to update Internet Explorer and I cannot connect to Facebook or Yahool Help!

I rarely use Explorer, but I did update it using the Microsoft site. I assume this is a virus but scanning with anti-virus software has not solved the problem.

Why does a loading bar appear when i open pages? it does not go away and does not allow me to close the app while it is up.

when i open my pages app a loading bar appears and cannot be removed. i have waited two and a half hors for whatever it is to load and i finally just had to force the program to close through the activity monitor. But this problem persists... every time i open the app the loading bar haunts me. i can still edit the document but the loading bar is still "layered" in front of the open app. my final question is, how do i get rid of this loading bar and what is it for?

It sounds as though Pages is trying to resume editing a bad document, or a very large one. Quit Pages, Force Quit if necessary, and then start it up again while holding down the Shift key to prevent reopening formerly open documents.

Why does an error mesage appear when I try to download an app?

When I try to download apps an error message always appears telling me that I don't have write access to my iTunes media folder or a folder within it.
I do have read/write privileges to every folder ! Where do I go from here? Any suggestions?

Why does my Jar Launcher fail when I try to run a .jar file?

Whenever I try to run a .jar file since I updated to mavericks the Jar Launcher will start running java and then crash. I've reinstalled java and checked all my prefrences, but I can't figure out why this is happening.

I downloaded the latest Java from java.com (they have the latest version) and it worked for me

     Why does Safari go into limbo when I try to search for some things? I start to enter something in the search window. I get a drop down with suggestion I choose one and it pops up in my search window but just turns a color and does nothing!
    If I quit Safari and bring it back up, then enter the exact same line it's fine. This is just one of the many problems I've been
having with Safari since I installed Yosemite.
     Has anyone got any suggestions or is anyone having the same problem. Is there a way to maybe force my MacBook pro to reinstall Safari or possibly all of Yosemite. I seem to be having a lot of problems and judging by the responses I've received (That would be None) I must be the only one having any problem at all withYosemite. Not sure what to do.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Deleting the Preferences files seems to be missing from your list.
Quit AppleWorks,
In the Finder, go to:
username > Library > Preferences
In the Preferences folder:
Locate and Delete the File com.apple.appleworks.plist
Locate and Open the Folder AppleWorks
In the AppleWorks folder, delete the following files:
AppleWorks 6 Assistants Cache
AppleWorks 6 Preferences
AppleWorks 6 Translators Cache
Optional:
AppleWorks Button Bars
This file contains your Button Bar preferences. If you have made changes to the Button Bar, but hanve NO issues that can be traced to the Button Bar, it may be left in place.

Make certain you have all the Software Updates installed that are available for Mavericks. Periodically, Apple will provide printer driver updates from principal vendors. If this does not show up via Software Update for your printer, the relevant driver bundle can be searched and downloaded from Apple.
The following link may help. At the end of that content is how to reset your printer. Occasionally, this may become necessary following an operating system upgrade.

I would also recommend that you run Disk Utility and verify/repair permissions. Then verify the boot drive. You may find some Pages or printer driver content with the wrong permissions.
