Why does setup assistant not start?

I fully chraged the iPad but when I try to start it, and expect the Startup Assistant to appear, only the iTunes logo appears. This does not clear. How can I get the startup assistant to, well, start?

Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes - if it does not start on its own. That is what the logo on the screen is telling you to do - connect to iTunes. Once iTunes starts, it should instruct you in the step but step activation process.

Why does Vine Server not start with this script and work with the other?

I have the preferences of Vine Server set to start/run automatically when opening the programme.
If I double click the icon it works. Opens and starts.
If I use
activate application "Vine Server"
it opens but does not start.
If I use:
tell application "Finder"
activate
open application file "Vine Server.app" of folder "Vine Server 3" of folder "Applications" of startup disk
end tell
it opens and starts.
Anybody any idea as to why?
This seems to happen since I upgraded form 10.4 to 10.5.

Do you have multiple versions of Vine Server application, perhaps?
If so, that might cause the described behaviour.
You may try using full path to the current Vine Server application such as -
activate application "/Applications/Vine Server 3/Vine Server.app"
or -
tell application "/Applications/Vine Server 3/Vine Server.app" to activate

Why does nidevldr service not start reliably?

nidevldr service does not start (consistently) after reboot. We are running TestStand 4.2.1 on Win 7, 32 bit.
National Instruments mDNS service starts after reboot, but stops shortly thereafter. As we understand it, the NI mDNS must be started in order for nidevldr to start.
Both services are set to automatically restart after 1st, 2nd & subsequent failures per NI Document ID: 4BHID6DE.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Aside from the cases mentioned in the 4BHID6DE document, It's possible that there is a firewall or antivirus software that is restricting this service from running properly. If you have any of those configured they may be worth adding exceptions to.
But, as Doug mentioned, this probably isn't the best place to pose this type of question as this forum is focuses on TestStand questions. I would actually recommend posting in the Multifunction DAQ (https://forums.ni.com/t5/Multifunction-DAQ/bd-p/250) forums, as they rely more on the device loader service for troubleshooting DAQ hardware.

Hi - having a real problem...I didn't use my mac yesterday and then today when I went to turn it on the keyboard was lit up but the screen didn't light up so I turned it off and on..ooops! Now everything works ok but when I go to start up mail a box pops up with: "to use the new features in mail your exsisting mail messages need to be imported to the version the first time you use the mail. This might take a few minutes. You will not be able to use mail until this has finished" I clicked import, it took a few minutes to import the messages and once it was done I went to open mail and it just doesn't do anything. When I go to quit mail it says I am forcing mail to quit...rreally need to open my mail. Help please!

You may have a corrupt .plist, but try to isolate the issue.

IE uses a different version of Flash than other browsers use. You need to install the Plugin version of Flash for Firefox.
1.Download the Flash setup file from here:

Save it to your Desktop. 
2. Close Firefox using File > Exit 
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed,

3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.

BTW- Your profile shows you have iOS 6.1.4 installed. The max iOS for an iPad is 6.1.3. iOS 6.1.4 is for iPhones only.

Why does front row not have simple organization?

I currently have a hard drive hooked into my macmini which is hooked up to my TV. On my hard drive I have over 1000 movies, all purchased through iTunes. However when I use front row and i goto the movie section, I have to scroll through every movie to get to the one I want. There's no way to scroll by letter, only one by one. This is horrible and takes forever. Can apple do an update that makes the right button on the apple remote for scrolling letter by letter. For example, you click the right button to goto movies starting with B, C, D, E, F, etc. Then the down button for one by one scrolling. Also, why does front row not have genres? AppleTV does. Why not incorporate that into front row? Think, Apple, Think.

You can have sub-folders in the Movies folder and arrange your movies alphabetically that way.

AVG reports these sqlite cookies each time firefox starts. they usually belong to tribalfusion or some other tracker. How do I block them in the first place. I thought firefox is a safe browser. Did not have this problem until I upgraded to 3.6.

Does Setup Assistant transfer files from unused deleted apps to the new HD?

I just purchased a new Macbook pro and want to use setup assistant to transfer the data from my older Macbook Pro. Does setup assistant copy ALL files on the old hard drive? Specifically old hidden files from programs I have deleted.

Pardon me? I think your comment is messing up. First, you have any important tip to try to help G540516? This is not a forum for argue between collaborating people. CleanMyMac it's an awarded app with 5 stars by MacWorld among other, it's an excellent app for cleaning your mac, specially with 3rd party apps without propper uninstallers.
Also the recommendation of this app was because G540516 have leftovers in the old machine, which he don't want to transfer. So I give an advice of how can use an app to avoid those leftovers.
I've 20+ years using Mac OS, I will never recommend some crappy soft. Anyway it was a recommendation. You are not pointing anything concrete, just your opinion. Please form now on try respect the people who help others.

Why Does Dynamic Link Not Work

I purchased the CS5 Adobe Production Premium. I have been working in Premiere and I have been learning about how to use Dynamic Link. I want to be able to alter clips in After Effects and bring them back and forth into Premiere. When I go to File/ Adobe Dynamic Link/New After Effect Composition, I get this message:
Adobe Dynamic Link Requires Adobe Production Premium.
Since I own production premium, I do not know why I am getting this message. I have reinstalled the CS5 Production Premium Software twice and it still gives me the same message. What can I do to get Dynamic Link Working.

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
To update, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

Your iPad should be updated to iOS 6.0.1 (which is the only version that is 'signed' by Apple), so you will lose the built-in YouTube app and the Maps app will change - though google do have app versions in the store

Why does Captivate 2 not think I have Flash installed? It will not start up even though I have the most recent version of Flash. It tries to redirect me to the download page every time.

The issue is actually due to the way all versions of Captivate prior to version 5 were coded. They were not able to understand the Flash Player numbering beyond a given version. Once that version of Flash Player is exceeded, they give the same error message as shown when your Flash Player version is too LOW.
When Captivate 4 had this issue Adobe provided a download patch to resolve. But you have absolutely NO chance now of getting a fix for something as old as Cp2.
