Why does spell checker skip some text captions?

I spell checked my project and found typos. But there was another typo on the very first slide, first text caption, which it left behind. Why did it do this?
I thought, maybe this typo is in my dicitonary, so I deleted more letters from the word, and it still did not find it.
Then, my search on this topic I found advice to export all captions to Word and spell check there, then reimport back into Captivate. Is there something I don't understand here? Why does spell check find some errors and not others?
Please straighten me out.
Thx!

Hi there
Just a WAG here, but what had focus when you kicked off the spell checker? My thought here is that many spell checkers work in "directions". For example, in some apps, you choose whether you search from the selected point forward or from the selected point backward. So assuming Captivate is programmed to work in "this point forward" mode only and you have perhaps slide three selected, that would explain why earlier slides would be skipped.
Note that it's only a theory at this point. Either way, I'd strongly suggest you consider filing a bug report to the development team about it so they can investigate. (Link to the reporting form is in my sig)
Cheers... Rick

  • Why does Spell Check not stay enabled, how do I fix it?

Every time Firefox closed, the spell check does the same thing? I want to enable it, and for it to stabilize with Firefox, and other software that it has worked with in the past.

then try the basic troubleshooting steps recommended in the manual:  restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.
    Have you contacted snapchat support?

Hi, can someone please tell me why the spell check in pages doesn't work. I went to preferences and enabled this auto spell checker and have set the language to british english. But still it doesn't work while it works perfectly in TextEdit.

    Inspector > Text > More > Language
Only applies to selected text, like making it a particular font.
It is not a setting that sticks. If you continue to paste in text from elsewhere particularly the Internet it will have a different or None language set to it. You need to select it and make it B.E.

  • Why does Preview automatically resize the text box to cut off the last character of added text? How do I fix it?

Why does Preview automatically resize the text box to cut off the last character of added text? How do I fix it?
I use the Tools > Annotate > Add Text feature, and when I click away after adding text, it automatically changes the text box size such that the last letter -- or last word -- gets bumped off into an invisible line below it, forcing me to manually adjust every single text box. It is highly annoying when trying to complete PDF forms (e.g. job applications).
It appears to be a glitch, quite honestly, an error resulting from Apple's product design. Has it been fixed in the new operating system (for which they want $30)?
I would very much appreciate any help you can provide! Thank you for your time.

  • Why does my iphone send all text from only one of my contacts to my email?

Why does my iphone send all text from only one of my contacts to my email? I'm curious to know if anyone else has had this issue with the Iphone 5s...

imessage has a new setting that shows all emails associated with your apple id.  There are two sections, send and receive.  Since you are using the same apple id, Im sure if you adjust one of those settings to your mobile number instead of your appleid, it wont send double.
You might also have to adjust your wifes settings too, so those emails dont overlap

  • In Design CS5 Spell check skipping text boxes

I'm running Mac OSX 10.5.8 on my MacBook.
I am working on a menu with a number of text boxes.  When I do spell check it seems to only check the box where the cursor is located.  I have tried doing Cmd+A ( to select all the boxes on a page) and it doesn't seem to help.
I have dynamic spelling enabled, but there are words I know spellcheck dislikes that don't have red lines beneath them.
I have all the preferences checked and Language:English:USA is in place.  Case sensitive is also checked.
Any ideas?  I'm nervous I'm going to miss a spelling error which will doubtless subject me to endless ribbing from my coworkers.  However, selecting the actual words in each individual text box will take forever.
    Thanks!

That's what I thought, but it didn't seem to be doing so.  There are a number of words I haven't added to my dictionary purposefully - such as bleu - because, while I use them a lot when doing menus, I'd hate to have the word "blue" misspelled in another doc and miss it.
You can create a character style with the language property, such as French, and any other specific properties you like. ID uses the specified [EDIT] language's ]/EDIT] dictionary when spell-checking content, so "bleu" tagged with the French character style will pass the checker, but "bleu" tagged by default as your default language, like the overwhelming preponderance of your text, will be detected as an error.

  • Some text caption prefs not reflected in recorded project

    In Captivate 5:
Among others, I have set the following preferences prior to recording:
    Font size: 12pt
    Vertical alignment: Top
    Display for: Rest of slide
The text captions in the resulting recording show the following:
    Font size: 19pt
    Vertical alignment: Middle
    Display for: Specific time
Any ideas as to why some of the text caption prefs are not being applied to the recording (while some are)?
    Many thanks.

Absolutely. Here are screen captures to clarify:
Settings in Prefs and Object Style Manager prior to recording:
Properties of text caption in resulting recorded project (notice some settings match while the three identified [Size, Vertical alignment, and Display for] do not):

  • Why does my hyperlink change to text in ES?

I am trying to create a PDF form in LiveCycle ES. My goal is to have a company form that Employee A can fill out in Adobe Reader, save and post to our intranet site where Employee B can retrieve it. I want Employee A to be able to copy a Google map link and paste it into the form. The Google link will change with every form she fills out. Then Employee B can open the form in Reader, click on the link and go straight to the correct map.
For the Google link, I have a text field in Rich Text. When I view the form in Preview, I am able to highlight the default text in the field ("click here"), highlight it, and right-click to insert the hyperlink. But as soon as I tab over to another field, the link changes to a non-clickable Google string of text.
It doesn't matter whether I view the form in LC PReview, or whether I save it and do the Extend Features in Adobe Reader. The link does not stay a link. I have tried making the form a static form, a dynamic form, changed every text field object I could, but I get the same result.
    What am I missing?

First thing is why are you using a Rich Text Field .....woudln't a regular field be enough? Secondly you are pasting a string that represents a link. The field onlt deals with a string and cannot actually link for you (it is a field not a link). You  could add code to the field that woudl perform the linking operation. On the click event of the field you coudl add code something like this:
//check to see if the default string is present
    if (this.rawValue != "click here"){
//we have a different string present
         xfa.host.gotoURL(this.rawValue)
    Make sense?

  • Why is Spell Checker Wrong So Often?

I often find words I've written being marked as "wrong", yet when I check with any of the "full-sized" on-line dictionaries, I find that I am correct, not Apple. This is frustrating, since it does help me catch typos, but then I waste time verifying that many of the words it flags are in fact, correct.
Anyone know why it is not more accurate? It's almost as much a joke as the Apple "Help" feature....

    What are the example words?
Please list example words with used program.
And often, when I click "look up in dictionary", it will affirm my spelling was correct, which is really wack, as the dictionary & own spell check should be in synch, no?
    Apparently they are different files.
You could try Pacifist and see if you could figure on how to re-load the language dictionaries.
" Pacifist 2.5.2 is a shareware application that opens Mac OS X .pkg package files, .dmg disk images, and .zip, .tar, .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, and .xar file archives and allows you to extract individual files and folders out of them. This is useful, for instance, if an application which is installed by the operating system becomes damaged and needs to be reinstalled without the hassle of reinstalling all of Mac OS X. Pacifist is also able to verify existing installations and find missing or altered files*, and Pacifist can also examine the kernel extensions installed in your system to let you see what installer installed them, and whether the installer was made by Apple or a third-party."

  • How can I enable spell checking for a text box that is just one line, e.g. subject in e-mail?

In a prior version of Firefox I found a website somewhere that told me what to do to enable spell checking for text boxes that are just one line. I got used to being able to send an e-mail with a Subject Line that didn't have a misspelling. Now it doesn't work. Please tell me how I can enable that again. I am on a Mac using Firefox 6.0.2. Thanks!

  • Why does Siri not read my text messages to me?

Why does my Siri not read my text messages to me?

If your phone is locked with a passcode and you ask siri to read any new text message, Siri tells you to unlock it first, which you do by entering the passcode and the moment you do that Siri says 'OK' and starts reading your message without you doing anything else.
However if you have not set the passcode in your phone and if your phone is locked (which means you have yet not done 'slide to unlock') and you ask siri to read the message then you will hear nothing..there will be silence ..and then 'siri will ask you to reply or read it again'. If you want to hear the message then first slide to unlock your phone and then ask siri to read for any new text messages and you will start hearing your message.
Let me know if this does not work.
    Cheers
