Why does the Adobe Acrobat DC Update Fail on a Mac Running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2?

I don't have Adobe Acrobat installed anymore, yet CC is still telling me I need to update Adobe Acrobat DC. When I try to update it, it gets to 35% and fails, every time. I've tried quitting and reopening CC; quitting CC, deleting the OOBE folder in my profile, and reopening CC. Regardless, it fails. Here's the output:
Exit Code: 7

  • Why does the Adobe Acrobat plugin crash everytime I open a PDF?

I am currently running the Firefox 11.0, which is the most up-to-date version as of this writing. Every time I open a PDF file, it says that "Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, which came as part of my school's standard software package. The Mozilla website says I have the most up-to-date version of the Acrobat plugin.
P.S. I recently updated my version of Adobe Reader X to try to fix the problem, but that didn't work. I'm not entirely sure how Reader is related to Acrobat, so I don't know if that would affect my ability to read PDFs in Firefox.

    hi WDWPhishFan,
Have you looked at [[The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed]] and [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]]?
The first article has a lot of good troubleshooting steps that might help. The second article actual lists a couple of plugins that can be used for opening PDF files. I'd give both of them a try just in case.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Adobe Acrobat DC Update Failed

    Hi,
I have a big problem with updating to Adobe Acrobat DC (Windows 8.1, 64 bit); I am trying to install it since three days now. When installing out of the CCInstaller, the following error appears:

Same problem here! I just want to install Acrobat DC and I get the same problem, but my old acrobat version (Acrobat XI Pro still working). Are you really mean that with this 'installation of Microsoft Visual Studio' it will work. I can't effort that my acrobat don't work any longer. Thanks!
Here are some steps worth trying. Looks like your Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Run-time installation is corrupt.
I found that following steps work if you're getting error:
"Error 1722.  There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package.  A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor.  Action InstallWebResources, location c:\program files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat\AcrpCEF\AcroServicesUpdater.exe"
Try following steps and it should work:
    1) Goto Download Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 from Official Microsoft Download Center and click Download.
    2) Select vcredist_x86.exe and download the package.
    3) If you're on a 64 bit machine navigate to "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\" else navigate to "C:\Windows\System32" on 32 bit machines. If "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" folder exists then you're on a 64 bit machine.
    4) Search for msvcr120.dll and msvcp120.dll and rename both files. Don't delete them so that just in case vcredist_x86.exe package fails to install you can rename them back.
    5) Now double click vcredist_x86.exe and install it. After installation completes check that msvcr120.dll and msvcp120.dll are now installed back. You can delete the files that you renamed in step above now. Don't delete msvcr120.dll and msvcp120.dll
    6) Install Acrobat through CC Installer and it should install now without complain.

  • Why does the Adobe Help Manager not close?

I'm not sure what the "Adobe Help Manager" (silly name) is. I notice it as an open application in my toolbar (Windows 7) but you cannot close it. It just stays there. Only goes away when I've restarted my system. Any ideas or comments?
Generally speaking, I'd like to comment that many of the current Adobe programs (including CC) are not nearly as intuitive as they should be. One wastes quite a bit of time trying to figure out how to accomplish rather obvious functions. Usually will have to go online to find an answer. Should be more obvious and clear. The interface of CC (for uploading work files) seems a "clean" design. Yes, clean... and unintuitive.

It's been weeks since I've used the file upload 'cloud' function of Creative Cloud, but I do recall I had to seek out numerous youtube videos, as well as some from Adobe's site, to try and figure out how it worked. Dragging and dropping seemed like a very obvious function, but you have to select: Actions: Download, etc. etc. It's a clunky, dispiriting interface.
So... I just started using google drive instead. I can quickly drag and drop. I work on a PC and a Mac and don't have a shared drive between them (due the usual platform issues) so I like uploading to a cloud server and transferring between the two machines that way. Very nice to compare how the two different systems are displaying an html doc or a photoshop file.
While the wind is at my back, I really like CC as to the software options, but it is a very daunting experience to consider learning new programs. It's taken me fifteen years of work to be  as proficient as I am with PS (as a photographer and designer). I still find Dreamweaver very difficult and obscure in so many ways. I'm sure that's why you created Muse... but I will not take the time required to learn and new program. It's just a face. Remember in the Matrix when you would learn a huge amount of technical knowledge just by plugging into something? That's what we need (ha ha).
Now that Adobe is doing away with the distributive disc system for software programs, perhaps the next great leap is the discontinuation entirely of massive software progams themselves. Have no idea how this would happen, but I think patience is coming to an end for learning huge new software programs. Seems like such a relic of the past now.
Wish Adobe would bring designers more into how their programs work. They all seem to be designed by software engineers, and thus the truly disheartening style of the menues, opening into dozens of submenues, basements, dark vaults, etc. etc. The Adobe interfaces are all uniform now, but it's an old look that goes back almost ten years. Hope the creatives can soon lead to a new approach.

  • Why does the adobe flash plugin crash whenever I try to view a video file?

When attempting to view video files, except youtube, the Adobe Flash plugin always (this is consistent) crashes. I have sent numerous crash reports. I have since the problem first occurred updated firefox at least twice and Adobe Flash has been updated the same number of times. I have not always had this problem, but now it is recurring. Note: the plugin does not crash if I use IE.

  • Why does the Adobe Standard profile make a mess of old NEF files?

Recently I've been reprocessing some old NEF files taken with the Nikon D50 camera years ago, and I was startled to find that the Adobe Standard camera profile does a bad job on them: the photos come out muddy-looking, really unacceptable, with too much yellow and magenta. I can fix the problem by choosing the Camera Standard profile, which gives acceptable results. However, I believe that Adobe Standard is generally recommended by Adobe, and I wonder what the problem is here. Does anyone know?
I currently use a Nikon D7000, and Adobe Standard seems to work well enough with that camera.
Later: After checking and comparing more carefully, I think that perhaps I prefer Camera Standard with the D7000 too. Adobe Standard is certainly acceptable with the D7000, but Camera Standard gives blue skies of clearer blue, and less exaggerated reds. So the best fix for me is probably to make Camera Standard my default for all cameras.
Looking around the Web, I see various people complaining about too much magenta with Adobe Standard, although other people are happy with it.

Yammer P, thanks for the input.  I have been working with the DNG Profile Editor since the first version was available.  I also started using the Passport software when it was first available.  I first worked on a profile for the D200 and after many attempts I finally have one that works great.  The Camera profiles did not exist at that time and the D200 does not have Picture Control Profiles, I believe that was first available with the D300.  Adobe did generate Picture Control Profiles for the D200 and they are also available in Nikon Capture NX2.
I currently have a D700, and have spent a lot of time working on profiles for this camera.  I have used the DNG Profile Editor's Chart Tab to generate profiles for most of the Camera Profiles and Adobe Standard.  I find that Adobe Standard profile is brighter than the Camera profiles by about 0.25 stop.  After working on this for about 2 years I have decided to use the Camera Neutral with a modified tone curve and slight reduction in saturation as my starting point and no changes in hue.  I also generated a modified Picture Control profile for Neutral using the Nikon Picture Control software that has the same characteristics and loaded it into the camera.  I get good agreement between jpg's from the camera and the nef file that opens in ACR without adjustments.   The tone curve I used only has three points - the In/out values are 27/22, 127/127, 228/233 and saturation was set to -5.
I don't understand what Adobe changed when they genrated the Adobe Standard Profile instead of the ACR4.x versions, but I like the ACR4.x version better.

  • Why does the Adobe Flash Player pop up keep on appearing when using the browser. It never used to before the upgrade to the latest version.

Since updating to the latest version of Firefox the Adobe Flash player pop up continually pops up whether the page needs flash player or not. It even shows for a text page.
    It is very annoying

You can set the default in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" and change that for the Shockwave Flash plugin to "Always Activate".
You can inspect and manage permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:
*Click the "[[Site Identity Button|Site Identity Button]]" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
*Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
*Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

  • Why does the Adobe App Mgr incorrectly insist on a Creative Cloud subscription?

I have valid and active licenses for many Adobe products, all associated with my Adobe ID. I was using a CS6 license key just fine, until the Adobe Application Manager started complaining and asking for a cloud sub renewal. I do not want to run this under a cloud sub. I have the full license key already. But the Adobe App Mgr does not provide a way to enable it. What to do?

And on Windows you can't ignore, skip or postpone that installation.
