Why does the App Store keep telling me I have apps that need updating?

My iPhone keeps displaying the little notification that I need to update 1 or multiple apps even when I don't. It happens all the time and it's just a quirky thing. Are there any fixes for this?

  • App store keeps telling me I have an update but I don't.

The app store on my iPad had an update for an app the other day but rather than updating I chose to delete the app as it was of no use. However the app store keeps telling me I have an update but when I open the app store none are listed.
    Anyone experienced this?
Also the iPad keeps telling me my mail settings are incorrect and that I should check them yet I can still send and receive my mail.
    Anyone experienced this?

    A couple of thoughts.
Once you purchase an app, you will continue to get the update notification even if you delet the app. the notification is based on your purchase history and I don't think there is anything you can do to stop the update notices.
As for the email alert - no clue - but this is what I would do. Restart your iPad. Hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut down. To start up again, hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Maybe the email alert will go away.

  • Why does my Macbook Pro keep telling me I have to hold down my power button until it shuts down and then restart?, Why does my Macbook Pro keep telling me I have to hold down my power button until it shuts down and then restart?

While transferring files from one external hard drive to another, my MacBook Pro routinely would freeze and often render a message to hold down the start button until it shut down and then restart. I have i7 why does it keep locking up?

You can go back to original hardware; run Apple Hardware Test even.
Remove 3rd party RAM ( much rarer I think )
USB printers, cables, devices and drivers.
    What changed?

  • Why does the iTunes Store keep crashing on my iPhone 5 running ios7?

The same question as the title.

Pogster, yes thanks for the heads up but if enough of us post (and help each other), it trends and surely Apple gets the message.
Interestingly the problem appeared again when I started iTunes with iPhone connected. All ok when i started without it connected (and used the previous fix) and have just imported a new CD without any crashes. Plugged in the iPhone and just synced/backed up OK.
Perhaps a wild guess, but the latest iPhone upgrade is checking on the 'originality' of the connection cable.

Read this whole message before doing anything.
Back up all data. Quit the App Store application if it’s running. Test after each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Updates
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Move the contents of the selected folder to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
    Step 2
Do as in Step 1 with this line:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
If there's no change, quit the App Store and restore the file you moved from your backup, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, recreate your settings in the Software Update preference pane.
    Step 3
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (some may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate
    Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.*.plist
    Saved Application State/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.savedState
Here, "*" stand for a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes.
    Step 4
If you still have problems, quit the App Store again.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    open $TMPDIR../C
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). A folder should open. Inside that folder, there may be a subfolder with the name "com.apple.SoftwareUpdate". If so, delete it. You can then quit Terminal.

  • Why does my iPhone camera keep telling me "Cannot take photo" there is not enough available storage to take a photo, etc? I have it hooked up to ICloud and the cameral roll???

Why does my iPhone camera keep telling me "cannot take photo" there's not enough storage, but I have my phone/camera roll hooked up to Icloud and have purchased additional storage???

iCloud storage has nothing to do with remaining memory on the phone - only memory for backups and Photostream.  The photo has to first be stored on the phone and copies sent to iCloud.  If there is not enough available memory on the phone, the photo can't be taken.
To determine the remaining memory on the phone:
    Settings > General > Usage > Storage
The Camera Roll is meant for temporary storage of photos, which should be imported to an app on your computer and deleted from Camera Roll.  You can then sync back those photos which you want to keep on the phone.

why does my email account keep telling me my username or password is incorrect when it isn't?

Sky email is provided by Google now. Have you tried logging in via webmail on a desktop computer? Occasionally Google asks you to verify your account by entering a CAPTCHA which can't be done in a dedicated email client.
If that doesn't help, try removing and then re-setting up the account, following the directions here:

  • Why does the Apple store carry  iKlear cleaning solution in stores?

I noticed that the manual with my MacBook Pro just recommends dampening the cloth with water in order to clean the screen. Then why does the Apple store and website promote iKlear cleaning solution for the screen (rhetorical question) ? Is this product safe or not for cleaning the screen? Thanks.

They carry it because they're a store, and like any store, anything that boost the margins is great to have on the shelf. It's the same reason any store sells really expensive accessories.
I've always used water as the manual recommends. But iKlear is safe and I'm not necessarily against it. It may be good for unusual or stubborn stains that water can't dissolve. But for everyday cleaning, the question is whether you would prefer to clean your screen for free, or by paying for an expensive chemical.
I've never bought a screen protector for my iPhone either, and it's been totally fine.

  • Why does the iTunes Store (iTunes 11.2) keep asking for my Apple ID password on launch?

    iTunes 11.2, Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.3
The iTunes Store keeps asking for Apple ID password on launch, and with every download, even when I am already logged in to the iTunes Store with my Apple ID. I am using iCloud, my iCloud account is set up on my iMac and I am using iCloud Keychain. My Apple ID password is stored in my Keychain. So why can't the iTunes Store remember me?

    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

  • Why does the Invisible Man keep playing my music?

I have an iPod Touch & the only thing that bugs me with it is that when I finish with it, I pause the music and then turn it off with the switch at the top left
However when I come back later, the music has restarted and been consistently playing whilst I was not aware - and so I am 20 songs further down my playlist & end up with less battery power than expected
The only thing that I can think of for this is that the remote control on the headphones has been triggered, e.g. if the ipod is in my pocket or in a bag & it touches something.
Has anyone else had this problem or am I missing something when turning it off?
I have started disconnecting the headphones when not using it, I will see if this makes a difference
    Many thanks!

ok what I have come up with ... if there is an update available from another store then the iPhone will keep trying to take you to that store but as you are logged in to other store it will not let you connect ... solution which worked for me was to go to the store requiring app update, update the app, change back to "now" store !!!!
    in my case
    1. change store to Canada
    2. update app i.e Google earth
    3. revert to UAE store ...
    Voila !!!!
