Why does the App Store say I have no space on my MacBook Air?

I have 26.3GBs free on my new MacBook Air. I am trying to buy/download RAGE from the App Store (12.x)GBs and so I have more than enough space for it.
Every time I try and buy it, it tells me I do not have enough disk space to purchase the application! What in the world is going on?

Ds store is NOT correct. I don't have Java installed, and I never get those Java updates in the App Store. They will only show up if you have Java installed.
However, you say you REMOVED Java. There's really no good way to remove all components of Java once installed, so you still have some parts of Java installed somewhere, and that's triggering the updates.
Don't worry about removing Java, just disable it in any web browsers you use. See:

It sounds like you've installed Mavericks. You can confirm this by clicking on the Apple located at the top left of the screen and choosing "About This Mac" from the menu. You should see a window appear with the text "Version 10.9.1" near the middle.
If it says "Version 10.9.1", then you've installed Mavericks. It still says "Download" in the App Store because you can still download the operating system after installing it. This is useful if you want to download it for a friend, or create a USB boot drive.

Numbers crashed after the last update so I removed it from my Mac but now the App Store keeps saying it is still installed and won't let me re-download it. Any ideas? (I have restarted the computer)

Perhaps you could try this. In Mac App Store, click on Account, then sign in, and "Reset all warnings for buying and download.' Then sign out and back in and try downloading again.
(Also, make sure it's the Numbers in your Applications folder that you moved to the trash, not the Numbers that you may have in an iWork '09 subfolder within Applications. You'll probably want to keep the version that's in the subfolder because it's got features that the new Numbers does not have, at least not yet. The two versions for the most part coexist happily on the Mac.)

At first it was declining all of my debit cards when I was trying to purchase a FREE app from the store, it would not take a single card that I had. Now it keeps saying, "Session has timed out," when I go to add my new one.

Thanks for you reply. I'm 99% positive that I'm using the user id and password that I used to set up my computer. That's why I'm stumped. I read the solution someone else suggested (type your user name without @gmail and create a new password. When I tried it, I was asked for my birthday. It didn't recognize it. I know I got my birthday correct. Oh well...

Are you using a debit card? I read somewhere that debit card are not being accepted by itunes. Go to settings/itunes & app store, tap on the ID there then on view account, log in and check payment details to see if they are correct.

Why does the App Store always crash

Why does the app store always crash when I go to use the app genius on my ipod touch, it does it everytime. It even does it ocasionaly when I search for apps. Whats going on Apple. Please look into this or tell me how to turn genius off if thats what is causing the crashes, I can't find how to turn it off in the settings.

The most usual explanation would be that you need to update or you have to many things taking up your memory

I have a similar problem and have had this before.
I rang Apple the first time and they said because I had 2 Apple ID's this can happen so I cancelled one Apple ID (which is another problem and drama in itself) and that resolved the issue.
I now have the problem again with only one Apple ID so I've transferring purchases from my iPhone and iPad to iTunes. Then I synced again and hoped for the best. Unlucky! Didn't work. Time to call Apple support again...

Had to uninstall iWork trial since I bought the pages app and it wouldn't let me print or save. Now the app store says I have pages installed but I can't find it anywhere to open and use it. I'm not very computer savvy and am getting frustrated!

Ooops, guess I didn't need to post everything in the title - sorry! I bought the pages app - but couldn't save or print so with some online searching found that I had to uninstall the iWork trial which had expired. I did that - but now I can't figure out how to re-install the pages app!! The app store says it's installed, but I can't find it anywhere to open and use it. I'm not very computer savvy - and am a first time Mac user and am getting extremely frustrated! I e-mailed some help center and they can't seem to help me either. OK Apple has stuffed up the demo version upgrade process so the first thing you need to do is get rid of the demo.
That includes getting rid of the files in the system.
The instructions how to do that are here:
Note That where you see / that is the sequence of folders, each nested inside each other.
User/Library/Preferences the com.apple.iwork.Keynote.plist
Means the User (you, the little home icon, whatever you are called on your computer) then the Library folder inside that and then the Preferences folder inside that.
Lion initially hides the System folders from you so you have to go to the Finder > Menu > hold down the option key and click on GO > Library to see it.

I recently had Pages and iPhoto updates listed on the App Store for my computer running 10.6.8. After updating both programs and launching them I received the message "You cant't use this version of the application Pages/iPhoto with this version of Mac OS X. You have Mac OS X 10.6.8. The application requires Mac OS X 10.7.4 or later.
I have a dual boot Mac Pro 2008 with Mountain Lion 10.8 on an ssd and Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on my hard drive with all my data.
Does the App Store even check to see if the OS you are running is supported?

I think that you have confused the MAS with a dual boot system, so you may want to keep that in mind with future updates on your Snow Leo boot volume. The MAS can see apps on all partitions and connected drives. But as you can see from my screenshot, when it is a solo boot of Snow Leo, the MAS is not so easily fooled.

I often cannot connect to the app store with my new iPad, while I can at other times. All the support suggestions suggest that my WiFi connection is the problem. However all the other apps that need the WiFi connection, such as Safari, email and Dropbox work all the time. This seems to indicate that my connection is OK. It will happen if you activate a new device in your iTunes account, such as a new iPod, or, from my experience, randomly. Apple stepped up security some months back to cut down on fraudulent purchases.

Why does my App Store say all my apps are up to date when they're really not?

I'm in the process of updating my iPod touch 5G to iOS7, and before I do so, I would like to update all my apps to their current versions. However, no updates are showing in the App Store; it says they are all up-to-date when they really aren't. I had about 13 apps to be updated. Is this a glitch as a result of the Apple Store being increasingly optimized for iOS7? I haven't even updated to iOS7 yet; I'm still running 6.1.3. I can manually search for some of my apps in the App Store and update them way, but that's too much of an convenience. I'd like them all to be in the Updates section. Can someone help me out with this?

Mine was doing the same thing, open the store and go to updates and the screen will then refresh and tell you Itunes terms of service have changed. You'll have to agree to the new 54 pages of terms to get any updates
