Why does my mac keep logging me out

My mac keeps logging me out when I am not using it.

From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy
If there's a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane, click it and enter your login password when prompted.
Click the Advanced button and, in the sheet that opens, uncheck the box marked
Log out after … minutes of inactivity

Why does Mac App Store log me out in the middle of a download of Lion and "resume" won't work?

I have previously purchased a copy of OS Lion and have been loading it onto each of three Macs in our home network. This worked fine for an iMac G7 and iMac G5, but is failing for a White Macbook (running Snow Leopard 10.6.8). Other apps have been successfully downloaded on the Macbook, so the problem seems to be only associated with Lion (which is a 3-4hr dowload).
When I log onto my Mac App Store account and select "Purchases", my prior purchase of Lion is there as it should be. I then select "Install" and it starts to download as expected. Then about 10 minutes into the download, it pops-up that it is going to log out and offers me the option to click "cancel" (within so many seconds) to elect not to log out. If I select "cancel", it continues to download normally until about an hour later when the same thing occurs, and so on. If I do not select "cencel", then it logs out and when I log back in "Resume" doesn't work in App Store. It shows that zero GB have been downloaded when at least 1GB have already been downloaded.
So, unless I sit there vigilantly watching the download for 4 hours to select "cancel" whenever it pops up. I just can't download the software this way. With a capped data plan, this has the potential to be very expensive.
Btw, I have tried the simple thing of switching from a WIFI connection to cable, but this had no impact on the problem.

Launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.
Try again.

Why does the directory ~/var/log keep appearing?

It doesn't matter how many times I delete it, every few hours the blank directory ~/var/log gets created on my computer.
I think it may have something to do with my Brother HL2170W printer, which is connected to my wifi network. But that's just from the fruitless googling on this topic I've already done.
Does anyone know why a blank ~/var/log directory would persistently appear?

~var/log/ is a directory that holds log files. If it actually has a ~ in the name, some software is trying to write to the hidden directory, but has been miss-configured and is creating the directory you see instead of writing to /Users/username/var/log. ~/ is short for your home folder, but the program is actually writing that as part of the path name instead of being a path.

Why does the program keep signing me out

The program does not let me sign in. It will work for a second, freeze, then displays "You've been signed out". Please help as I would like to use this program.

I had this bugs like many others having older device. It seems to be memory related. Other posts doesn't give a solution at of today and you may expect to have to wait for 6.0.1 to maybe solve this. Nothings did solve the AppStore crashing under genious or search section. It appears to be that when there is too many results, the AppStore is crashing.
iOS6 on iPod Touch 5th gen does work properly even from the backup of my faulty 4th gen. Then new generation does have twice the RAM of the 4th.

Why does the keyboard sit in the middle of the page? Most times covering the place where u are typing.

My husband bought this used IPad and it is great. The problem is that when the keyboard comes up it stays in the middle of the screen covering the lace where you are typing. It is impossible to see what you are typing. You have to move the keyboard to check for any mistakes. It is extremely frustrating. Please help!

When the keyboard is visible, touch and hold the little keyboard icon on the lower right side of the keyboard, (below the right side shift key). When the window opens select "dock".

Why does my itouch 3g battery run out so quickly when i use apps?

I recently bought a ipod touch 3g off somebody else. I have found that when I go on to any apps that i have downloaded, the battery reduces. One time I went to play a game for about 20 minutes and went back to the home screen to find my battery had decreased by 20%. Has anyone had the same problem?

If you have iOS 5 installd it ends to drain the battery a little faster. See the following for extending battery life:

Also, with use the battery capacity goes down and % wise it drains faster.

Why does the forum log me out so quickly, requiring me to re-enter my ID & password all the time? When I reply to a post I also have to re-enter both items. Even my online banking is saavy enough to reconnize me and autofil my ID.

It works for me. This looks like some browser issue. Try Clearing browser cache and signing in again.

Why does iTunes U site manager log me out when returning to collection manager?

So here's the problem ... kind of a weird thing has been happening lately with Site Manager. When I click on the feed of a collection to interact with the actual content (change the order, correct a typo etc.) and then click to return to collections manager, the site logs me out. When I log back in, it won't let me go back into the collection and gives an error message saying that the collection is unavailable because someone is already logged in to it. When I wait an hour or so, I can access the collection feed again but once I return to collections manager, I get logged out. I have tried this on different versions of Safari and in Lion with the same results. It is just in the last couple of weeks that this has been happening. Any ideas?

Updating iTunes may not be the reason at all. It could very well be the Support Team has fixed the problem, which i think is the case.
Also, I learned i should report EACH problem to iTunes U Support Team using its Report Form:

I used the Report Form a couple of months ago to report a different problem. One tech support person responsded and I have been emailing to that individual via email about a few more issues since then. This, however, is NOT a good practice. Reporting each problem using the report form will help the iTunes Support Team to prioritize the work based on urgency.
Anyway, I am releaved it is working now. Thank you. And thanks to the iTunes U Support Team and iTunes U Editors.

Probably a glitch in Safari.
Quit Safari - double tap the Home button to reveal the multi-tasking window at the bottom. Swipe sideqays until you see the Safari icon. Tpa-and-hold until the red circle/hwite bar appears, then tap that to close Safari. You might do that with all the icons to be sure.
Tap the Home button to close multi-tasking.
Restart the device (hold Home and Sleep for around 10 seconds untl the Apple logo appears).
Fingers crosed, that'll fix it

That is unfortunately a bug only in Firefox 5 and will be fixed in Firefox 6 (Aug).

Why does my form data gets cleared out when clicking on the back button.

Can someone explain why does my form selections get cleared out when clicking on the back button.
I have a JSP page that displays a form with some selections and text boxes. I populate the page and submit the request. The action on the submit call another jsp page, which processes the data and displays the results via a <jsp:include> statement which calls the results page. When clicking on the back button from the results page, it returns me to the form page, but the selections are cleared out.
1. Is there something in my calling of the pages that causes this behavior and can I prevent it?
I notice that the behavior is different when using the IE 6.0 version Netscape 7.1. IE clears the page Netscape 7.1 retains the settings.
If I cannot prevent this behavior does that mean I will have to save the state of the form data. And if I have to save the form data, what would be the easiest method of doing this. I'm a beginner to JSP and Java, but have some ASP experience. I don't understand why the back button in a JSP request clears the form data but a regular HTML page does not can someone explain?

the browser doesn't have to remember what you submitted and fill that back in.
you can't prevent it unless you can ensure a new request to the server in which you can fill the default values in there.
