Why does the bit debth of my raw file image different in my camera, in Brigde and in when opened in Photoshop?
I have a Nikon D700 12 megapixel full frame camera which has a 12 – 14 bit depth. I usually shoot images with the Nikon raw file format (NEF) with the color space setting at Adobe RGB (1998). When I select a photo to look at the details of the metadata in Adobe Bridge the bit depth is indicated as 16 and the color as RGB. Opening up the picture in Photoshop displays the long narrow detail line down the near the bottom of the screen. It indicates that the color is 8 bit but still Adobe RGB (1998).
Can someone please explain these fluctuations? This is still a NEF file I am referring to.
Thanks.
With Camera Raw open, you'll need to set the Color Space and Bit Depth is it to open as in Photoshop. See image:
Edit: Also, a raw file contains raw data - no embedded color profile. At least not that any programs, except Nikon's, will recognize.

Why does the color red change from working with images in develop to library? The color gets lighter and nothing shows a change on histogram but visually you can see it.
That's probably a broken display profile. The conversion from Library's Adobe RGB is different than the conversion from Develop's linear ProPhoto, so if there's a problem with the display profile it can show up this way.
Recalibrate, or if you don't have a calibrator use sRGB. If your monitor is a wide gamut model use Adobe RGB.
Assuming Windows, change it in Control Panel > Color Management > Devices, and relaunch Lightroom so that it can pick up the new profile at startup: -
(why does) Bridge CS4 damages Canon D50-RAW Files ! ?
I turn to this forum because i’m desperate and clueless…
I shoot with a canon d50 in RAW (cr2). I then copy the media files via card reader on my laptop in to the shootings folder,
There into a subfolder:
There i cyop my files. I watch them with BRIDGE (and only watching no hue/crop, or whatsoever) (RAW PlugIn v5.5) and because after 12 GB of shooting my laptop-harddrive
gets full i copy the files onto my extern hard-disk (lacCie rugged)
Does Bridge write somethin into my files ??? even when i only watch them ?
BECAUSE, PROBLEM:
The files i copied onto the externel, i change in Bridge to wathc this new folder and SUDDENLY the raw files LOOK VERY STRANGE:
The preview renders fine the suddenly the fine preview renders thme into some strange chunk of error…
WELL…
not so cool. why is that ?
Thanks for your help…
Patrick
from Switzerland:-)
PS:
• in aperture, lightroom, canon prof. it looks everywhere the same…
• I dont think is the smart card/ copy process… i had this before… i wathced the raw files via bridge oon my laptop… everythin ist fine … BUT when i copy them to the external harddisc … and watch then… the files are corrupted the same way
• is there an interface, RAW, problem with the canon d50? I know there was a delay/problem developing for the all new cr2 foramt from canon…Sorry Patrick, Did not see the previews before, only saw the thread via
email and they don't show the samples you provide.
After seeing those files it looks definitely like corrupted images. I cannot
imagine Bridge to cause this. Rereading your post, it more looks the result
of a bad functioning write/read process on the external HD or a bad USB
cable.
Assuming you have back up could you test this on either an other HD or a
DVD. Just copy the files again to those devices and retry. That would proof
the fault lies with the external HD.
Could you report back on that?
Thanks for your tips. I tried, BUT didnt solve my problem.
Have you seen how the pictures are distracted ?
They seem hav gotten some kind of alien-verystrange-crazy-adjusments -
Why does the fire fox page change, sometimes it is just an orange fire fox button on the top left that opens a panel with all the things listed in it and then it sometimes has a bar across the top that says File, Edit, View, History, bookmarks, tools, Help? I barely get used to using one type of set up and then it changes to the other without me doing anything??

Why does the edge of a rectangle show through image placed on top?
I can't figure out why the edge of my yellow filled rectangle shows through the images I place over top of it.
A very thin but visible line appears in my image when the rectangle has no stroke, and a thicker, dark line appears when I apply black stroke to the rectangle.
I've tried arranging the rectangle to the back and the images to the front, but it doesn't work.
Another strange thing about this phenomenon is that it sometimes appears in the Indesign document itself, and sometimes, it is only appearing when I convert to PDF (using X-3:2002 preset).
Any ideas on what's going on. It's driving me crazy.
Thanks.I did try this change to the pdf settings before, and it doesn't appear to have an effect.
Here are is a sample screen shot of the issue. This is a small part of the PDF created as you have suggestion with the crop image to frames turned off. The line is visible in both the Indesign workspace and the pdf. This is what it looks like without stroke around the yellow box. The image is a png produced in photoshop elements. I've zoomed in quite a bit (that text is 15pt), but it seems like it would show up in a print job. -
Here is the code I am using:
<video autoplay="autoplay" controls="controls" preload="auto">
<source src="images/nematode.mp4" type="video/mp4">
</video>
I left out the .ogg and .webm formats because I can't find a reliable site to convert them. Can someone tell me what is wrong with my code and where I can find a reliable .ogg and .webm converter site?Have you tried this with any player and does this happens with all browsers or some specific browser ?
Its possible that correct MIME is not rendered ,browsers rely on the MIME type sent in the server headers.
Can you test out with different files and new pages , try to use original format of mp4 for testing.
Thanks,

Why does the video I rendered as Quicktime file stop playing at one minute?
Hey guys! I need your help big time!
I am making a slideshow type video of pictures with titles and I am adding keyframes and using the Tweening tool between frames to add transitions to the video. I have added all the tweening slides, and when I export the video I am exporting it as a Quicktime file. When I watch the video all the transitions are good, but the entire video will not play.
There are 9 photos in the video and when I first play the video normally the first 5 pictures and their transitions show up, and then the video "stops" because it has reached one minute ("the end"), but if you let it sit there then the other 4 pictures and their transitions still play but the video is technically stopped.
Then when you rewind the video back to 30 or so seconds the 5th picture that it previously stopped at one minute on occurs at 30 seconds and then the other 4 play correctly with their transitions from 30 seconds to a minute.
I am going to be making several small video files like this and then merging them together to create the full file and before I go any further in the process I need to make sure that the video file Photoshop is rendering for me is the FULL file. Please, if anyone at all knows how to help me with this, then please do!
Thank you for your help!!We also have the problem, we have installed at our beauty blog FLASH one player plugin
But the Flash Player on your PC will not open
what could be the uhrsache? -
Normally, at least in most Windows programs, and I think other OSes too, items that can be used are black, and items in gray are inactive so that they are not available. It's disconcerting to see the menu in gray, even though they work.
Hi Melaniefromnorth saanich,
Take a look at the Photos User Manual below. Is it possible you were deleting photos from an album and not from your library?
Delete photos and video - Photos Help
https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/index.html#/pht3bfab2f96
Delete photos and videos
Do one of the following:
Delete a photo from an album, but not from your library: Select the items you want to delete, then press Delete.
Delete a photo from a moment (placing it in the Recently Deleted album): Select the items you want to delete, press Delete, then click Delete.
Delete a photo from a moment or album (placing it in the Recently Deleted album): Select the items you want to delete, then press Command-Delete.
Deleted photos and video aren’t immediately removed from your library; they’re placed in the Recently Deleted album, where they remain for the number of days shown, and then are deleted. You can recover the items before that period of time (see the next task). If you have iCloud Photo Library turned on, the photos may remain in iCloud up to 40 days and then are removed from all your devices that use iCloud Photo Library. If you’re not using iCloud Photo Library, your deleted photos are removed from your Mac only.
Restore recently deleted items
Deleted items remain in the Recently Deleted album for the number of days shown, and then are deleted permanently. You can view recently deleted items and restore them back into your Photos library.
Choose File > Show Recently Deleted.
Select the photos you want to restore.
Click Recover.
To delete recently deleted items immediately, select the items, then click Delete.
If you use Time Machine to back up your computer, you may be able to recover items after they are deleted permanently from your Mac or iCloud.
For more information on using Time Machine, see Restore a Photos library from a Time Machine backup.
Hope that helps,
- Judy -
My HP lap top downloads all my music to the windows media player, my itunes, as well as HP connected. Is this taking up 3 times the space on my computer as it would if it only just used one? I only want music on my itunes, but it puts it in all 3.
when I go to the youtube, the WMP pauses the music by itself, and when I close the youtube, the WMP resumes the music byt itself!

On my MacBook Pro with Retina Display 15", that I purchased a few weeks ago, started coming up with the following message on my desktop:
"USB Devices Disabled Unplug the device using too much power to re-enable USB devices".
I unplugged the device and the message still keeps coming up.
This is what I have done so far to troubleshoot:
I shut down the laptop. When booting up I pressed the command+option+p+r at the same time. It comes up with a menu to reinstall OSX, Get help online, Run Disk Utility, etc. I choose the disk utility and repair the disk and then restarted.
The message keeps popping up and I can't seem to get rid of it. Why does the message keep popping up even though I don't have any devices hooked up to the laptop at all? Any help to reenable my usb ports and get rid of the messaage would be helpful.I talked to Apple Support and we at least stopped the bleeding, a little bit. These are the troubleshooting steps I did before I contacted Apple Support:
1. Reinstalled OSX
2. Restore the last known good Time Machine Backup.
This did not fix my issue, so I called Apple Support and they told me this:
1. Turn Power off.
2. Wait 15 seconds.
3. Plug in Magsafe adapter.
4. Wait 15 seconds.
5. Hold down the Shift+Option+Power Button for 20-30 seconds.
6. Turn Power back on.
Ok, this stopped the bleeding a little, but as soon as I plugged in a Apple USB Superdrive
and a Apple Mini Displayport to VGA Adapter. This "USB Devices Disabled" pop-up pops up like every 30 minutes now. At least, it is not constantly popping up after I close it, so I guess it will do for the temporary. Going to contact Apple support, later, though to see what else can be done. -

Why does the color and or tone of my image change?
Why does the color and or tone of my image change after working in LR for a couple of hours? I open LR and everything looks fine - work for a couple of hours on the same shoot - but then the pictures start to look flat or greenish cast as time goes by. All the files get flat and the greenish cast after a couple of hours - the ones already worked on and the newer ones I'm pulling up to work on. RAW files downloaded from a Canon 30D. Also exporting to PSCS2 as PROPhoto results in a flat image. I switched back to export AdobeRGB.
Hola - thanks for the reply - yep - closing and then opening LR helps - but can't do that all the time after processing 3 or 4 files.
One reply was a corrupt monitor color profile - So I deleted that one and loaded a new adobeRGB profile. That helped a little also for a while - I then reloaded my monitor drivers and refreshed them - that help for a day - the greenish cast is back It works fine on my laptop for now. The same pictures that look greenish in LR look great in Canon DPP. So it probably wasn't the color profile or monitor drivers. My issue started with the small scale previews so I bumped that up. Still have the issue. I finished up a project and now going to uninstall and reinstall LR. Let's see what happens with a fresh install. andy. -
Why does the plug in stop working sometimes
Why does the plug in stop working sometimes?
Is your pc. laptop, whatever Windows -ana what version, like Windows Vista, or Windows 10.
What bit is it? 32 or 64?
You can get that info by right clicking on "My Computer" Uusually on the desktop) and selecting Properties in the drop down menu.
And what version of Fire Fox are you using?
And which plugin are you using, and is it for Flash Player?
This info will help someone to answer your question.
