I would expect that it would make an unusual noise if plugged into a generic USB charger that does not have enough oomph to charge a pad to alert you - otherwise, you might think the noise is reassuring that you are actually charging it.
I guess my question was actually more of a comment on the (lack of) design! It is unusual that something like this would still be in an Apple product. There are wall chargers that have a USB port on them that do not have the required oomph to charge the iPad. I have one that has two USB ports, one for my iPhone (it won't charge an iPad), and one for an iPad with greater amperage rating. I accidentally used the wrong ones for a while yesterday, but noticed before being "surprised" the next morning by an uncharged iPad. The iPad is smart enough to say "Not charging" by the battery icon when it is plugges in to one of these, so it "knows" - seems like it would be fairly simply to have the iPad make a different or additional noise wehn it puts up the "Not charging" text icon. Failsafe user experience?

i don't know why...Sometimes it can be something very simple and easy to fix. Before you get into any involved troubleshooting, quit iTunes, restart your Mac, restart your iPad and then try to sync again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If this doesn't work, then try the more involved stuff. -

Do you have gfxCardStatus installed? Is your monitor set to "Integrated" or "Discrete". You want it set to Discrete to drive the external HDMI display.

Are you sure you have a good miniDisplayPort to HDMI cable?
Do you have another HDMI display you can test against (your neighbor's HDMI capable TV).
Do you have friend that can test the cable using their Mac and maybe their TV or a monitor that has HDMI input. -
My iPhone does not have Facetime on it. I've tried going into restrictions, but there's a passcode that doesn't seem to be one that I've used before. Is it possible to reset the phone and then just restore a portion of the old information? I've tried several pass codes and now am locked out for an hour after being locked out for 5 minutes and then 15 minutes. It said that I had tried 7 pass codes prior to these, but I don't remember ever trying to get into restrictions before.

Why does Firefox keep hanging, crashing, sulking, dying when internet connection behaves? Once it renders the page it should forget about the page. Why does it behave when some link is clicked when there is no internet? It should just say internet not available or some crap. Why die, sulk, crash?? I don't get it! 3 series was much much much better!
I should add, I've re-downloaded Firefox, but that doesn't look like it has helped any. Still get seemingly inexplicable crashes.

Close the Mail app in the Task Bar and re-launch.
Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar. Hold Mail app down for a second or two until it wiggle; tap minus sign to close app.
If it still doesn't work, try a reset.
Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple logo. -

When I connect to a VPN-Server (I tried it with different protocols exept the 'Cisco IPsec'-stuff) and the iPad goes into Stand-By, the iPad looses the connection and I manually have to reactivate it in the menu. I am very sure that this is not a problem of the server (tried also different services). Can I fix the bug myself or do I have to wait for an update?Sorry, that's Adobe, not Adoby.

The usual explanation is that it is a licensing issue. It's not Apple refusing to support an MS product (they support loads of others, like QuickLook for Office docs). MS won't let Apple have it. (The Linux-based solutions are third-party reverse engineered.)
That having been said, I've never had a problem plugging an NTFS drive and reading files from it. Why does it take you an hour?
I've never had a problem with a Mac-formatted USB thumb drive not writing either. It's possible that the hardware/software that Apple uses is more sensitive to cheaper thumb drives, but I'm guessing here. -
Why does deleted content reappear on my iPhone when I connect via USB?
I recently upgraded from a 3GS to a 4S, and I'm having an issue that's never been a problem before. I notice that music or video that I delete from my iPhone reappears when I connect to iTunes via USB. Nothing is moved over, either: the videos are just listed as if never removed.
I am deleting this videos by swiping across after viewing on phone. They disappear, so I am not overlooking anything on that front. Similarly, I don't sync video or music -- I have manual management checked in iTunes.
Any ideas what might be happening, and how I can fix it?And almost 2 years later this is still happening - I delete TV Shows and Movies from my iPad 2 (iOS6) or iPhone (iOS6) and as soon as I connect the devices to my mac by USB they reappear (even though my setting is to manually manage everything). This then screws up syncing like this morning where I tried to add 2 new movies - as it was syncing I realised that the previous 2 had reappeared so I wouldn't have space to add them. I deleted them via iTunes and the sync appeared to be successful - until I turned on the iPad on the train to be greeted by a message saying that the 2 items couldn't be synced.

Why does my iPad lose the network I'm on when it goes to sleep?
I Just moved in with someone and I have to manually join the network every time I turn my iPad on. Now all of a sudden, every time my iPad goes to sleep it loses the connection all together. I've already tried resetting the network and also location in the settings. Any other ideas?
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I didn't do the most recent upgrade as I had problems with it when I did the previous one. I have the IPAD WI-FI 32GB . It seems to be charging ok . I did a Sync yesterday and now it won't connect to the Internet although it was working fine last evening and I didn't change any settings.
When I plug it in to my iMac, the iPhoto applicaiton opens and I have to open the iTunes application even though I have it set to open when I connect the iPad.
