Why does the soft keyboard pop up on my screen and how do I stop it?

Older MacBook Pro running Lion.
For reasons I don't understand, when I start typing after not using my MacBook Pro for several minutes, a soft representation of the keyboard pops up on the screen. I kill it and it goes away. But then appears again later.
I switch between the MacBook's keyboard and a USB keyboard -- in case that is related.
How can I get this to stop happening?

After some trial and error (which I could not do over the weekend) it appear that the thing appears the first time I use either keyboard after using the other. Example:
Use the native keyboard, all is ok
Use the USB keyboard, get the popup
Use the USB keyboard again later, all ok
Use the native keyboard next, get the pop up
This is a recent change. I have been using two keyboards like this for years. It didn't even start after my upgrade to Lion. I can't put my finger on what was going on when it started. If I could, I could probably figure out the cause. But I can't.
I just want it to stop.

What apps are open and are you really still only on 10.5.1??????? At the very least please update your profile, also please remember to post more information. I suspect it's something going on with just your user account. You can verify that by creating another user account (call it TEST ACCOUNT) and log into that account and test. Once this has been verified then you will need to check which apps are running to determine what is causing your issue.

You might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on any iOS devices that you have by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store (Settings > Store on iOS 5 and below) and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on them

You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of today, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
          com.something.daemon.plist
and
           com.something.helper.plist
Here something is a variable word, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes the word is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
/Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
          com.something.agent.plist
where the word something is the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
Open this folder:
/Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
           something
where something is the same word you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
Finally, in this folder:
/System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
            v.framework
It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
          Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
          Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked.

Why does the RX3870-T2D512E-OC detect as 3800 series and not 3870?

I am wondering why does my video card detect as a 3800 series and not specifically the HD 3870? I heard this was fixed with a bios update with Sapphire does MSI need to do the same thing with their card?

Has been for all the ATI Catalyst drivers.. what other driver is there? The MSI Drivers are always so far behind so I don't use them of course.

Everytime I click on the down arrow on the firefox button firefox fills my monitor screen. How do I stop this as it did not happen in the past

Had to uninstall and reinstall firefox several times as something was trying to take it over. The only way I stopped it in the end was to go back to a restore point on my computer. Anyway, before I had this problem I had firefox leave a border down the right side of my screen. Now it is okay when I start firefox, border in place, but as soon as I click the down arrow on the firefox button for anything firefox covers the whole screen. How can I stop this?

Try resetting your iPad. To reset press the Home button and the ON/Off button at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (abbot 10 second).

Whenever I click on text on a web page the typing cursor pops up like I can type something into the page, but when I press a key nothing happens. I just got a Vision M player and was disappointed to find it came with the older version of Mediasource, I recently purchased and returned a Zen V 2 gb. player that came with version 5 software. I'm confused why the M only gets version 3.30.35 . I removed version 5 before I loaded the M software thinking I should to avoid conflict. Has anyone had any problems using version 5 with the new Vision M ? I should have copied the disc before I returned it,oh well. I've tried to update using the autoupdate with no luck I keep getting an error at 33% then windows asks to send and error report or de-bug. Zen Vision M was released earlier than Zen V. As such, it has the older version of MediaSource in the product CD.

I have noticed that if I attempt to add an LDAP entry which has the same DN as an existing entry, then the default Provisioning workflow SILENTLY converts this add to a modify.
template: cn=$fullname$,ou=people,dc=company1,dc=com
so if 2 different persons with same first and lastnames are entered into IdM first one gets added Ok but then gets hijacked by the second 'addition'.
ok. I understand that I have to cater for this eventuality, but isnt the whole point of using an intelligent system like IdM to trap these events automatically.
I would rather see an error message like "error code 68: object already exists" on the screen after screen entry + save than end up with 2 different Idm entities pointing to the same LDAP entry!!
Is it possible to set a switch (waveset property?) allowing/denying the convert add to modify when the target already exists?
Must I have to either rewrite the provisioning workflow or plug in some fullname validation on the form?

It does not matter what you intend to do or not: the identity template is there to tell IDM how the resource account should be identified. The software has no "knowledge" of your intentions. It uses the configuration you gave it to create the account you are requesting. If that should not happen in all cases then you will have to handle that.
The fact that you provision to the resource also shows that you do not see the resource as the authoritive source of data.
IDM does not assume or preempt that the account already exists on the resource. If it finds that the account already exists when it checks the resource it has to follow what you have configured it to do. In this case that is create the account you wanted it to create. To make sure that the account contains the information you want it to contain it will modify/add the values which are missing and or different.
The fact that the resource account is already there is not an error situation and will never be one. It is considered as being a normal case with a normal solution: IDM takes hold of the account. If it would be an error case there would be no need for reconciliation or active sync. You can even go a step further and state that the account on LDAP should not have existed if you try to create the user this way, reconcile or active sync should take care of these kinds of accounts.
For the sharing part: IDM understands that resources can contain shared accounts, it even has a state for them in the reconciliation. But when you create an user in IDM and assign resources the accounts on the resources automatically belong to the user in IDM. This has to be enforced otherwise there would never be a guarantee that an user whom has a resource assigned also really has the account.
If you want IDM to fail in situations like this then you have to code that yourself and customise the workflow or forms used for the provisioning process. By doing that you will create a huge amount of manual intervention to create the accounts in a later stage unless you can make the work flow smart enough to cycle through a number of possible resource account Id values if the account already exists on the resource.
This will almost certainly also kill any possibilities to run a reconcile against that resource because you can not catch this in correlation rules or confirmation rules.
Then a user form does not go out and see if the account already exists. The form provides logic and a display template for information. The provisioner and the userviewer will do al the processing.
If you really want to leave the existing account alone then there are two options you can set as form properties, only one can be used at anytime:

"InteractiveLinking"

If you specify "NoLinking" the provisioning will go ahead and the user will get accounts on all resources where there were no conflicts, no intercation possible.
If you specify "InteractiveLinking" your checkin of the userview will fail and you will be returned to the GUI. At that point you will have to fix the issues that were found before any provisioning will take place. This requires custom forms and all handling needs to be done by the user. Have a look for DiscoveredAccountFields in the libraries
This was build into the product after a push from one customer and has never been documented outside of one release note. It will become part of the standard docs from version 7 onwards. However it is still considered as a bad solution but if you want it you can use it.
