  • Why does windows media player cut off after 4 minutes?

I use safari and like to listen to some radio from the internet that uses windows media player on my G5. I updated the media player recently and now it quits after four minutes no matter what media is playing. I do not have windows media on my other machine and VLC opens automatically whenever I click on a stream in my browser... and it never quits or has any problems and is remarkably faster than the windows player. How do I change the settings in Safari so that it will use VLC to automatically open any of those media files instead of media player??
I did download Flip4mac but it does not seem to be helping!!
    thanks

  • Why does windows media player 11 plug in never appear in firefox after I install it, I am trying to play a video that says I have this plug in missing.

I sometimes get a blank video player frame saying I need a plug in. FF plug in finder tells me I must manually install Windows Media Player 11. I have done this many times but the plug in never appears in FF.

  • HT1567 why does Windows Media Player read and play a CD-R but iTunes won't?

I created a CD-R using a Windows laptop running Vista.  When I attempt to import that CD-R into iTunes, it will not correctly recognize it as an audio CD.  Yet Windows Media Player handles it properly.  What is the problem?

It is hard to know, except that CD-Rs are finicky.
However, if WMP can handle, rip it in WMP and then add the files to your iTunes library using the command File > Add Folder to LIbrary.
Make sure that your WMP Rip Settings are for MP3, not for WMA.

  • Have Window Media Player 11, but with Firefox as browser radio station does not come on

Have Windows Media Player 11, but the Firefox browser does not allow the radio station to come on. Previously had Internet Explorer as browser which allowed the radio station to come on. What is stopping the station to play now since I changed browsers?

  • Since I updated to firefox 5.0, the windows media player plug in for firefox doesnt work anymore :(

Ok I recently upgraded to firefox 5.0, and then when I went to a website that uses windows media player to watch videos and news reports, it said I needed to download the windows media player plug in for firefox. And yet I had already done that in the past. So it directs me to the plug in for windows media player 11, I download and install and it doesnt work. Website repeats the same message, you need to download plug in. It was working fine with firefox 4.0! I use the OS Windows 7, 64bit. Any help please?

Yes I did, at first it identified it as already there, so it gave the option of repairing it, etc, so I uninstalled the Windows Media Player, then Installed it again, and it still doesn't seem to work! I have the same problem with several other plug ins, in the add ons and plug in section of Mozilla tools, I see that say, "incompatible with firefox 5.0" but as days go by those add-ons, that are built by those other websites seem to be repairing it, but I wanted to know for something as important as windows media player plug in, am I the only one getting this problem? :/

  • Windows Media Player not working in Firefox 7

This pertains to a beta Internet radio page at http://www.radiofreeneptune.com/ with Windows Media Player embedded in the page.
Prior to Forefox 7, browsing the page with Firefox had the correct media player interface appear (black, with blue buttons) as soon as the page loaded. Clicking on Play caused the music to play.
Having updated to Firefox 7, Firefox stops working for about a minute when the page is first accessed (it appears to be buffering a lot of audio). A crude Media Player interface finally appears. Audio starts playing immediately, even though the embedded control has it AutoStart set to false.
FireFox has the Microsoft Windows Media Player for Firefox 1.0.0.8 installed.
Any idea what might be causing this?
    Thanks.
    Jack

Try to remove the old (Npdsplay dll in the plugins list) WMP plugin in case that is used.
The embed for Firefox has autostart="1" not not autostart=false (0) like the object for IE.

  • Despite having the File Associations in both Windows Control Panel and Firefox Options set to Windows Media Player for *.mwv files Firefox tries to open them with Foxit pdf Reader, which bombs out - what now?

Making this entry from my Linux computer which handles the situation correctly. The real situation involves only a Toshiba laptop running Windows XP.

I used this link for tiff http://www.nrl.navy.mil/content.php?P=IMAGES
QT was opening the tiff files. When going into the QT control panel Browser>Mime settings>Images-Still image files I was able to uncheck tiff, which held. I was also able to uncheck all the file types under File Types tab(Images-Still image files) in the QT control panel. However the preference would not hold. Went into Start>Set Program Access and Defaults that also was of no help.
The only way I was able to get QT to release the tiff's from the website I posted was to go into the Folder Options control panel for File Types and change the tif & tiff from QT picture viewer to windows picture and fax viewer.
So not sure why the QT control panel will not respond, there are other file types in the Folder options control panel on this computer other than tiff's that are still associated to QT, but didn't try changing them, perhaps that needs to be done?
Good post I didn't realize this before reading your post, if I come across anything further I'll post back.

  • I have installed Windows Media Player Plug-In for Firefox but the test video doesn't work, how can I solve this problem?

The plu-in is definitely there and installed

Not related to your problem, but you might want to consider upgrading to a more current version of Firefox, unless you have a specific reason for using Firefox 3.0.x. '''<u>The last</u>''' version of the Firefox 3.0.x series ('''''no longer supported or updated, even for security issues''''') was Firefox 3.0.19 which was released on 03/15/2010.

  • Why does my flash player always crash with Firefox?

Flash player always crashes and slows my browsing. Firefox is updated and so is flash player yet never works.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
*check for updates for your graphics drive drivers<br>https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Windows Media Player Bug - Sort Of

To make a long story short, I could not figure out why my external hard drives were thrashing each time I played a video file from one on my external drives. This would last about five or six minutes each time I played a new file. As my computer is setup
to multi-boot, I soon discovered this problem was only happening in Windows 10. Checking it out further, I discovered Windows Media Player is the culprit. As it turns out, Windows Media Player automatically goes out and syncs external drives and
devices whenever the program starts-up. Unfortunately, this happens each and every single time on program start. As I have lots of audio and video files on my drives, it would take a fair bit of time for Windows Media Player to check all my files to see what
needed to be synced. I did find another article about this on another thread:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/4c6edb49-f335-44e1-9339-9d86ae0dea25/windows-media-player-auto-sync-to-external-storage
There is a procedure in there that tells you how to disable the automatic sync, but it did not seem to work for me under Windows 10.
What is needed is an easy way to disable the automatic sync.

I've found a procedure on another forum that works to disable the sync. You either have to remember to stop the service or reboot your computer before the changes can take effect.
Currently, we may still use the workaround to disable sync settings.
Meanwhile, Media player cannot differentiate between a media player and any other portable device so the only viable method I have found to deal with this issue is to disable the auto sync
    entirely.
This will also stop Win7 from auto-syncing images and everything else but you will still be able to manually transfer files to and from your media players and cameras and no important Win7
    function is impaired.
Click Start and then Run... (Or the shortcut is Windows key + R).
    Type "Services.msc" and press Enter.
Scroll down to "Portable Device Enumerator Service".
Double click and change "Startup Type" to "Disabled".
To return your system to normal simply change "Startup Type" back to "Automatic".
