Why doesn't a Wav file import convert to AAC?

Hello,
I tried the "add file to library" and the "import" menu options to add a wav file to itunes. For both methods, I found that although the file gets added to my library, its not in AAC format which is my default import format in my preferences.
I can tell its not in AAC format by the 1400kbps rate which is normal CDA quality and not compressed. Also the file size is huge.
Any ideas on how to import wav files from my hard drive to itunes library on same hard drive?
Thanks for all help.

Once you have added the WAV file to your library, select it. In the upper-right corner of your iTunes window, where it normally says Burn Disk, it should say Convert (or something to that effect).
Clicking the icon will convert the file to the format and bitrate you have set in iTunes preferences.
Once you convert the file, you can delete the WAV file from iTunes if you wish.

  • Why doesn't my .AVi file import into iMovies

I cannot get iMovies to recognise my .AVI files (from my Samsung ST50).
I can download the files from my camera to my hard drive (so the computer recognises them), and I can play them via Quicktime, so I know they work. But I can't import the .AVI files into iMovies. It seems to process the video when I go to 'Import'>'Movies'...- then nothing appears. I just get a 'No Matching Video' message in the event folder.
However my previous camera (an old Pentax Optio S40) produced .AVI's which I can import into iMovies. Are all AVI's not the same? Or is it a setting in my new camera (I'm not too tech savvy!).

    Hi Rocco,
Looks like we missed this post when you first asked. Sorry about that.
What message are you receiving when you try to print? What version of Windows do you have installed?  If you're running Win7, you may be facing this issue: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat-com/kb/createpdf-desktop-printer-windows-7.html

  • Why doesn't my pdf files that are on my iPad show up on my iMac or mac book pro

Why doesn't my pdf files that are on my ipad show up on my imac or macbook?

Have you copied them from your iPad ? If you are using the 'sync collections' setting then that doesn't copy items between devices/computers, all it does is if you move a book/PDF into a collection on one device/computer then if that book/PDF is also on your other device(s)/computer(s) then it will be moved into the same collection on them.
If you connect the iPad to the computer that you sync it to and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases then it should copy them over to your Mac's iTunes (that should copy PDFs and epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks) - in the iBooks app on your Mac you might then need to do File > Move Books From iTunes to move them over to it.

  • Why won't my .wav files show up in a 3rd party sound application after being exported as an omf file

Hi all, I've searched everywhere and can't find an answer, so hopefully someone out there will have mercy and help me!
I have Canon 7D footage (h.264 codec) and H4N Zoom audio (24bit 48khz .wav files) loaded into Premiere Pro CS 5. Editing on a Macbook Pro OS 10.6.8.  I haven't added timecode.
My workflow, which I've done successfully several times in the past, is to sync the footage by creating individual sequences for each take (usually interview takes) and then bring in the audio and video and manually line/sync them up.  I then link the two clips.
I then create a new sequence for my edit and then cut parts of the previously synced clips and then paste them into the sequence and edit away.  After locking I export an omf (48khz, 24 bit, files as separate audio, aiff files, with 24frame handles).  Then I import the OMF into Soundtrack Pro.
However this time, the majority of the sound clips do not show up in Soundtrack Pro timeline even though they are present in the omf folder as Aiff files.  Normally you would think this was an issue with Soundtrack Pro, however one audio file did show up in Soundtrack Pro, but it was a sound file I had not linked to a video clip.  Upon further investigation I found that that the audio clip that was not synced retained it's STE-014.wav name in the Premiere timeline.  All the other audio I had synced to video had somehow taken on the video clip's MVI 0075 name.
I checked my old projects (the ones that I successfully exported to OMF) and even when I synced the audio and video, the audio retained it's STE.wav name. I don't know why the names changed; I did a test in my current project by cutting and pasting a synced clip at the end of the edit timeline and the audio retained it's  STE.wav name.  See pic.
After further tests, if the audio retains it's STE name it shows up in Soundtrack Pro (and Soundbooth as well), if it takes on the video MVI name it doesn't.  I've tried exporting as an AAF and a Final Cut Pro XML file and it still doesn't work.  I've tried unlinking and relinking the clips as well as making the audio offline and then relinking but still nada.  I also cleaned the media cache to no avail.
If I render and replace the audio in the edit timeline, the name doesn't change, but the audio file does show up in Soundtrack Pro and Soundbooth, but unfortunately I need handles to edit the sound so this doesn't help me much.
    Any ideas?  and thanks!

Yes, it has always worked in the past.  The past projects audio clips do not change names.  I obviously did something different in this current project, but unfortunately I have no idea what.

  • Pitch lowers on WAV files imported into Logic.

I'm working on a remix project for a friend, and every time I import a WAV file into Logic, the pitch lowers by about 10 percent. I checked the actual WAV itself by playing it through quicktime and itunes, and it's fine. It's only once I import it into Logic that I have issues. An ideas? ThankS!

    Hi,
guess the imported Files are sampled with 48 kHz, while you are trying to import into a 44.1 kHz Project. Set the project sample rate to 48 kHz or convert the files down to 44.1 before importing

  • Wav. file importing

I'm looking for any information or experience with importing the recordings that you can attach to images from Canon EOS-1s cameras. Aperture does not support these files on import and asks to download these elsewhere out of Aperture. These recordings are then separated from the image as they are not identified with the same rename hierarchy that is given in Aperture. If I performed a recording with every image I shot then I could perform a batch on the WAV. files that coincided with the image names but this is never the case. Is there something I'm missing? I have a very old version of iView that will import and keep the two files as the same name with only the extension being different that way the recording cans always be associated with the image. Is this possible in Aperture? Or do I have to hope for an update in the future. Any suggestions or ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

It doen't warn you, but it's guite easy to change the sample rate of the session or the sample rate of the audio file.

  • Scanner doesn't show in File Import menu in PSE 6

    Hi
    I'm on Mac OS X 10.5.8
I recently upgraded from PSE 4 to PSE 6 and everything is fine. It delivers everything I expected but for one little thing.
Il was using my Epson scanner with PSE 4. The driver used to be listed in the File>Import menu. After installing PSE 6 I uninstalled the Epson driver and installed the updated version. Yet it isn’t listed as it should. Did I miss something?
    TIA

  • Cmus doesn't play .wav files and pulseaudio isn't working properly

The first problem I noticed was that Chromium was using about 90% of my CPU while I wasn't connected to the internet. So I deleted Chromium because I couldn't fix the problem any other way. After deleting Chromium the CPU problem was fixed but after checking htop again I noticed this message with -11 being in red:
I started using cmus and noticed that .wav files aren't playing anymore but I am not sure if that has anything to do with this issue. Cmus played .wav files just fine when I had Chromium however. Also, RAM is steadily increasing at about 700 MB which never happened before. I think maybe the problem with cmus and the RAM increase could be caused by pulseaudio not working properly?
Also, when I run "pulseaudio" in the terminal I get this message in red:
    $ pulseaudio
E: [pulseaudio] pid.c: Daemon already running.
    E: [pulseaudio] main.c: pa_pid_file_create() failed.

I have stopped using cmus and I am currently using moc(Music On Console). I found out that for some reason pulseaudio is taking up alot of RAM.
Here is a picture of what is going on in htop:

  • Audition CS6 doesn't save .wav files.

I don't use Audition often and this is the first time I've used CS6. Likely to be the last as well. After recording a number of voiceovers Audition crashed. Ok, restart, it recovered nicely. Cool. Continued recording four other voiceovers in multitrack. Listened to them, the .wav files are listed in the File browser, opened one in the waveform editor but decided not to edit it then. great... save and quit. Quit successfully, no crash or errors.
Reopen project later... tracks are there but the .wav files are listed as offline. WTF? Search the hard drive, no sign of them. So all work is lost.  Looks like I need to record in a different app. Kind of a bummer as you would think this would be  af'ing core functionality of Audition.

I'm having the same problem. Recorded an hour long VO session with talent from out of town and the client here to direct. Saved. Checked the filepath. All good. Save again, close out. Files are gone.
This is unacceptable. I've seen two other users posts from the past month who are having hte exact same problem. This is not user error.
Okay, animosity aside, I think I may be seeing a pattern here.  Several of those reporting faults have said something similar, i.e. that they got to the end of a recording in multitrack then saved.
In my work flow, I don't need to Save, check the file path then save again.  Audition is recording direct to disk in whatever you've set up as your default file path.  I create a new session title before recording then just have to save the session on exit (have the "Reference all open audio a video files option clicked in Multitrack preferences) and everything is where it should be.  I'm wondering if your "two save" process is somehow saving a blank file over the one already there or something.
Like Steve, it's not a problem I've ever seen (and I use Audition many hours per day and have done so for many years) so I have to think it's something you're doing in your workflow rather than a fault everyone sees.  Of course, if Audition lets you do something like that, it should be fixed to make things safer--but I don't think it's simply failing to save without it being something to do with how you're using it.

  • Why won't my RAW files import into LR4?

    Hello all,
Something very strange is going on with LR4.  I have been using LR since version 1 and never had this happen before.  When I have an SD card filled with jpegs and RAW files from my Fuji X100 camera and try to import all of them into LR 4, ONLY the jpeg files get imported.  None of the RAW files get moved into LR at all.  I have to create a new folder, move all the RAW files so that they are alone, and do a second import.  Why is this?  Why cannot I import all at one time, not even thinking about the difference?
Seems absolutely stupid that my RAW files are being ignored.
Thanks for the help.  Appreciate it.

Sorry, I assumed that you were shooting RAW + jpg.  What I think you are now saying is that you have a shoot in which some of the files were shot in RAW and some in jpg?  In that case, I don't know why it would only import RAW on the first go round and jpgs on the second. When I have mixed files (I shoot only RAW, but panoramas  are by definition only jpgs), they all import on the first try. In fact, even video files come in at the same time.
If you did shot RAW+Jpg then you could either check the box, in which case you will see two files, or uncheck it, in which case you will see one (with the other hidden). But since that's not the case, that check box doesn't apply to you.
Right.  Most of my shots are jpegs.  But on rare occasions, I want a RAW file so I hit the RAW button on the X100 and then shoot RAW for one shot.  This last import I had 10-15 RAW shots and they would not import along with all the jepgs.  This happens everytime I have mixed file formats.  Very frustrating.
    Thanks for trying!

  • Why won't some .gif files import into Adobe Premiere 11?

    Hello! New to Premiere here.
I'm working on a project which involves processing roughly 200 animated .gifs taken from the internet. Many of them will import nicely into Adobe Premiere 11.
The problem is that not all of them will do this. Many of them will give the following message and freeze the entire import process.
This seems like a strange error message to get because
    a) It seems to say here that the .gif format IS supported
    b) There don't seem to be any codecs for this 11.
The gif that produced that error message is below:
What especially frustrates me is that a gif with similar resolution and size will import, but the one above will not. Below is an example of a gif that will import into Adobe Premiere 11:
Is there an explanation for why this is the case? I have looked up this issue extensively on the internet, and every other person with this issue seems either to be stumped or find a solution for a much older version such as Premiere 8.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

I'm happy to announce to you all that my "mp4 importing" issues has been sorted out. Now I import mp4 shot with the same Windows Phone 8 Device into Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Only that for the moment, it doesn't play as fast as with ordinary player.
    But how did I get it to work, you may wonder;
I simply installed Itunes on the system, I also installed an app called media monkey. I can't say which of the apps did the magic but the next time I tried to import mp4 files into Premiere Pro after these installations, it imported seamlessly.
Obviously there's a link between the required codecs and the itunes itself.
You may want to try it and hope it works for you.
Kindly inform us if it works.
    Thank you all.
    Cheers.

  • Why doesn't a 3gp file play on ipad2?

Had a video from an iPhone sent to my email and when I open it I get audio only no video on both my Mac (os) & ipad2. Why no video?

3gp is a av container, not a codec.
It can contain different video codecs.
Apparently, the one used is not natively played by the iPad.
You can download an alternate player(I like avplayerhd) on the iPad and see if you can play it or download it to a computer and convert it.
    I like handbrake for that.

  • Why doesn't Search across files work in web dynpro perspective?

    Hello,
I rely on the Files Tab of the Search popup a lot to search for occurence of text in files.
So far, I've been doing all J2EE development and the Search functionality works great in the J2EE perspective. What I do is select the Development Component (DC) in Package explorer view and then bring up the search box. On there I select File tab and the "selected resource" radio button. I leave the File Name patterns as "*" so it'll search all files.
However, when I try that in the Web Dynpro perspective it doesn't find any hits. I know I can do a search across the whole workspace but that'll return too many hits in other DCs.
Anyone have an idea how to do this in Web Dynpro perspective?

I remember that I once opened an OSS message on this issue. What version has your IDE?

  • Why aren't my NEF files importing into Lightroom 5 anymore?

I have a Nikon D7100 camera that I shoot Raw in.  I've imported these NEF files into Lightroom 5 from my camera on previous occasions, but recently I wanted to import new photos.  The new photos show on Lightroom's import screen but when I click on the import button the software acts like it is beginning the import process but never does, eventually showing a warning box saying the files could not be read.  What is going on and how can I fix it?

    From Marta K Tollerup,
Thanks to all who offered help with my importing problems.  I did find the problem.  I discovered that somehow the destination file was changed so Lightroom didn't know where to import to.  If you have a Mac and your run into this problem this is how I solved it.  Hook up your card reader or camera to your computer and proceed through your usual importing steps except for clicking the Import Button.  Look at the left hand side of your import dialog box (Source area) you should see a cascade of files, one inside another.  It starts with the name of your Hard Drive, then users, then your user name, then Pictures, then a file just called 2014.  This file named 2014 inside the Picture folder is what had been changed on my computer.  Once I choose it again my photos imported without any problems.  Hope this helps anyone else having a sudden problem importing your photos.  For Mac users go into your Finder and look in the Picture Folder.  You will find where Lightroom stores your photos.  I'm assuming PC users have something similar.  It helps to know where your photos are stored because then you can spot an error in the Source area of the import dialog box.
