Why doesn't af:switcher have PartialTrigger attribute?

Hi OTN,
af:switcher is definitely one of the most dynamically changed "layout" component.
And I'm really surprised not to find PartialTrigger attribute for the switcher.
Why doesn't it have the attribute? I need to enclose it into additionaal container like panelStretchLayout and set Partialtrigger - WHAT FOR?
Should I file an ER for this feature?
Thanks.
JDev 11.1.1.4

To further what Timo says - filing an ER for this will not help you. The reason for this is that in order for a component to have a partialTrigger, it must be rendered on the client side; you may have seen this when you try to use partial triggers on a component with rendered=false - it cannot work because of the way PPR works. The tag docs for af:switcher say, in fact (as Timo says):
The switcher is a purely logical server-side component. It does not generate any content itself and has no client-side representation (no client component). Hence switching which facet of the switcher renders requires a server round-trip.which does imply, albeit indirectly, that PPR wouldn't work. As Timo says, you would need to PPR a parent component of af:switcher.
If you wanted to file an SR with Oracle, my best guess is that this should be a doc bug, and it would be helpful to add some info to the af:switcher document to explain that PPR is not possible.

  • Why doesn't elements 12 have 64 bit support for PC users?

Why doesn't elements 12 have 64 bit support for PC users? Most PC's these days are shipped with far more than 2GB of RAM. This move seems very limiting to those with high demands for RAM. Image sizes are only getting larger meaning more RAM needed for adjustments and editing. I have been putting off buying elements 11 waiting to see if 12 had 64 bit support and I am very disappointed to find it doesn't. I can't see myself buying 12 unless a 64 bit for PC is launched soon.

    Update? It's a major release, ain't it?
Mac got the 64-bit. Why? From Pete Green's announcement:
A handful of features from previous versions are not available in Photoshop Elements 12 due to new product support for 64-bit systems.
But, of course, Windows users have no such need...

Why doesn't acrobat reader have reflow view in iOS as it has in android.

That's a good question. Besides some form enhancements, it is the #1 feature I'd like to see added. It was actually removed from the Android version a while back but was then restored. Someone on the mobile Reader team has mentioned that they will consider adding it to Reader for iOS if there is enough demand, so consider submitting a feature request. I think I'll take my own advice...

  • Why doesn't U-verse have out of state local channels?

Dish Network has out of state local channels. Why doesn't U-verse have out of state local channels?

    That Don Guy wrote:
I can think of a couple of reasons.
First, if U-Verse had to carry every channel everywhere - even if it was just limited to its service areas (so, for example, there would be no local channels from Seattle available) - imagine how many channels that would require.
Second, and probably the real reason, is something called "broadcast exclusivity."  The short version is, each network affiliate has an area over which it is supposed to be the only station that shows a network's programs - for example, viewers in Los Angeles should be able to get ABC shows only on KABC.  This makes sure that people in that area will watch that station - and, more importantly for the station, its local commercials.  I am under the impression that there is a similar rule involving syndicated programming - for example, two different stations in the same area can't show Wheel of Fortune or repeats of Modern Family.  (For some reason, I have seen this implemented differently on different systems; for example, when I lived near Travis Air Force Base, about halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento, I got both cities' stations for all four major networks on Xfinity.)  This would be almost impossible to enforce if every household got every channel, as it has to be handled on a city-by-city basis.
There's also the problem of time zones - I don't think network affiliates in the Pacific time zone would like it if people could watch the network's Eastern or Central time zone affiliates and see the shows three hours earlier.
And I haven't even mentioned sports exclusivity yet.  Remember, the NFL has a rule where the city hosting a Sunday afternoon game cannot show any other game on TV at the same time (there used to be exceptions when the game was blacked out, but the NFL has gotten rid of its blackout rule for the 2015 season).  I seriously doubt the NFL would allow U-Verse to get around this by letting every U-Verse subscriber watch their choice of evert CBS and Fox station.
That reminds me of a particular situation from 2001-2002 that I was in:
My local FOX affilliate used to show Simpsons repeats at 5 and 5:30. There is a channel out of Cleveland that was available on Time Warner Columbus (later Mid-Ohio) that would also show Simpsons repeats at 6 and 6:30. Well, about 3-4 counties east of Columbus, it was the same TW lineup as in Columbus (with an exception to have two NBC affiliates, Columbus and a nearby city), but they had the full two hours of Simpsons. Travel to Columbus and you only got the first hour.
The odd thing? That second hour started more like 5:58 PM and the blackout infomercials didn't come on until 6...just enough time for me to tell what episode it was.
And since the episodes were all basically picked by the local station, sometimes there was a case of "We just saw that episode a few days ago!"
The Cleveland station would sometimes dig a little "deeper" into the archives which was nice.

  • Why doesn't the iPad have a guest screen like the PC for extra security?

I just want to start off first by saying I just purchased my iPad about six months ago and I'm really enjoying it,but if you're like me,I believe in protecting my privacy.
I don't like to turn down any of friends or coworkers when I'm asked to use my iPad,but when you have such things as your personal pictures, movies, music, business documents,etc...you'd like to keep them from prying eyes. I thought that with the new iOS 7 update, that issue would've been fixed, but I was wrong. I'm hoping Apple would correct this problem with the next iOS update,it would make a lot of loyal Apple consumers & anyone who's new to purchasing the iPad for the first time very happy to know that feature is available.
Why doesn't the iPad offer a guest screen?

  • Why doesn't apple tv have visualiser?

Seems a really odd flaw that apple tv doesn't have the visualiser? full hd , great tv, but no min blowing graphics package.
    Cant ATV process this?

I'm sure AppleTV could run some kind of visualiser, as some of my older low powered PCs used to manage a reasonable itunes visualiser.
Modern visualisations at decent frame rates might be too taxing however.
Frankly it's all speculation, and it may be it would struggle with modern visualiser code, and they just don't want to go down the route of why can iTunes do this but AppleTV can only do that.
Perhaps they can't be bothered or see it as a computer feature not for the lowly AppleTV.
