Why doesn't iPhoto automatically open Mac Mail?

I'm hating iPhoto at the moment.  I use Mac Mail so that I can keep track of sent mail.  iPhoto doesn't do this.  For example, I just discovered that  a dead email account was still on the list in iPhoto preferences, so I'm not sure if the email I just sent went using my current or my old address.  I naturally went to Mac Mail to check my sent list, but there is no indication that I sent an email to anyone.
I also do not like typing the email  within a browser window.  I would much prefer it when I click "share" that Mac Mail would automatically open.
I really, really wish Apple would solve this problem.

Go to iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete the mail account that's there.  Then add it back and try Mail again.

  • I've stuck with Entourage way too long. Now I don't dare install the Mavericks OS because all my Entourage files will go away. And my iMac won't open Mac Mail (probably because I've never opened it in the 5 - 6 years I've owned the Mac.) Any suggestions?

If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.

  • How do you have a file automatically open in mail, like a Constant Contact email?

How do you have a file automatically open in mail, like a Constant Contact email?
    Thanks,

If there is a way to automatically open an attached file in a Mail item, it is not one that I would use, because I want to stay in control of my Mac!  Who is it from, whats in it and so on... To me bad idea but then the choice is yours.

On the iPhone, when the server rejects the email address and it sits in the outbox, why doesn't it automatically resend when the server is fixed?

    Hi Razmee,
    Thanks for your response.
The mail server worked when I originally set it up and continued to work for months afterwards.
What would make the outgoing mail server not be set up correctly after all that time?
    Thanks again.

  • Why cannot I not see my mac mail folders?

Why can I not see my mac mail folders on my iPad?

I also use MobileMe and yes it uses IMAP by default.
Okay, it's simple than. The folders you've created are local folders which are not stored on the server.
In order to change that open Mail.app select Mailbox->New Mailbox and make sure you choose MobileMe at Location.
Now drag&drop your "On my Mac" mails into that new "MobileMe" folder. After a few min. they should be synced.

  • IPhoto Automatically Opens

Every time I log on, IPhoto automatically opens, taking a lot of time. I have checked Preferences under IPhoto and General and can't find out why this is happening. Is there another place to look?

Launch "Image Capture" application. Image Capture can be found in your computer's Applications folder.
Go to the 'Devices' pulldown menu and select the device that is there (iPhone or any other device can be connected and listed there). Now, go to the Image Capture pulldown menu and select Preferences. In the General tab, change "When a XXX is connected, open" to "No application" (instead of iPhoto). Click OK, then quit Image Capture.
I had the same behavior with my iPhone and solve it that way.

  • PDF attachment doesn't  show in opened e-mail to open it.  Adobe reader is installed on my iPad.

PDF attachment doesn't show in opened e-mail to open it. I do have adobe installed. Any suggestions?

You don't need any third party app at all in order to view a supported file in the mail app. It should be viewable even without Adobe Reader.
You do see a paper clip icon to indicate that there is an attachment but you don't see the opened PDF or the PDF icon in the body of the email? Did you swipe all the way down to the bottom of the screen? Is this just happening in one email or does it happen everywhere in the mail app?
Quit the mail app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the mail app icon. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Launch mail again and see if the PDF opens or appears. If it doesn't, close mail again and restart the iPad and then try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

You should post in the Mail forum area of whichever os is installed on your computer.

  • Why is iPhoto automatically opening every time I plug in my phone?

Every time I plug my iPhone into my Macbook it automatically opens up iPhoto whether or not I have new photos to import, which I usually don't. It's really annoying. My husband has the same phone and his doesn't do this. Is there some way to stop it?

he iPhone includes a single Camera Roll where all photos captured by the iPhone are stored. If you save a photo from a received message or from a website, the photo is stored in the Camera Roll.
If there are photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll - even if some of the photos were previously imported by iPhoto but not deleted from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete, iPhoto will launch automatically when your iPhone is connected if you have iPhoto set to do this when any digital camera is connected.
Depending on which iPhoto version you have, iPhoto includes a preference setting for this. If you have an earlier iPhoto version that doesn't include this preference setting, the same is available via Image Capture preferences with the Image Capture application. Connecting camera opens - select No Application.

  • Why doesn't iphoto open?

    why doesn't my iPhoto open?

Couple of possibilities: it's broken or you're doing it wrong.
Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • Why doesn't iphoto open in time machine

I am having trouble with my iMac and need to take it to an apple store to be checked out.  Before I do that, I want to make sure that iPhoto and all my photos are backed up in Time Machine.  However, when I'm in Time Machine I can't click on iPhoto to open it it {down the left hand side}.  If I go to iPhoto in applications, it just open up a little box that says iPhoto and doesn't show my pictures.
How do I know for sure that my pictures are backed up on Time Machine?
    Thanks!!!

That is NOT how Time Machine was designed to be used.  Time machine backs up your files in a proprietary format that is enabled to be reloaded into the main OSX OS if you need to go back to a previous version of a file. Time Machine is NOT designed for you to be able to open Apps such as iPhoto from WITHIN the Time Machine app.
    Hope this helps
