Why doesn't markup in Mail app work on screen captures or pasted images?

When in Mail app, If i right click and choose Capture selection from Screen I can take a screenshot which is inserted into the email. The markup icon in the top right of the image never appears. This is also true for images I copy and paste into the email. It seems to me that being able to markup a screen capture is one of the most important use cases for this type of feature.

When I right click and choose Capture selection. The image it places in the email will not show up on the recipients side. However if I use the Grab shortcuts on my Mac to take a screenshot then drag them in off the Desktop they not only show up on the recipients side, but Markup seems to work on them as well.

You can find the Grab app in Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities
Or you can use the keyboard shortcuts to take a screenshot. They will place them on your desktop.
For a selection - ( Command ) ( Shift ) ( 4 )
To select a whole window - ( Command ) ( Shift ) ( 4 ) > ( Spacebar ) > Click Window you want
For whole display - ( Command ) ( Shift ) ( 3 )

Why doesn't my incoming mail sound work

I am using Mail 3.3 and in the preferences I have a "new mail" sound .wav file in the general tab
and the box is checked for the "play sounds for other mail actions". The "other mail actions" sounds are working, and when I recheck the .wav sound it plays fine in the sample mode. However, the sound doesn't play in regular receive mail mode. Anybody have a suggestion?

This problem has been had since Tiger came out, there are so many posts about this, the one above is 5 pages long.

I have asked here several times and on other forums and also reported to Apple, I have tried so many different ways to fix the problem including full format erase and new install, but all to no avail.
Thunderbird works perfectly and will play any sound format, why not Apple Mail.
I first thought Leopard would fix this, then the 10.5.5, but no.
So disappointing.

HT4528 Why doesn't my internet and apps work when I'm in my wifi?

So this has happened to me once before but kinda just started working and now it's doing it to me again. When I'm in wifi nothing on my phone will work except texting and phone calls. I can not use the internet or any of my apps, even when I went into check for a software update I had to shut my wifi off to make it work. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it or what did you do??

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

Everytime I try to order something online, the order is immediately cancelled. I called customer service today, and they told me that they had no idea why it wasn't working. Yet, they did not do anything at all to help... Please fix your website before you lose another customer.

Why doesn't Skype Click-to-call work on Windows 8.1?

Why doesn't Skype click-to-call work anymore? I upgraded to Windows 8.1, and now when I click on a highlighted phone number it asks "Which app should I use" or some such microsoft text. But no application is listed. Apparently it does not work from within Firefox (I have the latest version). And I can no longer find a Skype Click to Call application or extension in Firefox. Do I need to use another browser or is there a fix for this?

I currently have skype click to call installed with firefox and windows 8.1 up to date. I would advise you to re-install skype and its click to call addon and see where it gets you

Unread mail count doesn't show in mail app?

Since the Ios 5 and 5.0.1 the count of my unread emails doesn't show/appear anymore in the mail app on the iPhone? pls help

I am experiencing the same thing. It was working and showing the exact count as my OS X Lion Mail. However, since the 5.0.1 update, it no longer shows anything or even provides push notifications.

I recently deleted the httpmail plugin from Mail.app on my MBP in anticipation of an upgrade to Leopard. I have Tiger and Mail 2.0 sending and receiving Hotmail (Qwest w/ MSN Premium subscriber), however, when I start Mail.app, it says the pop3.live.com server doesn't have a root certificate. I continue anyway and all works well. It's very annoying having to do this each time I start Mail.app though.
I have tried Option-dragging the certificate to the desktop, double-clicking it and saving it to the x.509 anchors list. However, the certificate remains with a blue border and is still shown as signed by an untrusted authority.
Anyone know how or where one can get a root certificate from the pop3 server at Hotmail?

Just thought I'd report that upgrading to Leopard solved my Hotmail connection problem. Leopard includes a feature whereby one can "trust" whatever certificate Hotmail (technically Windows Live) sends, even if it's not a root certificate. When Mail indicates the pop3.live.com certificate can't be verified (and that no root certificate exists), just click on "Show Certificate" and mark the "trust" menu item as "Always trust". My (MSN Premium) Hotmail account now works flawlessly with no need for the httpMail plugin.

Why doesn't mail I have sent from a MacBook show u in the Sent folder of my iCloud account on my iPhone ? There isn't anything in the Sent folder on the phone. Aren't they supposed to sync?

Does your MacBook have "Store sent messages on the server" set in your iCloud account? It should, if you want the iPhone to be able to see messages sent from the MacBook.

I can connect fine to my work wifi but only the mail app is working - googlemail account. Safari cannot find server and all other apps requiring wifi do not work.
All of the apps work fine when connecting to my home wifi so nothing wrong with the ipod.
Confused. Do different apps use different wifi settings?
Any help would be much appeciated!!

There might be a filter or firewall at work preventing access to internet. Check with your network administrator.

A problem has occured with my mac mail. I can recieve mail but how come I cannot send mail to anyone? It says there's something wrong with the server. But I haven't been able to send mail using this app since the day I got my macbook. So if you can please help me out. Thanks

You don't need .Mac for mail to work. You do if you're using a .Mac account. You can use your own IPS's mail and that's what I assumed you were using. However if .Mac is the service you're using you need to open Mail and select Preferences from the Menu at the top of the screen.
Once there you need to enter a description (what you want to call the account) name, email address, etc. under the Accounts. Then you need these settings
Mail Server: mail.mac.com
Username: (whatever you've agreed on as an email address)
Password: (again whatever you've selected for this account)
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mac.com:(your username)
I have a .Mac account but I've never had a free trial version. But if it's receiving mail then it's the SMTP part that needs the correct information entered. That's the server than sends outgoing mail.....out.

Why doesn't my e-mail sync?

I've noticed just lately that the e-mail I send from my I-Phone 4 does not show up in the Mail Program on my macbook. I do not use the cloud, and I have I-Tunes set to sync with my computer. I have a gmail account.

An Exchange or IMAP account is required for keeping server stored mailboxes synced with the server with email client used to access the account.
A Gmail account can be accessed as an IMAP account with the Mail.app on your Mac and with the iPhone's Mail app. This along with storing the account's Sent mailbox on the server with each email client is required for this.
Email account mailboxes and messages are not included with the iTunes sync process.

Starting in iOS 5, the Contacts app is inside the Utilities folder. Click and hold the app for a couple of seconds to move it out of the folder and onto a home screen.
