Why doesn't mozilla open certain windows?

Hello Anonyme.
You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

  • Why doesn't Mozilla fix the Yahoo problem - it is a hacking issue?

Dozens of people have strongly complained about Yahoo inserting itself in Firefox and hiding itself so it cannot be removed. This has been going on for at least a month.
Why doesn't Mozilla do something to prevent Yahoo from HACKING into Firefox.? It is an obvious attempt to pre-empt people's browser of choice. Surely there is someone in the Mozilla group who can either alter the code to block Yahoo or at least come up with a solution that lets the average user remove the stupid Yahoo software.
    Thanks

What a pathetic joke - the instructions to remove the unwanted Yahoo search engine tell you to open up the search engine list and remove Yahoo. BUT YAHOO IS NOT DISPLAYED IT IS HIDDEN AND CANNOT BE REMOVED.
That horrible fact is what is so annoying. It is willfully hidden by either Mozilla or Yahoo forcing it down the throats of people who do not want it!!
And a search on one's entire system does not turn up any reference to Yahoo.
ONE MORE TIME, THIS IS MY COMPUTER NOT MOZILLA'S OR YAHOO'S.
Please do what you know perfectly well is the right thing to do and provide a viable method for users to get rid of Yahoo.
Why, Alice, can't you specifically answer my questions instead of spouting the drivel about providing features for a broad range of customers. There are hundreds if not thousands of user that are not happy about this stupid problem.

  • Why does Firefox keep opening new Windows rather than a new Tab in the current window?

I have " Open a new Tab in the current Window" select in Preferences.
Why then does this version (Version 4) keep opening new Windows, rather than new Tabs in the current Window.
This feature worked fine in 3.6.1.3, but in Version 4, it is a frigging pain in the rigging!
C'mon, Mozilla - time for an URGENT update ...

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Why doesn't iphoto open?

    why doesn't my iPhoto open?

Couple of possibilities: it's broken or you're doing it wrong.
Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • After 5 Releases, Why Doesn't Mozilla Care About Memory Leaks?

I'm baffled as to why this is still a problem. After a few hours of use, my memory usage while using Firefox 5.0 is at 1.5GB. I've followed every FAQ, disabled every extension, done everything to stop the memory leaks when using this browser and I'm growing very tired.
I have a Core i7 MacBook Pro with 4GB RAM and Firefox still manages to bring it to it knees. I've been a devoted Firefox user since 2002-3 and I've just about lost my faith in this browser.
Chrome is a featureless, ugly, dinky browser that I hate to use, but it leaves Firefox in its dust performance-wise. Where is the happy medium? I don't get it.
My favorite answer is always, "disable your extensions." Here are the problems with that:
    1. Without extensions, Firefox is nothing. I might as well use Chrome.
    2. It never seems to help, and when it does a little, it is difficult to figure out which extensions are doing the most damage. Why doesn't Firefox provide a way to look at which extensions are using the most memory?
    3. Firefox should lay that smack down on extensions that could potentially leak memory, and yet, nothing. It should at least steal memory back when it gets out of control, regardless of what extension is using it.
    4. Mozilla recommends some extensions that are supposed to help reduce memory usage, but none of them work on OS X.
I'm exhausted. I shouldn't have to restart my browser a million times day to get anything done. Where are the real solutions? How do years go by with problems like this still getting worse? Firefox 5 was supposed to be better at handling memory, but it's only gotten worse for me.
When will the madness end? We don't want new features, we want performance! I've always loved this browser, but is it really a surprise that Chrome is taking over?
To sum it up, if your browser is slower than Internet Explorer, you need to hurry up and fix the problem or pack it up and go home.

My sentiments exactly!! I have all the exact same complaints and concerns, and I've also tried the solutions provided at no avail.
This the only beef I have with FireFox, but it's a bad one and I've been shopping around for a better browser. Chrome is the best alternative I've found, but it still isn't quite at parity yet.
Please fix this issue or at least make an attempt at it to let your users know it's somewhat of a future priority.
Attached a screen shot of memory usage after 1 hour, and this is the new FF 5 update.

  • Why does Firefox not open my windows and tabs from last time until I have tried starting 3 or 4 times?

I have this problem with opening Firefox:
My Startup options are set to "When Firefox starts: Show my windows and tabs from last time"
However, each time I start Firefox, by clicking the icon in the Taskbar, it opens with a single blank tab.
I repeat this using "Open New Window" and when I have up to 3 windows, all with single blank tabs open, I close them all. Once more I use "Open New Window" which only then opens with my windows and tabs from last time.
Naturally, this induces initial panic each time, because I dread the thought of losing all my current tabs.
    What is going on here?
    How can I fix it?
    < Firefox 27.0.1 with Windows 7 Home Premium.>

This started happening to me with the upgrade to v30. Previously, new windows did the proper thing of showing previous tabs/windows.
I have history on, not in private mode, and have cleared cache.

  • Firefox gui element capture plug in keeps causing Firefox to crash and it won't open certain windows. Any idea why?

I disabled extensions per Firefox instructions and discovered that 'firefox gui element capture plug in 1.0' is the one causing my problems. Problems being Firefox either crashes or refuses to open an additional window, and then crashes.

I am not sure why this started happening, however please update to version 32.0.3 when its available.
The places we can troubleshoot is in the Applications menu under preferences.

If you set it to pdf.js viewer as default does it not show up?

  • Why "DOESN'T" Firefox open a new Application in a "NEW TAB" Like it used to?

I want a new tab ope for each app. I am using so I can just click on the tab, and continue to work on that app. I "Don't" want to use the "History" and then wait for it to "Reload" that tab!! I want my tabs all open until I close them. Also, why isn't there an"X" in the current tba to be able to close it??

The setting in Tools > Options > Tabs: "New pages should be opened in": "a new tab/window" is for links that specify a target window to open the link.<br />
That option allows you to divert such links to a new tab or to the current tab.<br />
For other links use a middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the link or use the right-click context menu.<br />
Left-click a JavaScript link to avoid getting a blank tab.

  • Why does a CD open in Windows and not in my Mac, when in Parallels?

I might not have the correct forum here but you may be able to help. Every time I put an audio CD into my computer when I have windows open in Parallels, the CD only opens in the virtual windows. Why can't I access the CD in Finder and can I change this?
    Many Thanks
    Andy

    Hi
I don't use Parallels, but a similar thing happens with Virtual Box. The virtual machine grabs hold of the CD and it disappears from Mac OS X. Most of the time it's what I want, but I guess if I'm playing a CD in OS X and then start up a virtual machine it could be annoying.
In Virtual Box, there's an option to turn this off so that the virtual machine doesn't see the CD - maybe if you hunt around in Parallels you'll find a similar option.

  • Why doesn't the download popup window do what I tell it to?

In most cases when I download files, I want the popup window to ask me how to handle them - and it does. However, I have a subscription to the NYTimes crossword puzzles. For this type of file only, when I click on a file I want to open it immediately.
The popup window knows how to open these files: it says
You have chosen to open ....
What should Firefox do with this file?
    Open with _Across Lite_
    Save File
Do this automatically for files like this from now on (This option is checked, but I get the popup window anyway. Does automatically mean something different for you than it does for me?)

The server could be sending the ''Content-Disposition: attachment'' header. Install the InlineDisposition add-on and see if makes a difference.
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/inlinedisposition/
If that doesn't help, the server could be sending the ''Content-Type: application/octet-stream'' header.
    # What is the file extension for the crossword puzzles that you download?
    # Click the ≡ Menu Button and choose Developer, then Web Console (or press Ctrl+Shift+K).
    # Load the web page with the file download link.
    # Click the Clear button in the Web Console.
    # Click the download link.
    # In the Web Console, click the file request in question to examine it. In the little window that pops up, in the Response Headers section, what is the Content-Type header? It would be helpful if you'd [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?|provide a screenshot]].

  • Why doesn't Firefox recognize the Windows Live Mail login page as such and offer to remember the password?

For most other sites' login pages, Firefox recognizes that they are login pages and offers to remember my password. For the Windows Live Mail login page it does not.

That log in page is created via JavaScript and the Password Manager doesn't work in that case.
You can see that if you inspect the page source.

  • Why can't I open a window from the dock when Firefox is running?

When I start Firefox, all is well. However, when I close the first window, the Menu Bar items (FILE, EDIT etc. disappear. The word Firefox is still visible as are all the other Mac icons on the right end of the bar.
Clicking on the Firefox icon on the dock while Firefox is running does not open a new window whether in Firefox or in Finder, but clicking on a HTML icon on the desktop will open a new window and go to the site.
The Menu items may or may not appear, but the drop down menus are still active.
I just looks like the Menu headings (FILE EDIT etc) are invisible. I reiterate that Firefox is open and still active (the name is at the left end of the Menu Bar).
I have reinstalled the most recent version of Firefox. Running 10.7.5 Firefox 26.
It is irritating to have to Quit and re-open Firefox every time a want a new window after closing the previous.

  • Why doesn't firefox save my windows and tabs from last time ?

i have gone to tools, options, then under the general tab i set firefox to start up : I set show my windows and tabs from last time.
When i closed firefox and then started it again it didn't work.
What can be done to resolve this issue please?

Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

    * [2] http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js

If you use cleanup software like CCleaner then make sure that Session is unchecked in the settings for the Firefox application.
