Why doesn't my 2015 macbook air connect to any bluetooth devices?

I have recently bought a macbook air, having been out of the apply world for a number of years.  Stupid me, but I just presumed that my up to the minute, expensive  new laptop would connect to my non-mac, not brand new, but only a couple of year's old, bluetooth devices, the main device being my wireless speakers.  Sadly, this is not the case so I am unable to listen to any  music from my iTunes library through my speakers using my 'all singing, all dancing', amazing new macbook.  I am pretty annoyed by this to say the least.  I can't even find any meaningful advice or guidance to tell me if this is a honest to goodness fact, 'no, you can't connect it' or whether it is something that I could rectify via downloading something or even taking it to someone more techy.........so frustrated!!!!!  Please help!!

Manxtree ~ Go to Apple's Knowledge Base HERE and, into the search bar, enter: Mac Bluetooth speakers and then click the Search button. In the resulting list of hits you should see one called "OS X Yosemite: Set up Bluetooth audio devices". Click on it.

  • X230 with windows 7 still won't connect to any bluetooth devices after many attempted solutions

    My starting point:
I have 6 month old x230 with windows 7, all windows and lenovo updates already completed.  The bluetooth logo exists on the bottom of screen but when I try to "add device" it doesn't recognize any bluetooth devices.  I've tried this with speakers from 3 different companies.  I have updated the bluetooth drivers, the windows and lenovo programs say "device is working properly".  Nothing wierd in device manager.  I have  microsoft bluetooth enumerator and thinkpad bluetooth 4.0.  One time for about 30 minutes it worked on a ECOXGEAR bluetooth speaker but then also stopped.
    Since then:
I enabled settings in BT control panel, BT is enabled in BIOS, BT wireless on, have tried to rollback driver to previous versions of BT but not possible, devices still do not show up in Add new device window.
    Latest update:
I have uninstalled the lenovo bluetooth software following a suggestion and now my laptop no longer has bluetooth capacity at all - it seems when uninstallig the lenovo bluetooth sw the microsoft sw uninstalls as well.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Seems BT audio profiles your speakers need are absent in the sw installed on the laptop. Try BlueSoleli or Toshiba BT drivers, both of them might have needed audio profiles. Toshiba stack seems a bit better quality but needs some tweaks for installation.

  • Why won't my new iPhone 6 connect to some bluetooth devices automatically?

I purchased my iPhone 6 (64GB) last month and have been having trouble with it connecting to bluetooth devices ever since. I have to most up-to-date software (8.1.2). I listen to a lot of music and have multiple bluetooth accessories that I use to connect with my phone for playback. Because of this I always leave the iPhone's bluetooth turned on. The main problem I've been experiencing is automatically connecting to devices that have already been paired and saved to the phone's "My Devices" list. I drive a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek and while I had my iPhone 5 (with iOS8) I could hop in the car, turn it on, and since the bluetooth in the phone and car were both already turned on (and had previously been paired) they would automatically connect and I'd be listening to music immediately. Now, with my iPhone 6, that does not happen. I get in my car, turn it on, and with bluetooth turned on in the phone and the car I get no automatic connection. If I go into my phone's settings and manually select my car's bluetooth sometimes it will make a connection. Other times it won't and I actually have to forget the car on my phone and re-pair the two devices. (Once the phone is finally paired the bluetooth connection works perfectly.) This is extremely time consuming and annoying, and most definitely not the way these products are meant to function. I've tried lots of different ways to get around this. I've reset the phone's network settings, and have done a full system restore. At this point I'm not sure what else I could do other than going in and talking to someone at a Genius Bar. Has anyone else had this issue?

  • Not able to connect to any bluetooth device

Hi, With my Xperia C4 I can pair with every device I can find. But when trying to connect to a device. No connecting will get establised.I've tried a car bluetooth device (Toyota Touch and Go), an Ipad and a Xperia P.The Xperia P said the connection was established and then directly disconnected. My car will just say connection failed. Does anybody has a solution to this problem?

In case of my Car a connection to using teh bluetooth connection to answer calls, streaming music and accessing the android contacts and messages on my Car. In the Bluetooth menu, I can see my paired devices. But when I am in range with the device no cennection will be set up between the two devices. When press on the device in the bluetooth menu. in smaller type it says (in Dutch "Verbinding maken" meaning "creating a connection") but then the message will disapear and no message with "connected" will show. And no Calls or music over Bluetooth.

  • 2015 Macbook Air connect internet via 2005 Mac mini's modem?

    2005 PPC G4 Mac mini 1.25 Ghz, 512 MB ram, 40GB HD, FW 400(DHCP)
Tiger OSX 10.4.11, internal Modem (PPP),
    Built in Ethernet.
    No Bluetooth.
    No airport card.
Basic copper wire telephone line connection.
    No ADSL line.
    No local WiFi signals.
    No mobile phone.
I live in the mountains of Asia, and have been connecting to the internet using dial-up daily for the last 9 years with my trusty 2005 PPC G4 Mac mini. Bought new from Apple, and still working perfectly using TenFourFox browser (the valiant PPC port of FireFox 31).
In 2015 I shall force myself to buy a new Mac, and the touted, paraphrased, 12" Retina Mac Air sounds perfect as my "desktop", except for the fly in the ointment; modems have been phased out.
Since my homebase is limited to modem dial-up connection, is there any way I can use my PPC Mac mini to connect the Mac Air to the internet?
I'm not concerned about "speed", just as long as I can get the same decent connection I currently enjoy on the mini.
I'm thinking along the line of using the mini's Ethernet to set up a local network, and then getting a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter cable to connect the two Macs. (Since the Air won't have an Ethernet socket.) There's also the possibility of connecting the mini's 400FW socket to the Air's 800FireWire socket too.
An unusual request; nonetheless, can it be done?
    Thank you for your help.

There may be several possible solutions to a problem like this (speaking generally about a modern Mac without a modem for dial-up).
One could perhaps be to look for a new hardware-based USB 56k modem with confirmed support for the operating system in question.
Another would be to look for an (older) wireless (Wi-Fi) router with Ethernet ports and an internal 56k modem. Depending upon the make and model, connection/security/setup may or may not be OK for a modern Mac operating system. Apple had an AirPort Extreme base station (A1034) model with a built-in modem (http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/0/MA436/en_US/AirPortExtremeBaseStationSet upGuide.pdf).
Sharing an existing connection (Internet sharing) could possibly be another alternative. Connecting a wireless Ethernet bridge (such as WNCE2001 from Netgear or WET610N from Linksys) to the Ethernet port of the old computer may add flexibility. If necessary. more information about Internet sharing can be found through the Apple support site.

  • Why can't my Ipad2 connect with any bluetooth devices?

My Ipad 2 cannot connect to anything. I bought a keyboard that is compatible with the Ipad 2 recently, and when i tried to connect them an error will always occur. My Ipad can see the keyboard so i click on it, and it tells me to put a pin number on it. I type the pin, press enter, and it just says to make sure my device is in range, ready, blah blah blah. So then, i returned that, and bought a more expensive keyboard because i thought it was the keyboard that wasnt working. So i got a new one and still, the same problem. My ipad just cant read the device to connect em together. If you are curious, i currently have the Verbatim Foldable keyboard. PLEASE HELP ME ):
    thank you~

If I were you, I'd take my iPad and the keyboard to the Apple Store (make an appointment at the Genius Bar first).  If they can't get your device paired, you may have a hardware issue.
One thing I would try first is a reboot:  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.  Try pairing once more and if unsuccessful, off the Apple Store you should go......

  • Can the MacBook Air work with any other type of internet connection beside wifi?

Can the MacBook Air work with any other kind of internet connection besides Wifi?

Who? ITS VERY important when doing a restore, in fact you DO NOT want to do a wifi restore
The pros all have that Ethernet adapter,... that should tell you something. An Ethernet restore via that "thing" makes restoring the OSX about 8X faster.
Its called a Gigabit Ethernet adapter for a reason.
"who the heck" is anyone working with their Macbook Air at home and want a MUCH FASTER download / internet connection.
*Stockbrokers who pack their Macbook Air, arrive at work and plug that "hardwired" dongle to their Air........  because even seconds in the stock market can make the difference between losing a million $$, or making a million $$
So now you know WHY,.....before you didnt.

  • My Macbook Air connects to ATV at home but not at work

My Macbook Air connects at home over a Time Machine network to my apple tv just fine (including airplay); when at work on a non-apple wifi network both computer and apple tv connect but cannot see each other.  As I would like to stream video to the work ATV via airplay, this is a problem...  Any ideas?

    Hello Allan Robinson,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning AirPlay:
iOS: Troubleshooting AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4215
    Try the following suggestions:
Ensure that other devices are not trying to stream to the same Apple TV at the same time.
Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is set up with the recommended settings for the best performance.
Certain external devices, such as microwave ovens and baby monitors, may interfere with a Wi-Fi network. Try moving or disabling these devices.
If possible, try to locate your Wi-Fi router in the same room as your iOS device and Apple TV.
If your wireless and wired networks are the same, try connecting your Apple TV to the router via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
If the Wi-Fi router has an external antenna, check to see that is it connected properly and in good condition.
Use the Wi-Fi network troubleshooting guide to resolve interference and other issues.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

    Hi ..
Which OS X is installed on your Mac ?
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac. The version is noted there.
Make sure your Mac OS X software is up to date.
Disconnect the iPad from your Mac.
Open System Preferences > Software Update > Check Now
If any updates are required, make sure to restart your Mac after the updates are installed then connect your iPad and see if iTunes recognizes it under Devices.

  • Why my internal speaker of Macbook Air disappear

Why my internal speaker of Macbook Air disappear ? Now no sound come out and cannot adjust volume button which looks inactive.

did you put your Air to sleep with headphones attached, or closed the monitor with phones attached?
Do not sleep your Air (close the monitor with headphones attached) with headphones attached, this is known to affect some Air under Mavericks.
      * this occurrence is being looked into.
Much testing on my own and others as well show that, in some instances, this occurs in Mavericks.
If you choose you may contact Apple for an appt and diagnostics.
However as said, refrain from having phones attached when you close the monitor to prevent this until it is resolved
    Test this and re-verify
    peace
