  • Why my iphone's iMessage and Facetime can't be activated?

hi, I just bought an iphone4 from the Mississauga apple store two days ago, the iMessage and Facetime can't be activated, so these things are what I tried: (my SIM card matches with my iphone, have a valid carrier, and I paid my bill and have a valid phone number)
    1. I connected my iphone to the wifi, and make sure it works,
    2. created an account on apple store, and make sure it has been logged on,
    3. logged that e-mail account that I used to creat apple account on to my iphone ---> Mail,
    4. go to Settings ---> iMessage, and turned it on, and did whatever it told me to do, then it just saying:"Waiting for activation..." for 2 or 3 hours, and told me that activation failed, and the same thing goes with the Facetime.
I tried with each of them 3 times, none of them are working, so I give up, and asked my friend use to working at the ginues bar in an apple store to help me, so:
He download iTunes onto my PC, connected my iphone to my PC, and logged my apple account onto iTunes, then did the PC and iphone thing which I don't really understand, and redo what I did above, and my iMessage and Facetime still can't work, and use he's iphone to call mine with facetime, use mine to call his with facetime, none of the calls worked.
At the end, we even dialed #*5005*7672# to check the SMS service centre number.
***BTW, I CANNOT even send text messages to my friends, I can only call them.
Is there anything else I can try to make the iMessage and facetime working? Or should I just go to the store and ask for an exchange or refund?
T_T, I just can't believe I can't even send out text messages with the iphone which even the unsmart phones can do.
    Help me, plzzzzzz
    Kate

    Hey Bogdannae,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
You might need to user recovery mode since it is staying at the Apple logo.

  • TS4268 Is there a real fix to get iMessage and FaceTime working with iOS7 on my iPad?  Tried that 8.8.8.8 and time rest thing but they don't.   Everything else works.... Says the network connection is the problem but only for these two programs.

Is there a "real fix" to get iMessage and FaceTime working?  Tried the 8.8.8.8 and time, rest thing.   Passwords and Apple ID are ok.  At log in the message says it's a network connection.
Any ideas?  Is here a fix coming from Apple?

Apps are on my iPad and worked fine with iOS 6. When iOS7 was loaded, I can no longer sign in to these two apps using my Apple ID. These apps are on my phone and work fine.  This problem is on on my iPad.

  • Having Trouble getting IMessage and FaceTime working

I have been having a problem getting onto IMessage and FaceTime since last night was wondering if anyone can help out! Called Apple today and they couldnt figure it out and have tried things on forums from searching on Google!!!
When I try signing in it will tell me that: Could not Sign IN! Please Check your network connection and try again!!! When I have it turned on for using it says Waiting for activation!!!

Same issue, iMessages suddenly stopped working, I wasn't getting ones sent to me, ones I thught I had sent later showed they never were sent. I went to preferences, switched iMesages off, then back on. It said waiting for activation, but never did activate.  I then tried reentering my Apple password but kept getting activation error mesage. Looked at Facetime, it was off, tried to sign in to that, but got same activation error message.
Did a hard restart of phone, seems to be letting me sign in, send iMesages, but I am not getting ones people send me.

  • Why doesn't my Bose Sound Dock work with my iPod Touch?

I have a Bose Sound Dock, purchased about 2006 or 7.  It worked fine with the 5th gen iPod Classic, but will not work with the iPod Touch.  Does anyone know why?
    Thanks!

Very likely because it does not comunicate with iOS devices.  The "dumb" iPods do not use iOS but a very simple OS instead. The first iPod Touch came out in Sept 2007.

  • HT4528 Why doesn't my internet and apps work when I'm in my wifi?

So this has happened to me once before but kinda just started working and now it's doing it to me again. When I'm in wifi nothing on my phone will work except texting and phone calls. I can not use the internet or any of my apps, even when I went into check for a software update I had to shut my wifi off to make it work. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it or what did you do??

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • IMessage and Facetime won't activate phone number

    Hi guys.
    Here's the story.
I had an Unlocked iPhone 4, bought in Brazil and using a brazilian carrier, till recently, and both iMessage and Facetime worked normally, using my apple ID or my phone number.
After I was robbed, I got an iPhone 4S, factory unlocked, bought in the United States, and started using it with my brazilian carrier sim.
I restored my iPhone 4 backup, to maintain all my notes, calendar, photos, etc.
But now I noticed that facetime and imessage are not working with my phone number. They just keep shoping the message "Waiting for activation" or something like that, with my phone status as "Verifying".
I tried removing and re-inserting the sim, rebooting the phone, activating and deactivating imessage and facetime, but they just won't verify my number...
Also, when I check my phone on iTunes, the "Phone Number" field states "N/A". With my former phone the number would show on the iTunes screen.
Can someone help me? I am running on iOS 5.0.1., no jailbreak and using my brazilian Apple ID.
Hope someone can help, I tried several online tutorials, such as the timezone one, or the DNS router, and none worked.
    Regards,

I just activated a new iphone 4s and restored from a backup of my former iphone 3gs - had the same problem - Waiting for Activation on both facetime and imessage. I tried all the usual fixes, reset all, hard reset, turn facetime/imessage on and off, and on and on. 2 hours on phone with tech support to no avail.
I just found the fix on my own - no clue if it will work for everyone. But it's ridiculously easy and worth a shot so you don't waste hours and hours resetting/synching as I did.
All I did was go into settings>phone>my number - erase it by touching the ">". Then re-enter it making sure to input with the "+" and country code. For example in the US: +1(508) 569-9901
No hard reset necessary. I went into settings>facetime and imessage, immediately after inputting my phone number again and the dreaded "waiting for activation" message was gone. I tested sending a message - came thru to the other party fine and facetiming another device (my mom's ipad some distance away) and it rang thru with everything working properly i.e., video/audio.

  • IMessage and FaceTime are waiting activation for two days

Hi, two days ago I changed my ‘self-cut’ sim-card to nano-sim art my carrier office.
For 20 days before that iMessage and Facetime worked perfectly fine with two different carriers, they activated normally.
But after the moment I put new sim-card into iPhone it just quit working. It's always ‘waiting for activation’ on my phone number (works normally with e-mails though).
It's mostly iMessage I'm worried about.
    I've tried:
    1. Turn off iMessage, reset network settings, turn off the phone, turn on the phone, turn on iMessage;
    2. Turn off iMessage, check that ‘My Info’ in Mail, Contacts and Calendars is correct, turn on iMessage;
    3. Reset to the factory settings, after that — I've tried to activate it on ‘clear’ device, same result, so I recovered all my info from the backup.
    4. Went to my carrier office, changed three sim-cards (1 — nano-sim, 2 — micro-sim, which I cut, 3 — nano-sim again), no result.
    5. Put my latest sim-card into other iPhone 5 — no activation in 5 minutes.
    6. Put another sim-card of this carrier into my iPhone — no activation in 5 minutes.
I'm already desperate here, my carrier says ‘you have to ask Apple Support’, Apple Support is on answermachine that says ‘ask your carrier’, I just need my iMessage working normally

Hello, I can understand how frustrating this is.
I spoke to Apple just now, and they're aware. There's no solution, except to wait it out. Because of the 5s launch and iOS 7, Apple's servers are supposedly being hammered. A more senior Apple rep thought there will be delay up to 48 hours.
I have a 5s, and so does my friend. We both have the same issue as you.

  • IMessage and FaceTime not logging in

About two and a half weeks ago, I had to reset my Apple ID password. After this, iMessage and FaceTime worked fine on my iPod (5th gen.). However, on my Macbook Air (mid-2013 model), I could not log back on to iMessage. I am not sure about FaceTime, but I assume it didn’t work either, because it’s not working now. Every time I went to iMessage, it would ask me to put in my Apple ID password. I would enter it, it would take a while to process, and then it would bring up a window that would say something like, “You can be reached at these addresses:” Then it listed my email address with an un-checked box beside it. I would go to check the box, but it would only flash as checked for a second before un-checking again. I couldn’t log in through System Preferences either; it told me there was a server error and to try again later. I tried multiple times a day for about a week, and it never worked.
Then, updated my Macbook Air (mid-2013 model) to the newest version of the Mountain Lion OS. The update had been available for a while; I had began to download it then, but I must have lost wi-fi or something near the beginning of the update. After that, beside the “Update” button in the App Store, it had a message along the lines of, “There was an error downloading. Please try again.” (Or at least, I’m fairly certain that’s what it said. It was most likely more simple than that.) I finally updated it about two days ago. It works fine, but I still can't sign into iMessage. I enter the password, and it loads and loads and loads. I can leave it going for at least a day, and I’ve tried multiple times. FaceTime is also not working; I open the app, and it shows the video box and sidebar. In the sidebar, it says, “Signing in” with a loading symbol. Below it, it says that I must sign in to my Apple ID to use FaceTime, and gives me a box to input my Apple ID and password. However, I can’t put in the info, because it is apparently already signing in. It just keeps loading, just like iMessage.
Is there a way to sign in any other way? If not, is there a way I can solve this problem?

    Maybe these will help.

  • Does anybody have a fix with iMessage and FaceTime being stuck on "waiting for activation" for Telstra phone numbers? Thanks!

I have recentlly moved to Australia with a iPhone 4s bought in the UK. Although; I stopped of in the Philippines and bought a SMART sim there and iMessage and Facetime worked fine (as it did the UK), as I got to Australia: My iMessage and Facetime worked for 2 weeks on a Telstra sim then I turned them off doing something and ever since they have not been able to come back online, they are always going on "Waiting for activation", I have tried restoring my iPhone, following instructions online. Nothing, so I was wondering if anybody would be able to help me.
Also: My email does work with activating my Facetime and iMessage, it's just trying to activate it on my phone number.
    Many Thanks,

Please don't post about beta software in the public forums.
Post in the private forums set up just for iOS 6 beta.
