Why doesn't my iPod touch show up on my iTunes account?

When I want to download music onto my iPod touch from my computer, my iPod won't even show up on my iTunes account.  I've plugged it in and I've also tried using different cords.  It won't show up and I can't download any music from my computer onto my iPod including putting CDs into the drive and putting them onto my iPod.

Has your iPod been synced with another iTunes Library? If it has then you'll have to wipe your iPod to sync it with a new iTunes Library.

  • Why doesn't my ipod touch show on the wheres my iphone app

I lost my ipod touch and it was dead why won't it find it on where is my iphone app?

To locate an iDevice, the device has to be on with wifi on. locations services on, and connected to a wifi network. If the device has been restored, it wil never show up in theFindMyiPhone/iPod.
You said it was dead, that sounds like it was not on.

  • Why doesn't my iPod touch show the Genius icon?

I hope somebody can help me with this, it seems like a simple problem, but I can't figure it out. I have genius mixes turned on with itunes and it shows up on my itouch. HOWEVER: when I am playing a song there used to be the genius icon on top of the song while it was playing. When I clicked on that icon the itouch would select other like songs. That button went away and is replaced with only the artist, title, and album of the song playing. I still have genius mixes, but I don't have the icon while the song is playing. What happened to the icon? I tried restoring the itouch, and I called apple, and I still don't have an answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just tap the "now playing" screen. The Genius icon you are looking for is part of the additional song controls. Tap the screen again and these controls disappear

Googling shows that you have the 1G iPod.  For apps you need at least iOS 2. The iG can go as far os 3.1.3 that you get here:
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
Just be aware that there are presently not that many apps that work with a 1G with iOS 3.1.3

  • Why doesn't the iPod touch have the A7 chip if it supposedly made for gaming and hardcore apps?

Why doesn't the iPod touch have the A7 chip if it supposedly made for gaming and hardcore apps?

Apple has not released a new model of iPod touch since the A7 processor was introduced. When Apple will, or indeed if they will, is as lllass said not something any of use here would know. We'll just have to wait and see.

  • I own a iPod touch and I have an iTunes account but all i can download is podcasts no games or music.when I try to download games it says "request cannot be completed " please help

I own a iPod touch and I have an iTunes account but all i can download is podcasts no games or music.when I try to download games it says "request cannot be completed " could there be a problem with it ?
    Please help

Honestly, these are WAGs but they're all that I can think of.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Why doesn't my ipod touch 5 charge on my laptop or show up in itunes?

My iPod touch 5 doesn't charge or show up on my laptop.  Also, it doesn't show up on iTunes.  Any ideas why?

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another computer
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods where shipped with defective cables
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector for bend or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

  • Why doesn't the iPod Touch 5th generation come in green?

I'm looking to buy a new iPod beacuse my beloved poor old iPod touch has decided to die - its screen has dislodged and from then on its slowly died. How come green isn't a colour that the new iPod Touch comes in and does anybody know why it doesn't come in that colour?

Lets see, Space Gray, sounds so futuristic, it's almost black, goes with everything, because gray is the New Black, and gun metal gray is to political. Silver to add a touch of class. Pink, because girls just like it, and you can show you support for breast cancer awareness. Yellow, is fun, makes you think of spring. Blue, if you have pink for the girls then you need blue for the boys. Red, it goes faster then the other iPods and you can show you care about curing AIDS. Green, well Green makes you think of money, and money equals greed. If you put money and greed ahead of fun that creates bad vibes and could cause the total collapse of the whole Western economy!
Doesn't that sound better than, "I don't know." Cheers!

  • Why doesn't my iPod Touch 5G have a compass?

On Apple's list of stock apps, it claims that the iPod Touch 5G has a compass.
    Here's the text:
The Compass app is all you need to get your bearings. Just hold your iPod touch flat in your hand to see the four cardinal directions and the degrees of each. Or swipe to the left for a level or an inclinometer.
The link to where you find the text:
    http://www.apple.com/ipod-touch/built-in-apps/

This seems to be a mistake. (This picture could be taken from the iPhone)
The iPod can't have a compass, because it needs GPS which the iPod doesn't have.
Leave Apple a feedback to they can remove it.

  • Why doesn't my iPod touch go to landscape on the internet

I have a new iPod touch. It will not go landscape on the internet when I rotate the iPod. Videos are fine, but for some reason, the touch only wants to do portrait mode on internet even when I rotate the iPod touch. I have read the manuals thinking I was doing something wrong, but it sounds like it should be automatic. Thanks in advance.
    Dicedoc

    According to Apple Support:
    +*Display does not go into wide-screen mode*+
+Open a web page or video and try turning iPod touch on its side to see if it goes into wide-screen+
+If that doesn't work, try another web page or video.+
+Note: Not all applications on iPod touch use wide-screen mode. Videos are automatically in wide-screen mode on when in iPod and YouTube.+
This may be the issue you are experiencing. Have you tried multiple pages to see if any work?

  • HT4623 why doesn't my ipod touch have 'software update' on it? I can't add apps on it because of this.

I have an ipod touch and I can not add apps to it as it is saying I need to update my ipod.
The trouble is when I go to General - there is no SOFTWARE UPDATE on the ipod.
What do I do to update it and be able to download apps?
    Please Help!

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

Also read the instructions from the section entitled "Update your device using iTunes" at the link below.

Information regarding transferring purchases from your iDevice to iTunes on your syncing computer can be found at the link below.

NOTE: The 2nd generation iPod Touch can not be upgraded beyond 4.2.1.

  • Why is my iPod touch repeatedly asking for different iTunes account passwords?

Does anyone know why my iPod Touch keeps asking for 5 different iTunes account passwords? Also, in the iTunes app it says I have 651 songs preparing to download, and I didnt tell it to download them. Does anyone know why this keeps happening? It only began after I reset my iPod.

I have this problem too. I'm trying to restore an iPod and it asks me for account numbers. Is there Anyway to get around it? Cause it does not seem fair if I can have and listen to it on my iTunes but not my iPod. The one account is from a girl who litteraly went mentally insane, I'm not going to be asking for her password EvER. And the other is An ex friend and I don't even know who the third account is! This is really not fair and sooooo annoying. It won't put on alll my other music without these passwords. There has to be a fix for this. I can't even use my iPod and get music on it!

  • My ipod touch shows up in my itunes with my name but when I go to mycomputer it shows up as someone elses ipod?? Any thoughts on this weirdness would be helpful

When I did an upgrade all the songs were wiped off my ipod touch.  Now my ipod shows up with my name in itunes but it shows up in "mycomputer" with someone elses name.  It won't sync all the way either, it says the device has timed out.....Help Please?!

That means that iTunes is not seeing the iPod properly. Try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    Or
    See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - Then do the other actions of:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
paying special attention to item #5
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause
