I used to be able to use Time Machine with my Seagate but all of a sudden it has stopped working and doesn't recognise the external drive anymore.
1. never ever have a single choke point of data failure as a single ext. hard drive. always 2 copies off-computer at all times minimum.

3. There are 2 possibilities fundamentally, SATA card failure (unlikely) in the ext. HD, or you corrupted the filesystem in yanking the HD while it was arranging itself (very likely).
youre not out of luck no.
Does the HD spin up at all (listen closely) ? If it doesnt , its SATA card failure.
if it does its a corrupted file system from yanking the HD
FIRST try reconnecting the HD again a couple times, often this does in fact work.

It's because of the extension of the hard drive is a Windows extension ( most likely MSDOS or Ex-FAT), meaning you can only read but not write. If there are no important files (or you can copy the whole thing to your computer/mac) you can just reformat the hard drive and change the extension to NTFS (readable and writable on both windows and mac) or Mac OS Extended (readable and writable on Mac, readable on windows).
Go to DISK UTILITY
Choose the Hard Disk you intended
ERASE
You can choose either

My MacBook Pro doesn't start; in safe mode <shift CMD V> the message "disk0s2: media is not present" is written on the screen repeatedly but the MacBook doesn't start. Do you have any ideas of why this should be or what I should do to resolve this? Thanks Eamonn
Thanks for these suggestions: I have tried safe mode re-starts (both "verbose" and simple "shift" + power) to no avail. I get the error message "disk0s2: media is not present". Following this I inserted the installation disc and from there ran disc utility. The "Verify Disk" indicated an error " invalid sibling link" which it could not repair.
I also tried to completely re-format/erase the disk, but again got an error message "disk object invalid or unable to serialize".
Any ideas of what could be causing this or the best solution? I fear I am fast running out of options. -

when you have the same issue after the SMC reset:
put new batteries in the MM (even if the others are not empty), turn Bluetooth off then on again on the MBA, take all USB connections out (if any), delete the pairing of the MM and re pair the MM. -
Why can't a choose to create a Windows 7 install disk on my 2010 macbook air?
It is a 2010 macbook air, with lion 10.7.2 and bootcamp 4.0.1. the option to create a windows 7 install disk is greyed out, i have a trial version from microsoft website, but i also have a downloaded windows 7 both of them are .iso, i also have a 4gb usb in. could someone explain to me how to fix this?

I have an iMac with Windows 7 running via BootCamp, but I really don't like the BootCamp setup mainly because it's necessary to reboot the computer every time you switch from one OS to the other.
A few days ago I got a new MBA 128GB model which I decided to put Windows on via Parallels. I have an old stand-alone DVD drive I plugged into the MacAir which immediately recognized the DVD drive. I then installed Parallels on the MacAir. When that was finished, it prompted me for a Windows installation disk, which I then put in the DVD drive.
Away it went with very little requests for inputs from me. In a short time, I had Windows 7 up and running. So far it looks like a great setup. With a few other programs, the MacAir reports that it still has 88GB free out of the 128 GB SSD. -
i just brought Macbook pro(without retina display) on 15 june 2013 and when i switched it on the battery was 72 % charged and now the battery is charged to 62%, i used the charger that came with it and kept it for 6-7 hours on charging but it is not charged to 100% but why? also the green light is always on when i plug the charger with my mac book pro.Please tell me the meaning of Green light on power cord lid (mac book pro not charging or charging?) and also the other light if there like amber or any other colour.

Congratulations on your new MacBook Pro! Thank you for providing all the information about what is going on with the charging issue.
Firstly, I found some information on page 11 of the MacBook Pro User Guide about what each color of the LED means on the Power Adapter:
When you first connect your power adapter to your MacBook Pro, an indicator light on the
MagSafe connector starts to glow. An amber light indicates the battery is charging. A green light indicates that the battery is fully charged.

It sounds like you are not getting the amber light indicating your computer is charging, and you are noticing that the battery level is depleting. I recommend resetting your System Management Controller when something like this is occurring:
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

How can I sync apps from my iTunes on Macbook Air without syncing apps from the iPad 2 to my Macbook Air? (As my Macbook Air is only 64GB and my iPad is 64GB and that my Macbook Air only has 40 GB left...) It seems like your iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, but your iPhone 6 is working normally.
I recommend starting with these steps to troubleshoot your iPod touch and connection with your Mac:
Check your USB connections
Unplug other USB devices from your Mac and try again.
Try a different USB port.
Try a different USB cable.
Restart your device
Restart your iOS device or reset your iPod.
Restart your Mac
Turn your Mac off and back on.
Update your software
Check for software updates on your Mac.
Check for an iTunes update.

I have a macbook air and need additional storage should i consider a time capsule or a simple external hard drive?
If you move live files (files you don't want to lose) to an external drive, you need to back them up. Any files not backed up are at risk of loss. Hard drives and SSDs can fail at any time. It is hard to backup a Time Capsule so a TC should be used only as a backup device.
Do you have a Time Machine backup now? If so, and if it is large enough, you can backup your internal and external disk to it using Time Machine. If not, you all need to purchase an external drive or TC as your backup device. (I recommend an external hard drive for backup instead of a TC.) Ideally the backup drive should be twice the size of what you are backing up but 50% larger will work so if you have an external 1 TB disk and an internal 250 GB SSD then a 2 TB backup disk will work well.
By default, Time Machine will not backup the external disk. You need to remove it from the exclusions list:
To have Time Machine backup your system disk and your external offload disk up onto your Time Machine disk:

Needs some help resolving this issue. External hard drive (Toshiba v63600-C) will not mount anymore on my mothers-in-law's macbook air. She notice this problem starting on the Aug 6th. You can see it in the Disk Utility but is not mounted. I can get the her ext hard drive to mount on my Macbook Pro with no problem. I also tried my personal ext hard drive (Seagate) on her Macbook Air and it will not mount. Not sure what is going on here. Any help is appreciated in resolving this issue.

So unless you can come up with much stronger evidence to the contrary, I doubt that your feeling are going to carry any weight at all.
