Why doesn't my Microphone work on my Ipod touch 5th Gen?

I have attempted to reset everything.  There isn't anything blocking or covering the mic on the bottom of the case.  What else can I try to get it to work?

You said "I have attempted to reset everything. " Did you do that?

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem, send the iPod to Apple for repair/replacment, or contact a third-party repair place.

  • Why doesn't my hp pc recognize my ipod touch 5th gen

Have a new Ipod Touch 5th gen, that is not being recognized by my hp pc...also have downloaded Itunes and Quickstart, but
nothing seems to help...my ipod does seem to charge while being connected there is no indication that it's even connected.
Can this be a windows 7 problem?

    No.

  • Why doesn't my shuffle work on my Ipod touch

at the top of the list of songs...or the list of composers etc...there is a the word shuffle along with the designated shuffle symbol...when I push it or 'turn it 'blue' it never seems to work and I am constantly listening to the same song back to back to back. Nothing seems to change it or I more likely I could use some help here....

While you are playing the song, tap the screen to see the info bar. There is a shuffle icon on the right and a repeat icon on the left. If you want to repeat all songs on that playlist, make sure the repeat icon is blue by tapping it until it's blue. If you want to repeat the current song you are playing forever, tap the repeat icon until it has a "1" on the bottom left of the icon. If you just want to play every song on your playlist once, tap the repeat icon until it's gray. The shuffle icon only has an on and off.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why doesn't my password work on my iPod Touch? Help!

I always used my iPod touch. I probably havent touched it in a month or so though. I know my password because I was using it earlier today. When I tried to hook up my iPod to iTunes, a window came up that said I needed to enter the password on my iPod before it could sync to iTunes. I entered the password a few times before my iPod said it was disabled and I needed to connect it to iTunes before I could try my password again. I tired it again, and the "Wrong Password" message just kept coming up on my iPod. Did my iPod's password change automatically? Is there a different password when I need to sync to iTunes? Help?!

Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to reset the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

  • How can I get autoplay to work again? ipod touch 5th gen, ios7.1.1, windows vista and 7

I've had this ipod for almost a year now and a few months ago my autoplay suddenly stopped working on both my laptop and my desktop. Laptop runs Vista (and is where my ipod is synced) and the desktop is Windoes 7. Since it still syncs fine I've been ignoring the problem but now i've got too many photos and need to make room. I've tied uploading through the dropbox app but there's a LOT of photos so it takes too long and the app crashes often. Even when autoplay would sometimes not work, the ipod would still show up in My Computer. Now there's noting. My computer isn't even recognizing it as a device. Only iTunes still notices it. I've gone through the support FAQ already but none of it works/applies. My ipod recieves a charge and the "Do you wan't to trust this computer?" dalouge shows up when it's unlocked. It sees the competer at the least.
Deleting photos is NOT an option since they have no backup. This also means I'm trying to avoid reseting to factory settings UNLESS the backup of my ipod includes all my photos. I'm not sure if it does or not and there's thousands of  photos at risk so I' not making that move unless I know for sure that they're safe.
I would really appreciate any advice anyone has.

Try on another computer. Just do not sync with that computer.
    You can also try:

    or

I have bought my G1 touch two weeks before the G2 and now I'm left out. I have a nano from 2006 and I simply put the dongle in it and it's working fine. The nano doesn't have a bluetooth internal receiver, that's why you plug the dongle.
It that is the only thing you need the receiver for, why doesn't the Nike+ Sport kit work with the iPhone?
So I should plug simply the dongle in the touch G1 and with the latest firmware be able to do the thing.
That may be your opinion but it's not the way it works.
This is incredible. You know, this is what Microsoft was doing and now Apple is doing it !
Microsoft had products that worked with the Sport kit? Didn't know that.

  • Is there a (relatively simple) way to skip tracks with an iPod touch 5th gen using a physical button? I'm aware songs can be skipped on-screen without unlocking the iPod, but I'm looking for a method that doesn't require taking my eyes off the road.

Is there a (relatively simple) way to skip tracks with an iPod touch 5th gen using a physical button? I'm aware songs can be skipped on-screen without unlocking the iPod, but I'm looking for a method that doesn't require taking my eyes off the road while driving. For that reason, I'm also not interested in adding in headphones or additional devices that have the desired button functions. Going both forward and back would be great but I would be pleased just to have a "sight-free" way to go forward.
I've seen some mention here and there about ways to maybe change it so the volume buttons change tracks and holding the volume buttons changes the volume... but I don't know what's involved in that or if its even possible/recommended for a new 5th gen iPod. I think its a great device but its sadly lacking in music oriented functions and features... which is disappointing since music is why most people would bother getting one instead of some other "iDevice" :/

Given that you cannot do what you have asked for, perhaps you simply need to find another solution to your root problem.
Presumably, you want to skip to the next track because you don't want to hear the current one, and that is because...
    You don't like it.
You've heard it recently and don't want to hear it now.
Simply don't want to hear it at this time.
For problem number 1. Don't put it on the iPod in the first place. (I know, obvious answer!)
For problem number 2. How about playing from a Smart Playlist (initially created in your iTunes Library) which has only songs you've not played recently?
For problem number 3. Hhhmmm! Create alternative Playlists for use in the car.
As for going back to the start of the "now playing" track.... Well, if your Playlist has only songs that you really, really want to hear, then you'll be looking forward to that rather go back to the beginning of the current song.
I'm not trying to be prescriptive, just giving you food for thought.
(They are all cheaper options than buying a car which can control the iPod from the steering wheel.)

  • Why does my ipod touch 5th gen not charge when plugged into my computer? (it keeps stuttering(lightning symbol next to bettery goes on and off literally every second))

so I have my ipod touch 5th gen connect and the little lightning symbol, next to the battery on the top left, keeps flashing on and off every second. I don't know what to do and also it doesn't show up on iTunes.

Hey Ed, Try trouble shooting 101. Do you have a different cable and/or charging device? If so, try the different cable first, then a different charging device. If the problem goes away, I'd say it's the cable, replace it. If with in 1 from date of purchase, Apple will replace for free if the cable is found to be defective. If the problem continues with a different cable or a different charging device, then the problem is with your iPod. With a strong light and a magnifying glass look in the iPod's charging port. Your looking for damage in and around the port. Is the port lose? (shouldn't be). Are pieces missing or damaged? Bent or damaged contact pins can do what you describe. Foreign debris, namely pocket lint or corrosion can also cause charging issues. If you see something like lint, try to blow it out, or if you must use a non-conductive probe, I find a round wooden toothpick works well to carefully remove the lint from the bottom of the port. Just be careful to not touch, bend or damage the gold contact pins on the long side of the port. Also make sure the locking pins on the short ends (looks like two silver bumps, one on each end) of the port are free to move. If you find corrosion, try plugging / unplugging about 12 times to clean the contacts off. If you must use a cotton swab cut to fit, with a drop of 91% isopropyl alcohol on it, you want it damp, not wet, then plug it in and out until the swab comes out clean. You will most likely need several swabs. If you find nothing physically wrong, then try resetting your iPod. If that does not work, restore from backup, last resort, make a backup then restore to new, a full factory restore. If issue continues see your Apple store and have it evaluated for a possible hardware issue. But start with a different or new cable. Good luck, Cheers.

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen microphone

    Hi,
I want to buy my boyfriend (and myself) an iPod touch 5th Gen as I am abroad and he's in the UK. I want it mainly for Facetime or Skype. Is there an inbuilt microphone or is an external headset needed? It seems that there is a microphone inbuilt (from what I've read) but this seems to make the iPhone a bit redundant, so I'm unsure.
    Many thanks.

Thank you - as I'm sure you understand, it's a lot of money to spend if it doesn't do what I really want it to do. Advice much appreciated as I couldn't really find my answer elsewhere.

  • IPod Touch 5th gen no longer working with Mini stereo...

I have an 'entertainment pack' in my Mini that allows me to connect my iPod Touch 5th gen to the car stereo (via USB & aux in cables) to both listen to it and scroll through my music through the stereo interface. I have had a few problems before with it not connecting but these usually resolved themselves within a day or so and I think were more to do with my lightning to 30 pin adapter than my actual iPod. However, since I installed the latest ios7 update a couple of days ago I cannot get it to work at all and keep getting a message saying 'this accessory is not supported' when I plug the iPod into my car. Any suggestions on how I can resolve this?

Try another adopter, a genuine Apple one

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?

  • I have numerous different apple products with the new lightening connector, all of which have broken or stopped working after just short periods of time, I have an iPhone 5C, and iPad mini and and iPod Touch 5th gen?

Hi, I have numerous different Apple products, an iphone 5c, iPad mini and iPod touch 5th gen.
I have had them all for only relatively short periods of time yet the lightning cable has stopped working on all of them?
On the touch, charging has stopped completely?
Is this a manufacturing issue with the new charging system?

Hi, yes I'm using the original apple cables.
This definitely isn't user error nor confined just to me, the devices are used by different people in the home.
On a quick sample around the office (survey of 7 people let me add) 4 of them said the cables had broken on them and had to be replaced.
Having also searched through the forums it appears this is a fairly widespread issue.
    It's defo not user error!
