Why doesn't my movies play in itunes

I have attempted to play my movies on my Acer Aspire R7 but they cannot be loacted. I backed up my old computer's ITunes Library to an external hard drive and followed the instructions for importing on the ITunes site. Downloads from the ITunes Store take too long and they often time out. Any suggestions on how to get ITunes to recognize the location of the files?

  • Why doesn't QuickTime movies play on iPad?

When I get a QuickTime movie attachment in email why won't it play on my ipad2. I thought QuickTime was a Apple product?

You can only use QuickTime Player 7 to play that 12 year old format.

  • HT2801 Why doesn't my dvd play in the usb superdrive?  I have a Retina Display Macbook 15"

I have a 15" Macbook Pro w/ retina display.  Why doesn't the dvd play in the external usb superdrive?

Again, it's a regularly purchased (Hollywood or so) movie DVD, yes? And it's not only this one DVD, but every other as well, yes? Please confirm.
If so, it's the DVD Player app that hangs for whatever reason, and not a broken drive.
Not that it's a "final solution", but just to see if you can generally play DVD's on this machine, would you mind installing and trying MPlayerX to play a DVD? It's a little app from the App Store, free of charge and much used around the globe. (Actually, you may want to keep it as it plays many more different formats...)
Edit: Forgot to say that you will probably need to launch the DVD manually from MPlayerX, most likely after the DVD Player app crashed again.
Let us know what MPlayerX does. And still, don't forget confirming the above, thanks.

  • Movies playing in iTunes will not show closed captions

I have purchased several movies from the iTunes store. They all have Closed Captioning listed in the store description. I need Closed Captioning because I have hearing loss and even with my hearing aids, I cannot hear all the dialogue in movies.
In my iTunes app, I opened Preferences-->Playback and checked the box for "Show closed captioning when available." Then I play the movie in iTunes. No captions. I click on the Controls menu for Audio & Subtitles. It's grayed out.
I go to the .m4v file in Finder and open the movie with Quicktime to see whether I can get captions that way. No captions. I check the View menu for Show Closed Captioning. It's grayed out.
At this point I'm thinking these movies do not really HAVE captions, despite what the store description said. However, this proves to be wrong because I turn on my TV and start up my Apple TV 3. I select "Movies" and then "Purchased" and find these movies. When I play these movies via the Apple TV, they all show up on the TV screen with the captions working perfectly.
So, what gives? I've spent hours searching the internet for a solution, but all I can find is that the selection I've made in iTunes preferences *should* make the captions show up in iTunes. I'm stumped. I want to play the movies on my computer in iTunes (or in Quicktime) so that I don't have to be at my house in front of my TV in order the enjoy them. Is there any way I can make these movies play in iTunes with the captions showing? Can anyone make any suggestions? I'd be very grateful if someone could help me achieve this goal.

I have same problem with my son's iPod Touch running iOS 5.1.1.  I set "explicit" to off, but then many songs we purchased on iTunes that are labeled as "clean" do not show up on his iPod Touch. If I set "explicit" to on, they do show up.

  • Can you child lock your iphone or ipad so they can't turn off a movie playing from itunes?

can you child lock your iphone or ipad so they can't turn off a movie playing from itunes?

No. The only option is to actually prevent the child from being able to physically touch the device i.e. lock the child, not the device.

  • Why doesn´t music stop playing when making a call?

Why doesn´t music stop playing when making a call?
Shouldn´t that be automatic like it used to be in iOS6?

Ok, I just realised that this only happens if the current page in iBooks has a video on it.  If the page has only text and images, there is no problem.
I still think it is a bug though. If the video is not running, I don't see why the music player should be stopped. If I choose to start the video on the page, THEN the music player should be stopped.

  • Why won't my songs play on itunes?

I have windows xp and recenlty I had all my items removed, my hard drive wiped, and then all my items were re-added to my laptop.  My volume works just fine with everything except iTunes....when I hit play on a song, the song cues up, but it doesn't play, and the little curser that moves as the song progesses just sits there at the 0:00 mark.  Do I need to update a driver?  Thanks so much!!!

    Hello,
I have the latest Itunes and a IPOD CLASSIC updated.
Some songs i can play in itunes (MP3 CDRip 320 KBS) won't play in the ipod.
I don't know how to fix this problem.
I restored the ipod from the itunes and sync again, but the problem persist.
The sogs are Skipped when i try to play.
I find a fix for this problem: sync the music with mediamonkey.
ALL songs can be played in the ipod after sync with mediamonkey.
Is very strange this problem, maybe itunes generate this problem, because after aync with itunes many songs are skiped and won't play, but with mediamonkey sync the problem is solved.

  • Why won't my movie play from the title screen?

I purchased "Bridesmaids" and a couple of other movies on my iTunes account. When I go to play the movie, it loads the title screen, but I cannot start the movie when I try to push "play" or through the scene selection. Is there any way to re-download a movie that I have previously purchased? Thank you!

    Hey MerHTX16,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you want to download a past purchase. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
Download past purchases from iTunes in the Cloud - Apple Support
    On a Mac or PC
    Open iTunes.
Click More (three dots) in the upper-left corner.
Click Movies  or TV Shows  from the pop-up menu.
    Click iTunes Store.
If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under Movie Quick Links or TV Show Quick Links on the right side of the iTunes Store, click Purchased.
Select Not in My Library to view purchased content that isn't on your computer.
Scroll to find the item that you want to download.
Click the Download  icon in the upper-right corner of the item you want to download. Your app downloads to your library.
If an item is already in your library, the Download icon won't appear.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a good one,
    Mario

  • Why do I have intermittent playing of iTunes??

Often I have intermittent playing of iTunes. I am running XP and this is NOT an Airplay issue. This occurs with the desktop. If I reboot the problem is resolved. Then after a while I will come back to iTunes and it will then be intermittent.

  • Why won't itunes movies play in itunes?

I am running windows 7 ultimate, with updated drivers for video card, sound card, etc.  Some itunes downloaded content will play (It's a wonderful life) in quicktime, but not in itunes.  Pacific Rim will not play in either, and yet some music videos open in itunes, but not music movies. Yesterday I opened Pacific Rim in quicktime, and that made it possible to open in itunes, but today nothing opens in itunes at all.  All are protected mpeg-4 files bought and downloaded through itunes.  I'm so frustrated....

Could you walk us through what happens when you try to play the movies, please?

  • Why doesn't number of plays get synced from iPod to iTunes?

ipod shuffle, the little square one, 4th or maybe 5th generation.
    Mac OS X 10.7.5
    itunes 11.2.2
I listen to something on my ipod. I plug the ipod into my computer. In itunes, on the ipod, I can see the track I listed to has number of plays 1. That track in the library on the computer fails to get any plays next to it. Why? Why does this stuff never really work properly? I'm sure it used to work, but I could be wrong. It's not working now. Plays on/from the ipod don't get registered on the computer. This means I don't know which tracks I've listed to and which I haven't. Great.

    John,
Automatic sync of an iPod  is supposed to sync the play counts back from the device to your iTunes library.  Unfortunately the capability is unreliable and always has been.
Here is a thread on the topic from 2009.
I have found two things that help:  try to do the sync shortly after you have rebooted your machine, and every once in a while do a Restore on the iPod.  These help, but do not give you complete accuracy, and needless to add, are both a lot of trouble.
Maybe others here have additional ideas.

  • Why can't my rental/owned movies play in itune?

I rented and bought movies from Itunes. It was working fine and then when i try to play Itunes the screen is blank and it seems that it is trying to load the movie buy is taking forever. please help.

Did it stop working after an iOS update? Sometimes an iOS update will break compatibility. Have yo went to the manufacturer's support site? Maybe there is some info their. Maybe a firmware update is available.
    Sometimes this works
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Why doesn't my movie rental play?

I'm currently renting a movie and normally I am able to watch the movie as it downloads, but right now I can't play the movie and 600 MB of the movie has already loaded.

I use iTunes on my Mac Mini (on Mountain Lion, latest iTunes version) connected to our HDTV to watch movies/TV shows.
Yesterday rented "Here Comes The Boom" but the 'Rented' selection did not appear in the Movies section (all the other selections did - Unwatched, Movies, Home Videos, List). I relaunched iTunes twice but that didn't fix it. I rebooted my Mac Mini and launched iTunes but still no Go.
I followed Klaey's initial advice and used Spotlight and did find the movie mp4 file in the iTunes movie folder. However I could not import it into iTunes (dragging or import selections). I didn't want to create a new User ID, though.
So finally reported it by clicking on the 'Report Problem' button in my iTunes Purchased Items section of my Account and also submitted it as a help request ticket (referencing the purchase Order #) via Apple's Support email process. Only got an acknowledgement email back but a few hours later, the 'Rented' selection finally appeared and we were able to watch the rental finally.
Best of luck to all, this was the first time I've encountered this.
