Why doesn't my Panasonic X900M Camcorder open automatically in iMovie 11?

Hi. I bought a new Panasonic X900M Camcorder which is supposed to work in iMovie 11. When I connect the camcorder to my iMac (OSX10.7.5), iPhoto pops up for some reason and then the rolling ball shows. I do a force quit. I would have thought that iMovie 11 would automatically open. I have to manually open iMovie up but when I try to import anything, it too shows the rolling ball. When I connect the camcorder, a file opens up on the desktop but inside it are just a few video clips and photos. Most of my video work doesn't even show. And I can't drag and drop the few that are there, to iMovie.
Any thoughts about this? I have used the old iMovie HD for years and found it very easy to use with my old DV camcorder. This new camcorder and new iMovie has me wondering.

Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X

I am experiencing the same exact issue. Running Office 2010 and whenever I open an xlsm file by double clicking on it in Windows Explorer, it opens in Excel but the macros do not open. If I open the VBA editor, only the current document is shown in there
and not the macros.
Opening Excel first and then dragging the spreadsheet file from Windows Explorer into Excel does work, and while the answers here are workarounds, they are far from solutions and are a very cumbersome workaround when dealing with multiple files.
Can anyone help with a proper solution to the issue? I've tried adding my XLSTART folder to the "At startup, open all files in:" setting in the Advanced options menu, and that has done nothing.

Camcorder opens iPhoto not iMovie

My Panasonic SDR-H40P opens up in iPhoto to access the still photos but I cannot get it to communicate with iMovie for the video files. I upgraded to iLife '08 and did all the software updates but still nothing works. Any ideas as to what I should try next? Am I better off buying a card reader instead of going directly from the camcorder?

What Camorder do you have? I'm looking to get a Sony DCR-SR45 and I'm finding that it may not be compatible with a mac.

Why doesn't my Bridge (CS2) show "open camera raw" option?

I just downloaded adobe photoshop CS2 and of course tried to open Bridge too, it had the dll. problem but I fixed it but now when I would like to edit my pictures it doesn't even give the camera raw option. How do I fix this?

You have to provide more details about system and what files you are trying to view. But honestly I can't remember if it was an option already in CS2. This was Bridge version 1 and we are now in Bridge version 6. It also use Camera Raw at max version 3.7 and current version in CC 2014 is 8.5.
I doubt many people will remember how it was back then, you are talking about an application released in 2005, almost 10 years ago...

Why doesn't CD burned with iTunes open with track data in iTunes on another computer?

I brought an album of 11 original songs in cda format into iTunes - I then addeded all the data to each song - artist composer genre etc. and burned an audio CD from the playlist. When I play it in the car CD player it displays the song names. When I load it back into iTunes on my computer all the data shows. When I load it into another computer with iTunes - all it shows is the original file names ie Track01 Track02 etc. How come?

Thing that baffles me is that the CD opensin itunes in the computer that created it displaying the full data - but shows track numbers only on another computer - when opened in itunes.
On the computer that created it, the info is stored in a file, not on the CD itself.

Why doesn't firefox 8 or 9 open e-mail imbedded (zip) pictures in Yahoo like IE8 does?

I use Yahoo mail in both IE8 and Firefox 8 (now 9). Many times the imbedded pictures in email are not shown except as an attachment which must be downloaded and opened by an ancillary program (don't know which one IE8 uses). IE8 will open the file and place the pic within the text.
Firefox ask me which program to use and I haven't got a clue.
There is also a "slideshow" prompt next to the attachment which presents a orange bordered black screen. It goes through the pictures by count but nothing is ever seen. This is probably some Yahoo program. I've only seen it in the last two months.
I know for certain that some of this mail comes from a Win7 computer using Gmail.
I'm not crazy about Yahoo but I've been using it for years, because it's free, with intermingled calendars with Google's Gmail which is linked to my smart phone.
I prefer Incredimail (also free) as my e-mail processor (thru Gmail). It has some great stuff and displays everything that comes in exactly where it is suppose to be. Can't intermix with Yahoo unless one is a paying subscriber.

Why doesn't search work when I open a PDF in Safari?

If I download the pdf and open it in Adobe reader, search works OK. Using cmd-F in Safari opens a search window, but it does not find words that I am able to find in Adobe reader.
Is there a way to force Safari to open the file in Reader (new window is OK)?

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
Allow Plug-ins
Then click
Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.

Why doesn't Safari 7.0.4 open pages in my Mac?

I am with problems to open some sites in the SAFARI - version 7.0.4 (last update).
I verified that the problems occur in sites that do not change criptografadas information (HTTP).
Does somebody have idea of as to decide this problem?

Why doesn't Windows allow iTunes to open anymore?

Since I downloaded the new operating system iOS 6 to my iPod, my Windows XP refuses to open iTunes.
It says: To help Protect you computer, Windows has closed this program.
And when I close this message, another pops out: iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Is that a Data Execution Prevention (DEP) message?
If so, try updating your QuickTime Player to the most recent version. Does that clear up the DEP errors in iTunes?

Why doesn't Goodreader appear in the "Open In" menu for attachments in Mail?

When I activate the "Open In" menu for an attachment in Mail, several applications appear, but not Goodreader. But Goodreader's documentation says that the "Open In" menu is one way to transfer files into Goodreader. ???

I opened the attachment in Noterize (one of the ten apps on the list). But the "Open In" menu in Noterize is the same as the list in Mail, except that it has only nine apps (missing Noterize itself, of course). Since none of these is GoodReader, this is no solution. So, I deleted three of the other apps (which I no longer use) that are on the "Open In" list and restarted the iPad. Now, the "Open In" list has a different set of ten apps, but still none of them is GoodReader (nor DropBox).
I checked several functions in GoodReader (upload, download, annotate), and all are working fine.
"Don't Open Anything" is "Off."
I deleted three more rarely used apps that appear in the "Open In" list, checked the list in Mail again (no restarts) and found that the replacement apps on the list now include both GoodReader and DropBox! Seems that the limit is ten apps and I have no control over which ones appear. I hope I don't ever need to reinstall any of the apps I deleted to get to this point.
Thanks to all for the help. Perhaps Apple will give us control over the "Open In" list in a future upgrade of iOS.

Why doesn't Reader 10.1.8 open on Vista?

I have Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2. The Adobe site directs me to Acrobat 10.1.4 to download on this system. I successfully download and the installation works fine. Within a few days the autoupdate feature appears to upgrade to version 10.1.8, afterwhich Reader will not load. I have tried to open Reader from the program listing and by double clicking on existing pdf files. In all cases, I get the cursor "working" circle for a second or two, followed by nothing. Trying again gets the same response. Checking the Task Manager, I see multiple Adobe processes running, but no Adobe on the applications list. If I uninstall 10.1.8 and download 10.1.4 again from the Adobe site, it works fine for a while, until the 10.1.8 auto update installs. I do not see a way to turn off the auto update.
Any suggestions?

Some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script

Why doesn't Firefox allow me to open a link from an email. I'm sure it used to.

An email from superbreak comes in with two links in blue to their offers. Clicking on them has no effect. This is an example; other received emails exhibit the same problem. Is it the latest Firefox version? Very frustrating.

It works now but I had to set Preferences from IE.
