Why doesn't rotation stick in CS6?

I just tried to rotate an image, pressing "R" for the rotate tool, getting the compass rose over the image, and then rotated the image by dragging 90 degress. So far so good. Then, I wanted to crop the image into a panorama proportion, by pressing "C" for crop tool - and voilá, the image jumps back into the original rotation, just like that. I have tried to press the Enter key after rotating, I have tried to save, I have tried to change to other tools inbetween, I have looked into the toolbar for clues but found none - I just can't understand what it is that I'm supposed to do to make the rotation stick. This is counterintuitive and drives me mad! Why, Adobe, WHY?! I have tried to google for answers but found none. Anybody out there that can please tell me what I'm supposed to do to make this work? Or am I simply experiencing a bug? Advance thanks for any clarification.
I'll just add that I managed to solve this temporarily by selecting rotate 90 degress from the menu and then cropping - but it doesn't really answer the question about why I can't do this visually by using the "R" command and dragging visually, then changing to the crop tool. It's just fortunate that there's often several ways to accomplish the same things in PS. So, I managed to work around it - but I'm still wondering why I couldn't make the rotation stick by using the method above. If I'd like to make a more arbitrary rotation then that seems like the way to do it - if it would stick.

Hello, rotating rotates the preview of your image, and it is not currently supported in the crop tool, or in some filters.
If you want to change permanently the orientation of your document, so that it will be reflected everywhere in Photoshop, or in other programs (especially if it is a 90 degrees rotation), do use:
IMAGE>IMAGE ROTATION> 90° CW or 90° CCW

Yes, really. Do Help / About PS-CS6 and Help / About PS-CC within each program and you'll see the major version number is different. With a subscription-only model there isn't a major release, every 12-18 months and corresponding incrementing of a number in the CS-title, just smaller incremental releases--we've had 1 or 2 so far, so no need to include a version number in the title of the app, anymore.

Why doesn't LR4 offer Bridge CS6 as external editor although it does so with Photoshop CS6?

I shoot in RAW, download my photos into LR 4 and was expecting to edit them with ACR7 before opening them in Photoshop CS6. Photoshop CS6 is automatically offered as an external editor and so is Bridge, but not the latest version of Bridge. After several frustating attempts I finally found out I had to go into the Preferences panel and manually link the bridge.exe app to Bridge CS6!

I have CS6 myself (as well as LR) and do not (or rarely) use bridge. However, I can see a few scenarios where Bridge bundled with Lightroom would be useful.
Lightroom only shows you what is in the Lightroom Catelog, not what is actually on your file store. (ok you can synch or import, but these are work arounds to see what is actually in your folders).
Lightroom only recognises various file types, and you may have multiple other types of files to support your file / project structure (eg PDF's, Indd, autocad, excel, word).
There are times when an image savvy folder browser is useful.
So, I agree with going direct between LR and PS, but somtimes the macro view of your digital assets is what is required.

I changed the about:config to make the rotate gesture move between tabs, and it worked great for well over a year. Now it behaves erratically as described here:

It used to be very controllable to move one tab over, now it is erratic and moves quickly and to unexpected tabs regardless of how slow I do the rotate gesture. This is the main reason I use Firefox over Chrome and I would like to continue to do so unless there is no fix to this.

Just set the browser.gesture.twist.threshold to something around 15-25.

Not so much caroling it as it is wanting to be able to read what is playing on iTunes Radio or which song is playing from my vast library of music on iTunes Match. It easy to forget some less popular songs when on shuffle play through all the songs loaded on the phone. On top would have been a better place for the jack I guess!

Why Doesn't Adobe Have a Cool Logo to Use?

I was looking for the "official" Adobe logo to place on my Photoshop portfolio with tagline "Built with Adobe" and can't seem to figure out what is their logo and where to download it.
The image searches all look like knockoffs.
Apple on the other hand, has the Iconic Finder face and Apple logos everywhere...does Adobe frown on people using their logo — why isn't it easily available (or am I somehow missing it)?

I agree about the Apple sticker. I have two in the side windows of my Bug. Actually they're more of an "ice breaker" than they are a way of saying Made on a Mac. My VW was made on an assembly line in Wolfsburg, Germany, but people see the stickers and they say, "Hey, I just switched to Mac!" And even if they don't know about forty-year-old air cooled german cars, they have something to talk about with me. Come to think of it, I can't recall ever seeing a "Windows XP" or "Vista" sticker anywhere but on the tower of a PC loaded with it. I've seen a few HP stickers, but they were on company cars, so I doubt it was solely product pride.
Here's a good example of why I don't stick logos on stuff anymore. The last four sites I built for people, I told them how I was going to be using CSS for layout design, PHP for their contact forms, Javascripts, and whatever else I was building. All fourof them said, "I don't know anything about any of that stuff. That's why you're building it and I'm not. They didn't really care if I built it on my MacBook or my Toshiba laptop, they didn't really care if I hand wrote the code, or if I let Dreamweaver do most of the back end work. As long as it looked right when I was done and they got a good place in a Google search, none of it mattered to any of them. As long as the header logo matched the company logo, they didn't care if I used Fireworks, Photoshop, or Corel Draw to put it together.
99% of the people you meet won't give a crap one way or another what you use to make what they want. As long as you make it the way they want, that's all that matters. My mother is a painter. She doesn't affix little stickers to her artwork with the labels from the paint and brushes she used. The people she paints for don't want or need to know what she used. They want their paintings. Hmph... It does not work for me, when I click Update in CS6, it says all applications are up to date! That then shows Camera Raw being 7.3...
I then launched LR 4.3 and was greeted with the update to 4.4, which worked perfectly fine.
I returned to CS6 and checked again, to no avail...
So my LR is now stating 4.4 and Camera Raw 7.4, however CS6 is still showing Camera Raw 7.3!
Any ideas, or help?

IPad3 display doesn't rotate when iPad rotates.

The display stopped rotating recently. When it boots up, display is landscape and doesn't rotate. When I open Newsstand, still same but when I open a magazine in Newsstand, the display turns upside down by itself and can't be turned back by rotating the iPad so Ihave to read the magazine by turning iPad upside down. Is there a setting that controls that or is something broken?.

Couldn't find anysuch setting, that's why i wrote. However, I found a reply to another message that solved the problem. "double press the home button will bring up the screen at bottom showing all open apps, just swipe to the right ..., on that last on left is circular arrow icon."

Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server Reporting Services did not like this! When I added my dataset and parameters accordingly, my Dataset had no fields...almost as if running the Stored Procedure in the background to get its Metadata was not working. I
know this works because I tested it as a result of a straight EXEC Command. Why doesn't Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server Reporting Services not like this IF? I did end up getting around this by parameterizing the WHERE clause based on the @ReportTypeName
chosen.

I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, the issue can be caused by the temp table you are using which will also cause the data not display.
I have use below sample table and record to have a test and details information below for your reference:
Right click the DataSet to select the "DataSet Properties" and click the query designer to execute the stored procedure by click the "!" to check if you can get the data:
If you got some error, the issue can be cause by the temp table invalid, so please make sure you have add the query to create and insert recored to temp table like below:

People who have Photoshop, but don't have Lightroom, need ACR so that they can use Raw files. Without ACR they could do nothing with those (they may also like having ACR so that they can work on other kinds of image using the same kinds of adjustments and techniques, as are used with Raw files).
People who have Lightroom, can get access to Raw files regardless whether ACR is present or not. They can use Lightroom on other kinds of image also, using the same methods. LR can pass images directly into Photoshop without passing via ACR (or else does so transparently, which amounts to substantially the same thing).
ACR does not, strictly speaking, even need to be installed for this external editing to happen. In fact, not even PS needs to be - since a different image editor can be used instead, while still retaining the Adobe Raw conversion etc.
Lightroom "subcontracts out" specialised external tasks, in this workflow, but is still your "main contractor": the image is otherwise located, viewed, managed, adjusted/presented and output entirely using LR.
So IMO we can divide image processing into:
operations that involve pixels and layers and layer masks and adjustment layers etc (of the kind done inside Photoshop)
operations that involve parametric edits (of the kind done in ACR where you are not using a Lightroom based workflow; otherwise, done inside Lightroom)
When PS is called in, that's because those tasks are impossible or unsuitable to do in Lightroom. But those tasks can't be done in ACR either - by definition, since LR and ACR have exactly the same image processing "feature set".
Lightroom is irrelevant to the Bridge + ACR + PS workflow. This workflow requires both your PS and your ACR to be current enough, to support your Raw format etc.
ACR and Bridge are irrelevant to the LR + (image editor) workflow. It is in this case, only LR which needs to be current enough to support your Raw format etc.

HT1414 I'm trying to restore from an earlier backup but my iphone only shows the most recent. I'm on Windows Vista and found the backup folder. If I delete the recent files, will it force the iPhone to backup from the next older file? Why doesn't it show

I'm trying to recover a file and the app company said to restore from an earlier backup. My iPhone only shows the most recent backup. I've been searching the net for answers - I found the back up file and date sorted them (over 6mb of files). How can I get my iPhone to restore from an earlier backup?
I am on Windows Vista so I don't have Time Machine.
I have backed up the backup folder so if I mess it up, I have it in a separate place.
Can I just delete all the files with todays date in that backup folder and have it forced to the next oldest date?

As you backup the iPhone in iTunes, it overwrites the last backup. Files are kept as they are changed, so that would explain how you get different dates in your backup folder. The only backups that are saved and not overwritten are the ones done just prior to a restore. You do have the option to go back in time on a Windows computer, however depending on the last time you set a restore point in Windows, it could be back further than you are willing to go.
