Why doesn't the downloads windowemain open after downloading a file?

the downloads window in my version of windows xp pro, sp3, opens with a blank downloads window. it does not show the progress of a download, and the window is blank.
in tools/options, i checked the option to "show the downloads window when downloading a file."
i left unchecked, "close it when all downloads are finished."
the remaining options are "always ask me where to save files," or, "save files to..." neither solves my issue.
i have created a downloads folder on my desktop. but, for my convenience, i would like the downloads window to remain open and displayall subsequent downloads instead of creating a downloads folder.
is there a solution?
p.s. i think that, in earlier versions of firefox, the downloads window showed a download's progress and remained open.

In most cases when I download files, I want the popup window to ask me how to handle them - and it does. However, I have a subscription to the NYTimes crossword puzzles. For this type of file only, when I click on a file I want to open it immediately.
The popup window knows how to open these files: it says

What should Firefox do with this file?

Do this automatically for files like this from now on (This option is checked, but I get the popup window anyway. Does automatically mean something different for you than it does for me?)

whenever i download a web page or attachment, the downloads window in firefox 3.6.25 remains blank.

Do you have "Remember download history" checked in ''Firefox button > Options > Options'' (OR ''Tools > Options'') ''> Privacy'' ?

Also, do not clear download history when using Clear Recent History or when automatically clearing history when closing Firefox.

Hey. So, I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.4. And the download button doesn't appear on the App Store for some apps. So, I would be happy if someone could help me with this problem..

Remove the App Store app from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Swipe up on the App Store app preview card to remove it from the list
- Press the home button when done.
Try the App Store again

Why doesn't the dock icon update after I update my apps?

When I have app updates available, the dock icon shows the number pending. After I perform the updates via the App Store, the dock icon still shows the previous number. Even after a week!

I don't have any problem with the actual update process: it works like a charm on both my Mac Pro and my MacBook Pro. Being able to install my purchased apps on both computers is great, and the App Store applications on the two computers always know what has been updated on each. It's just that darned Dock icon! Here's hoping that the bug gets fixed sooner rather than later.

I played HayDay on my iPhone 4 to level 26-29 or so, then it didn't stay loaded when returning to play. Same scenario with iPad at level 26 even when signed in through Game Center. Why does the game quit within a few seconds after loading?

For Perfect Photo Suite 64, I had no difficulty installing the software on my Win 7 64 bits PC. Did you get information from OnOne on that matter?
For other plugins, the general advice is to wait (several minutes...) when you open Elements after the installation. The MediaDatabase.db3 file must be rebuilt, which takes a long time. If that does not work, you can delete that file to be sure it is rebuilt correctly.
This file is located:
- ProgramData
- Adobe
- Photoshop Elements
- 13
- Locale
fr_Fr (choose your own language version)

Why doesn't the graphical waveform update after adding effects to the rack??

I've noticed that when you add effects to sounds you hear the difference but the waveform does not SHOW you the difference. There's no way of telling how high you're getting with some effects. You don't see any true representation of the audio in the Editor Panel until you Apply the effect. But what's the point of that? That's like making color adjustments to a photo by changing levels but not being able to see what your doing. This sucks. This is absurd. Does Audition do this too?

It works fine on my systems running Mavericks, so this is not something Apple has removed but rather something amiss with your system. I'm not sure what to suggest, but downloading and reinstalling the 10.9.2 Combo Updater might help:

If you have a Magic Mouse you might also look to the various touch/swipe settings; not having one I can't be more specific. Someone else here may have a better suggestion.

Well, with apps genneraly you do get told ahead of time. I'm not sure of the current algorithm with movies though.
Why not just clear up some space? You can check your usage in your settings btw.

After downloading, you need to run the installer.

This FAQ should describe the issue - you need to be using Adobe Reader (free) or Adobe Acrobat to fill out the PDF, Preview on the Mac breaks the PDF so it is no longer usable: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2653

You need to check the software you run.
Some officially supported and sold Mac versions of software use Wine for porting in some fashion or another. If some program you are running is spawning these Wine processes, its probably buggy and not shutting down correctly.
How to figure out which are Wine and which are not...?
Well if its a Cider ported game, you just see if there is a Cider logo on the game.
If its Wineskin ported, theres no super easy way to tell, depending on how much its been modified, but you can look inside the app (right click and "Show Package Contents") and go to Contents/MacOS and see if Wineskin executable is in there. Unless its a very old version of Wineskin it shouldn't be able to hang like that without major issues int he Windows software running in it, and I don't know any any company would release it if it was that buggy.
If its WineBottler Ported, you'll notice quickly because it launches X11 and runs the windows under X11... of course not all X11 apps are Wine, but if you have a program that launches and runs in X11.app then you can look inside it at Contents/MacOS to see if its Wine related.
It could also be Crossover, or a Crossover port of software... you'd have to dig around inside of its app too to see if it looked like one of those.
