Why doesnt the 7th Gen Ipod have a screen display timer?

Seriously, I always buy Apple products but I am beginning to think it's more hassle than its worth.
I would like to set the time the screen switches off while im playing music instead of always pressing the wake button, I like to browse songs while im listening to them.
It seems this new Ipod doesnt have the facility.

That's a 6th gen manual. Here's the 7th gen manual.

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • Does the 7th gen iPod Nano work w/Bluetooth 2.1 Speakers?

Does the 7th gen iPod Nano only work with Bluetooth 4.0 compatible speakers or should it also work with Bluetooth 2.1 devices?

No one here would know for sure. Since the Lightning adapter is new it may take awhile before you see any. The adapter works with my Zeppelin so there are some out there that will work. It will not be Apple making it.

  • Why does the 7th generation ipod nano not have games

I want to know why the 7th generation ipod nano does not come with:
    1- games
    2- voice memo

    1. The iPod Nano runs the Pixi operating system, not iOS and has too small a screen for displaying the game and controlling it.
    2. Plug in a headset with a microphone: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/ipod_nano_user_guide.pdf page 46.

  • I'm looking for a good case for the 7th gen iPod classic. Not some silicon skin but a good case.  Help?

I really do want a new case for my 7th gen iPod classic. It seems there's barely anything on the market anymore except skins.  I don't want a skin. Anything still out there? Searching the web is depressing me.

I bought this hard case for my iPod. I like it but you are right, there isn't a lot of choice out there!

  • Does the 5th gen iPod have wireless capability?

Just ordered a fifth gen iPod touch.  Does it have wirelessi or bluetooth capabilities?

Cool. Having a charger handy always a good thing with an iPod 5. Have seen some issues with different brands of radios, some OME and some aftermarket. Audi, VW and Pioneer seem to come up most often with not wanting to work with iOS 7. You may need to update the interface or look in the app store for a patch, otherwise you should be good to go! And FYI-- As for battery drain I use Bluetooth with a BOSE Soundlink Mini, cuts my use time down roughly 1 to 2 hours less than if I don't use Bluetooth. Good luck, Cheers.

  • Why doesnt the generic tone I have assigned ring w...

I put on a video tone-the one with the bird on the wire as my generic tone for general profile. However, when I receive some calls it reverts back to standard nokia tone-I thought it was down to having teh slide open or closed at one point but this now doesn't seem to make any difference. there does not appear to be any pattern-does anyone know what I am doing wring? Already reassigned the video tone three or four times just to double check.

I am sure you have already checked this, but is the ring tone assigned to the profile that you are using? I had the same issue and realised that I had assigned the ring tone to my Silent profile, rather than General....

  • Is there any way of getting a 7th Gen iPod Nano to sync the same as older generaqtions

I have two problems with my new iPod Nano (7th Gen).
    1. When synced, artwork either isn't loaded at all or the wrong artwork is loaded against the wrong artist.
    2. When I play an album the songs are not played in the correct order, but shuffled automatically.
Can anybody suggest answeres to sorting these issues?
Frankly, if not, the 7th Gen Ipod is a serious regression - it feels more like a very old mp3 player!

The songs are still on her ipod.
They should transfer ok but make sure and use the same Apple ID that was used for the original purchase.
Connect the iPod to a computer, launch iTunes.
From the iTunes menu bar click File > Transfer Purchases From...
Make sure and backup the iTunes purchases >  How to back up your media in iTunes
If this is an iPod touch read here >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Why do I still love the 2nd gen iPod more than the new offerings?

    Hello fellow forum users.
I've been reading these forums for over a year now, but only recently did I register in order to post on this forum. I'm a real music nut and I've owned virtually every iPod since I bought my first one three years (a 1st gen iPod mini). At the moment I own the iPod classic (both 80gb and 160gb versions), an iPod touch 8gb, iPod nano 2nd gen 8gb, iPod nano 3rd gen 4gb, iPod shuffle 2nd gen and since last night I've been the proud owner of an iPhone!
Anyway, I've always wanted to own either a 1st or second gen iPod (the firewire version). I was a poor student when the 1st gen was released way back in 2001, so I'd never seen one apart from photos on the web and watching Steve Jobs' original iPod keynote speech on YouTube. I'd been scouring eBay for the last 6 months for one, but mint examples were going for several hundred pounds, or the other versions I could find were either faulty or completely wrecked. I managed to pick a 2nd gen 10gb iPod up a week ago (just the iPod and the slipcase it originally came with.) After buying a firewire cable and charger from eBay for a couple of pounds, I synced the iPod with my Windows XP laptop and I was away to go!
The thing is (and the reason I've posted this discussion) is how the build quality on the new ipods seems to be lacking compared to a device released 6 years ago. Although the 2nd gen has the same stare-at-me-and-I'll-scratch chrome backplate as my 6th gens, the front hardly has a mark and feels like a rhino could stand on it before it is damaged. The hold switch is big (and less fiddly for my bigger fingers), the headphone jack is secure and the plastic covering on the firewire port is still on sits nicely to protect the firewire port.
Regarding firewire, I think it's a big shame Apple have abandoned this format. As someone who syncs many gbs of music every week, I synced over 1300 songs to it in under 10 minutes (would take my 6 gens over 20 minutes). Even charging via firewire is slightly faster.
I also feel that the sound quality is superior on my 2nd gen and when comparing it to my 6th gen there is a clear difference in sound quality, clarity and the presence of a noticeable background hiss on both the 6th gens and the iPod Touch.
I know you're going to say that the new gen iPods have better battery life, supports videos and pictures, but as a music player I still think my 2nd gen still has lots to offer. I don't know, perhaps I'm becoming nostalgic in my old age! What do you think?

you're absolutely right. i have a selection of newer iPods, an iPhone, etc. and in my desk drawer i also have the very first 5GB iPodl, purchased the week they were released, and a 2nd generation 20GB, which i happened to charge up tonight (i was thinking about ditching it because i never use it anymore). well, then i listened to it. i was blown away. i'd forgotten how good the old iPods sound. so rich, so dynamic, with a kind of -- i don't know how to describe it -- velvety warmth to the sound. the iPhone, by comparison, has a flat electronic quality to it, as does the new shuffle. it seems like in the effort to make things smaller they've cut corners on the sound processing. i don't know. needless to say, i won't be ditching my old 20GB anytime soon. what a gem.

  • Why will my 7th generation ipod classic not work in my 2006 VW Passat?

I equipped my vehicle with the VW iPod connector that was hardwired into my vehicle.  I have used both a 1st Gen iPod video/classic as well as a 4th Gen iPod nano with no issues.  However, the 7th gen iPod classic I recently purchased will not play music through my car's stereo system.  It will charge, but is otherwise undetected by the vehicle.

Because it isn't designed to do that. The only Bluetooth profiles on the Nano are A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth) and low energy (think heart monitor). You cannot sync with it.

  • 7th gen iPod Nano -deleting a podcast

I have a 7th gen iPod Nano and I can't delete a podcast from the device.  It does not appear in my iTunes podcast library.  How do I fix this?

"It'd be nice to get the 7th gen iPod as a replacement"
Because you'd need a different power adapter?  That's not nice.

  • Why doesnt the Canada music store....

why doesnt the Canadian music store have movies and TV shows and is there some way to make my itunes card work for the US store
    thanx

You will have to address this issue with the Canadian copyright holders for this content as to when they will make it available to Apple for download, As to using the US store, you will have to have a US credit card with an attached US billing address to use the US store. This is again due to restrictions placed on Apple by the copyright holders who do not care for cross-border sales.

  • Why doesnt the ipod 5th gen have battery percentage?

Can someone tell me why the Ipod touch 5th generation doesnt have the battery percentage icon?
I've always wondered why the 5th gen Ipod touch doesnt have battery percentage. They should have it, its long overdue.

    See:
[How To] Enable the Battery Percentage with iBackupBot | iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch forums | iFans
However, % battery is not accurate on the iPod and some users have reported increased battery drain.

  • Hi, I have a 7th Gen Ipod Nano and I am unable to delete songs. When synced on the PC I can select tracks but right clicking on them does not give the ability to delete. I have downloaded the latest 1.0.3 software but it did not help.

Hi,  I have a 7th gen ipod nano and am having a problem with deleting songs. I can select the track in my ipod's library but right clicking does not bring up the option to delet. I have downloaded the latest update for the ipod but this has not solved the issue. Can anyone suggest a remedy? thanks

    Hello Lor100,
In order to delete or add individual songs from and to your iPod, you'll need to enable 'manual mode' on the device. This will allow you to add and remove exactly the content you desire.
