Why don't 64bit versions run on my 64-bit computer?

I have a Creative Cloud subscription. 64bit versions will not run on my 64bit machine although the 32bit versions will work. I have Windows 7 Home Premium running on Intel i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67 GHz, 12 GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce GT 220 graphics card. Why don't the 64bit versions run?

The programs start to launch and then fail. They get as far as the welcome image and sometimes also the message from Adobe to participate in the product improvement program. But they never actually launch successfully. The error message is from Windows and states: "A problems caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". When I click okay, the error message goes away and I have never received a solution of any kind.
Please help if you have any idea what it may be.

Illustrator installed both 64bit and 86x on a 64 bit computer

So I installed the Illustrator CS6 trial version on my 64bit laptop and the installing setup never prompted me to choose between the 64bit or the 86x version of Illustrator, so now I have both installed. Do I need both installed? and if I don't how can I choose the 64bit version during installation.

installer screen shows the option to select which one you want to install. This is on the screen on which it asks for the install location. you can keep both the versions installed and use the one you want to use without any issues.

Why don't java applets run when using Firefox 4.0 in a windows limited user account?

Java applications will not run in Firefox 4.0 when the windows user/process only has limited user access rights. The systems, I see this behaviour on have Windows XP Pro SP3, Firefox 4.0 and JRE 1.6.0_24 installed. The java application will run when when full administrative rights are present. This issue did not occur with the 3.6 firefox version that was previously installed.

The problem also exists with the newer Firefox 4.0.1 and Java 1.6.0_25 versions.
Enabling administrative rights resolves the issue ... though this defeats the purpose of using a limited user.
The underlying bug appears to be in the Firefox java plugin detection code. The issue is related to the detection code requiring write access to the HKLM\SOFTWARE\mozilla.org windows registry key. The limited user only has read access for this registry key. The behaviour was identified using the Sysinternals ProcessMonitor utility ... showed firefox calling an interface to create the registry key and getting an access denied response in the limited user case.
A more targeted workaround for the issue is to grant the limited user write access on the HKLM\SOFTWARE\mozilla.org windows registry key. This avoids the need to grant administrative rights to the user and enables the java plugin to be detected. That is, it works on the 2 XP systems where the java plugin wasn't being detected in limited user accounts.

Why don't my actions run?

I installed an action and when I click for it to run it does nothing. the defaul actions don't work either.

So many things have to be in place for an action to run properly - depending on the action you may have to have a document open, and image layer active, something selected or no selection made, etc. etc. that I'd have to ask whether you could be more specific. Not only that, but some actions aren't prepared to anticipate certain settings that may be different in your environment than when the action was recorded. It's not trivial to write a truly general purposse action.
Ideally, could you please describe what the action is supposed to do, and post a screen grab showing your whole Photoshop environment just at the moment you're about to run it? Perhaps someone here can spot something or make suggestions what to try...

Why don't I have sufficient permissions on my own computer?

I'm trying to set up a new Mini Mac after returning another Mini Mac and exchanging it for this one. Before returning the other, I copied off the mail folders. Now I'm trying to copy the Mail folder from the backup of the main Library folder to the main Library on the new Mac. I'm being told that I don't have sufficient permission to do so. Who the heck DOES have permission, if not me? How do I get permission? I own the computer; there's no other administrator besides myself. How do I get the thing to do what I want it to do?

There are certain files on your Mac that - even though you are an Administrator - have permissions that are above yours. These are system files, some application files, and possibly server files.
These are given higher status because they need that status to accomplish certain tasks (like back up certain files or create logs even though you are logged out). It may seem odd that your computer would do things when you are not logged in, but it's a very normal action for a modern OS - especially UNIX.
You could try
File > Import Mailboxes
to import the mail form the old drive/computer. That may solve your problem.

OK, why can I not authorize my Windows 7 64-bit computer for iTunes?

I'm entering my AppleID password just fine (the one I'm using to post this, but the iTunes store keeps rejecting it. Any ideas?
BTW, why does the 64-bit iTunes installer program default to installing under Program Files(x86)? I changed it to the other Program Files directory-- is that the cause of my problem above?

I downloaded premiere Elements 12 Using new Download Assistant because could not get the address www.adobe.come/go/ols_ww_login/ To go to the my order page and I think I did not get the 64bit version. I.Installed the version download and just get the opening screen and will not go any further how do I go get the 64bit version for my windows 7 64bet computer. They are different versions and provided to offer a maximum level of compatibility in case anyone uses plug-ins or peripherals that may not be compatible with the latest 2014 version. Feel free to remove unneeded/ unwanted stuff if you don't fall into that category. Otherwise just leave everything in place - uninstalling and potential reinstalls could make more of a mess than freeing up a gigabyte on your harddrive may be worth...

I keep getting the above error everytime I plug in my iphone.
I am not daft, I do have the 64bit version of iTunes installed already. When I installed itunes 10.5 and more recently 10.5.1 I got an error message that rolls back a section of the installation (The updater I think) before finishing off installing iTunes.
After the installation iTunes will work normally apart from when I try to connect a device. At which point I get the title error message and I can not sync my phone.
It's probably down to Itunes not installing properly however no matter what I try I can not sort the problem out. I've tried uninstalling all apple programmes followed by a registry clean, then reinstall. I've tried the same again but in a specific order. I've tried repairing iTunes, repairing the updater etc etc. Nothing seems to work. I'm out of ideas.
Has anybody had this problem? Please can somebody tell me how to fix it!
Getting an iPad this Christmas and if I can't sync that up to my PC I may just have to go over to ANDROID!!!

Yeah, let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunes64Setup.exe installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunes64Setup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunes64Setup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunes64Setup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly now?

It sounds like you have installed the 64 bit version of iTunes, but you continue to the get an error message that suggests to download the 64 bit version any time you connect your iPhone 5. I understand that you have already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, but sometimes you may need to uninstall additional components related to iTunes to completely remove it from your system.
I recommend following the steps in this article to completely uninstall iTunes:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

Once you have completely uninstalled iTunes, you can download the 65 bit version of iTunes for Windows here:

When you uninstalled iTunes, did you uninstall it by using the article below or just uninstalled iTunes? The best practice is to remove not only iTunes, but also other associating software in the order that the first article give. If that does not work, then check out the second article for more troubleshooting options for connecting your iPhone to your computer.

I also facing the same issue with Adobe reader 9.5.4 version update.
Previous Version installed: 9.5.3
AcroRd32.exe - File Version 9.5.3.305
AcroRd32.dll - File version 9.5.3.305
After update installation to 9.5.4, add or remove program shows latest version but exe and dll is not updated. Vulnerability assessment tools based on file version check identifies patch is still missing. Becomes a HEAD ACHE.
Adobe Reader 9 > Help > About Adobe Reader 9 - First shows version 9.5.4, if your click on it instead of showing AGM version next it shows version 9.5.3.305.
I tested for all previous versions of 9x, works fine in each update. Seems like patch is missing codes for updating file versions.
