Why don't i want to sell this thing
I just ordered a C2D MBP and have been looking for a way to sell my PB and even got an offer for it BUT i have an unhealthy attraction for this thing. This isn't the first time i've tried to sell it and i always end up holding on to it. A faster machine would be ideal and whilst the PB is no slouch its a tad slow for me.
So whats my problem, this is the first mac i've had doubts about giving away. In fact i've considered getting it Laser etched this week but that'll mean i have to keep it till its death. Its also a shame i can't keep both...well technically. I can keep it and my parents would buy me a new Laptop in 4-5 months time or take matters into my own hands and swap the PB for a MBP now. The latter will make me more productive now whilst the former will make me suffer in productivity for 4-5 months...nothing major though.
What do i do?

I agree with Maxit. If hadn't kept my old Ti'PB when I got my G5 I'd have been stuffed! As the G5 is "in the shop" for it's 4th (yes you read it right - 4th!!) repair session! & without my trusty Ti' Powerbook my Photographic workflow would've been halted in it's tracks - yes its slow, but it works & no workflow equals no money!
Its always good to have a backup machine! But it maybe worth selling it for good money & buying a cheaper one - off Ebay?!? (Just know what your buying - if its fully working & reliable etc.)
Though I must say its never nice say goodbye to a machine that has served you well all its life.
The choice is yours. If you cant decide, flip a coin.... "ok, best out of three!" lol!

put the card in the card reader, open the card (it should appear on your desktop) select the photos you want to copy and drag them to where ever you want to store them, or copy and paste them. it is exceedingly simple.
alternately open image capture and select the card from the list of devices and import them from there. again very easy. -

I have multiple iOS devices and a couple of Windows XP Professional PCs, but I want to get a Time Capsule to use just to backup the Windows PCs now.
In the future I want to get a Mac and get rid of the windows PCs and then I will use Time Machine. I just want to know if I can use the Time Capsule now for wired backups ??? I plan on using Norton Ghost and don't need Time Machine nor do I have a Mac to use it. Should I forget this idea ? I plan on buying a Mac in the future and use this drive in the regular Apple manner. Please help !The format of the disk is a Mac format. but that is irrelevant in a NAS device, as long as it offers SMB.. ie windows file network format.. you don't have to worry in the least how the files are stored on the drive.
But you cannot partition a TC.. it is as it is..
I have some iOS devices in addition including an AppleTV. Could this TC serve them as well as the Windows XP Pro PCs without having a Mac in my inventory ? (No time Machine.)
What are you expecting to serve to the iOS devices.. they are completely dumb.. they don't even know what the file system is without an APP.. and there is no Apple Format apps only SMB.. which is kind of interesting.
They are designed to work with iTunes.. but the TC is not an iTunes server strangely as lots of non-Apple products manage to make their NAS into ITunes servers. You can place the iTunes library on the TC but we don't recommend it due to the TC having no automated way to back itself up.. again unlike every other NAS out there. You can manually backup the TC via the USB.. it is slow and can only backup the whole disk.. even if you backed up the whole disk yesterday.. it has no ability to do incremental rsync or any other intelligent backup. -

Comparator interface has two methods: compare() & equals(). If we implement Comparator in our class(not abstract) itz unnecessary to define equals(). Why? (If we implement an interface we should define all its methods inside the class where we implement it)....
It all hinges on what the type of Object is. Is it
of type Comparator or the parameter you expect to be
passed to compareTo?
I say that Comparator makes the most sense to me.
If you read Joshua Bloch's stuff about Comparable, he
says it's very important to make sure that compareTo
obeys the same contract as equals for that object.
Why would you want to try overriding the behavior
that might already exist in the Object that's the
parameter for compareTo? That would be bad design,
IMO. You might change the intentions of the person
who wrote that class.

I read that to mean that the compared objects should both be Comparators (obviously) and both result in the same ordering. seems to me the method is declared on this interface to draw attention to this addition to the contract, as much as anything else -
Why don't I have sound from this new update?
Hey, I'm having trouble with my sound on my Ipad 1 with the update 5.1 idk why Isaw the update and i downloaded from my Ipad and i go to a game and no sound. My music still plays I can hear that but the games have no sound please fix this update
You have almost certainly got the system sound mute switch on.
It's either on the hardware switch, or in the recent apps bar. Check the side hardware switch, or if the latter, go to the recent apps bar by double tapping the home button, scroll to the right and you'll see it on the left. -

I want to buy this "thing", but I've no idea what it's called! I've tried Googling any number of search terms, but no luck:)
It's basically similar to a surge protector, but it retains a few minutes charge, so in the event of a power cut your computer doesn't suddenly switch off, and you've got a few minutes to save your work and shut down properly. I just started getting the error message below, when I drag a file to TRASH, I get the message "Finder wants to make changes. Type in your password to allow this." Why ? and how to to stop this request ?
There should be nothing native to the OS X which would ask for a password
or other information on a restart, unless accompanied by the traditional login
box with your user name.
There are adware or marginal products that could be called malware (bad)
that would impose their presence and some items that could have been
downloaded by accident or through some corrupted free software site; of
those some could ask for and gain permission to go through your Mac
and maybe even run in the background to do other nefarious misdeeds.
You could see if startup in SafeBoot allows you access past that the Completer.
Since I don't have a pile of helpful article links on how to resolve various issues
I'd be looking them up one way or another.

Why can't I set up POP/IMAP emails for my Muse website in Business Catalyst? I don't have the option 'use this service for email as well as hosting the website' under Advanced options.
Is this due to my Hosting Plan? Appreciate any answers.Your site is a CCM site which is on a WebBasics plan (This plan does not provide hosted emails on Business Catalyst).
If you want to create email addresses on this site, you would need to setup your email server elsewhere and configure the MX records on your site to point to that external mail server.
If you want to use Business Catalyst's hosted email services you would need to use a WebBasics+ or higher siteplan. To upgrade your CCM free site, Access your site's admin area -> Site Management -> Upgrade Now -> choose the desired site plan and billing frequency -> Add personal and credit card details -> Submit.
